Sakana no Miru Yume had an interesting premise. Two sisters, one who is madly in love with the other. They each have their own lives and their own friends.

Their father is weird. But then so are the sisters. For the most part I couldn't understand the melodrama. It came as a storm of emotions, lots of "I think this" lots of "but I want this", which I guess must be common for siblings. Yet, it the family is far from simply misguided, its fully malnourished.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
We have a sister who is "in love" with her older sister and wants a relationship. A father who doesn't really care about them and draws his daughter naked. An elder sister who just wants a "family", and everyone else just doesn't seem to seek the roles they've been given....

At the end, the only relatable and normal girl was Takayanagi. And my heard rang out for the girl.

Thing is, if you are searching for a story that has a conclusive end, this isn't it. A lot of the major issues are glossed over and left behind in time. You just never see them again. It might be that I perhaps didn't understand it (there were a lot of emotional outburst that left me with an "what just happened? Was it important??).

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I especially didn't get Tomoe and Kujou issue. She ripped up an important piece of paper, but gave Tomoe a day still to take the test...Her reasoning? Tomoe will remember her (aka she'll hate her for betraying her trust and thats vital apparently). But to me, it was rather unaccomplished...even strange. Tomoe was bothered, but she got over it. And Kujou---Was she in love with Tomoe? Did she hate her? Did she just get tired of everything? I couldn't quite grasp the reasoning, especially since it sprang upon us like "BAM major conflict to deal with now!".

And then BAM, Tomoe has graduated, and apparently the sisters have accepted their love and are now going on a honeymoon. And Takayanagi just sits listening to music and the baka couple. It was all sureal. As if none of any of the last 11 chapters ever meant anything at all. What happened to Takayanagi's crush? Did she just accept the fact that Mikage is in an incestrous relationship but still stayed her friend? How is she dealing with that? What about Mikage? She was a horny ravanging beast for the first few chapters, now she's mellowed out to be an obedient housewife? And Tomoe, what the heck? Whats going on with Kujuo? Weren't you going to talk it out, or fix things, wasn't that the point of Mikage's outburst, that she needs to man up and ask the important questions, afterall, she was important to you? WASSINTSHEE? AGAWDIDUNADERSTAND! And their father, that peice was of Mikage, but why is he talking about Tomoe? Is he psychic or whut?

So many questions and so little answers. I did enjoy the read. But the ending, while it can be considered a "happy" end. It felt more of a "conclusion" of nothing. Just a tie up of the emotional ordeal but the bitter problem will rise up again soon. Or again, perhaps I never quite understood the "deeper" meaning behind this. Perhaps....
