Fun but Rushed

This Manga doesn't have a rushed ending in the sense that it abruptly ends or leaves things unresolved, rather the whole Manga feels like it starts rushing at some point with some characters straight up disappearing into the background to never be seen again or plot points being resolved in the span of a few pages. I think the author was working in more that one project when Tanikamen came out or he could had been trying to boost its popularity quickly dropping plot points when the polls were giving bad results. This was my biggest issue with the manga, otherwise it is a cute short love comedy manga that shifts early on into a delinquent battle manga with unrealistic fighting, something the Mangaka went on to do for a living. If I had to point out one more weird thing about it, that would be the shift in the ecchi factor; from nothing to kind of heavy handed with extreme changes in characters designs to match. Its main strength is its quirky characters, that might not fit the regular molds we are used to and their unexpected interactions, always just missing the cliché by a hair.

In conclusión, the manga is worth reading if you like comedy battle manga with a strong straightforward main character and weird side characters, no wishy washy love shenanigans and delinquent battle tropes added to the mix. I am giving it an 8 to boost the scores a bit.

About bunko...

Quote from "nkknr "
i've been wondering for a while now, WHAT THE HELL IS "BUNKO"

A bunkoban (文庫版, bunkoban) edition is a typical Japanese novel-sized volume. These are smaller (about 16cm tall) and thicker than tankōbon, printed on much higher quality paper, and usually have a new cover designed specifically for the release (in the case of manga). If there was a wideban release, the bunkoban release will generally have the same number of volumes. The term is abbreviated to just bunko (without the -ban). An approximation for the number of bunko is half the number of regular tankōbon, e.g. Please Save My Earth was published in 21 tankōbon, and then re-released in 12 bunko.
