Description
Fukaya Shinichiro's whimsical grandfather has decided, quite out of the blue, to hand over one of his many holdings, a bookstore known as the "Fukayadou", to his high school-age grandson!
Shinichiro is understandably reluctant, but when he sets foot in the store only to be immediately drawn into a world full of fantastical books that thrive on human emotions, and meets the handsome blond man with a mysterious smile who works as its manager, he realizes his life will never be normal again.

...That's basically all it amounts to: a concept. Azuke Honya is the kind of manga that was obviously meant to go on for a few volumes, following an "episodic with underlying plot" structure which slowly reveals the characters' pasts and future potential, building up to a conclusion that ties the mysterious manager, the fledgling owner and the antagonists (in the form of book-confiscating government officials) together through the supernaturally-powered books in the store.
It could have been a pretty fulfilling series, too, but since she was obviously forced to finish it off in a hurry, the mangaka seems to have decided to at least complete the protagonist's backstory, leaving the rest of the mysteries up to the readers' imagination.
Still, worth a look for the beautiful art and the nice plot skeleton, especially for fans of atypical shoujo. It's a very quick read, too - I barely took 40 minutes to go from cover to cover.
