Not too bad

It’s not too bad as far as anime romance goes. They only thing I find annoying about the Manga is that there comes a point where a High schools boys innocence just goes beyond ridiculous. I mean, the guy I can’t even consider something like going on a trip with her and he already has his mind made up that sex is just completely out of the question and will never happen. For a high school guy to be this innocent, it’s not even Close to being realistic and it’s definitely ridiculous.

I dont care what others say

As my subject says, I don't care what others have said. I was originally sceptical about reading this cause of how they described the girl which made me not start on the story till now. However, after actually starting it, I couldn't stop reading! (I really just read the whole story in one sitting.)

Of course it is gonna seem cliche and all but honestly, try to not think of past stories you have read while reading it. It is surprisingly refreshing to have a shoujo manga that centres the male lead AND his friends.

As for the ending, yea it was a little... overly optimistical(?) done to be honest. Hahaha but while reading the chapters before it, I had hoped for the happy ending no matter how ridiculous or cliche. I simply didn't want to see Tsutsui cry any more TwT

Why I gave an 8 despite the praises above...
I actually wanted more Iroha scenes. She's cool. Instead we have more of Isono. (? Forgot her name right now..) Also, I still hate that A girl. Hahhaha

I agree with momimomi's review below. The story started out so well! Then it turned into 95% pointless and annoying relationship drama, with a lot of emphasis being placed on the most boring of the side couples. My reading slowed to a crawl in the middle because I was so uninterested. I do think that the manga ended strong though, as if the mangaka had a plan for the beginning and the end and had no idea what she was doing the rest of the time.

Under-rated

This is a very under rated story in my opinion. Perhaps the ending seemed a bit rushed because it was was not going to be renewed. Its too bad because there was a lot more to explore within the ensemble. For most that I've read, this story seemed to be approached in a mature, thoughtful manner. What was really nice is that, while there are obvious expectations, there was not the usual plodding predictability that comes with Shoujo romance.

Started out nice, ended cliched

It seemed like one of the rare mangas where the female lead is headstrong throughout the whole series, but... you know... you need to really dig for hours to find that kind of manga. Despite the girl not being like the "kyaaaa!!!!" female lead you often find in most mangas, she is always being saved by the male lead-- She doesn't fight for herself, she needs others to fight for her. 2 more things that put me off were that...
1. The sexist comments in the manga.
Although this is VERY common in almost all mangas, this is still a problem to be addressed. Stuff like, "Be a man!" is being said, and it makes me question what makes a man a man. Is a man any less of a man if he's feminine and cute? What's wrong with cute and feminine men??
2. The scanlations lacking punctuation.
Pretty self-explanatory, I'm fine with people confusing "your" with "you're", and stuff, but SERIOUSLY MAN. It almost NEVER includes full stops, commas, exclamation marks and question marks when needed....
okay.
Okay, I'm done

Nice

I thought it was going to be one of those shoujos where the glasses wearing ""loser"" who dates a popular love interest who realizes the main character is actually good looking/beautiful, then ends up falling for them, etc etc. something along that line. It isn't. But I wasn't hooked from the beginning. I was not very sure what the characters were thinking in the beginning, like their personalities were very hard to assume

like how Iroha lied about lying about the relationship between her and the doctor?
I didn't understand what this concept was, like a mysterious girl concept for this one I guess? It was nice though, since she became a little bit down to earth once she fell in love more and more. Also a lot of things in the beginning still not yet explained.. But I like that the characters are dynamic and some are hard to comprehend, not knowing what they will do next. It's one of the things I really enjoy about this manga. It was nice seeing character developments in people around Hikari and how his personality impacted others, which was nice since he is really nice once he cares. I think I started really getting into this series when Ishino's character was introduced. The manga is actually kinda cliche, if you try to explain the plot in words. However, the mangaka does a great job not making it seem as cliche and unrealistic by mixing in realistic elements into the story.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The cliched 'everyone becomes friends in the end- let's all go eat lunch picnic style' type of thing appears, 'I'm a better person for (insert-name-here) than you are, I'm going to steal him/her from you! -> *only ends up making love between character A and B stronger*', and other shoujo cliches.. It comes up so naturally you don't even notice it unless you really focus on that one fact. I keep forgetting that the love relationships are actually pretty complicated like A -> B -> C <-> D <- E <-F. As chapters pass, I'm having a little bit of second thoughts of this couple.. They're not very good at communicating with each other during arguments/fights, like it's always one person just announcing something whatever they think and want to say and leaving the other person not knowing what to do. (the person leaving is usually Iroha.)

A predictable diamond in the rough
by residentgrigo

The opening chapters could use a redraw in retrospect but the art now settled in nicely and is further distinct even if a few panels have weird perspectives from time to time. The writing was, more importantly, strong from the start and somewhat unique on top as the 2 romantic leads are vastly incomplete drifters. I was hooked from the start and i expected great things going forward but now find myself disappointed to a degree as "Shoujo syndrome" managed to kick in by now. The usual backup couples (at least 3 here) formed way too fast and the story reduced itself to a predictable high school romance for the most part that is about culture fests, the power of friendship and the unrequited love that becomes requited trope. Sigh. The rest of the cast isn´t bad but i am always 2 steps ahead of the narrative at all time and that isn´t good enough. The ticking clock narratives is further unneeded as the story has (or had) enough urgency. A bittersweet conclusion would make the story pointless too so why is it even present?
I love that the leading couple go though stages of a relationship even if time is only crawling forward and Iroha is still a great character. Our protagonist Hikari is also mostly intriguing too but all the answers come too quickly and the harsher stuff is now gone. His Parker Luck tough made the narrative stand out originally as he started out as a hard sell and is now written as a near every-man with positive traits only. The story is now borderline interchangeable too.
A recent arc for example introduced the theme of his family braking apart but an easy resolution came again quickly and made me write this review as a return to form was in reach but was pulled from me in the last second. Iroha´s brother and his eyebrow-raising interference represents another utterly useless subplot and the manga now irritates me nearly as much as i am having fun. I can still recommend the series overall as it has its own unique charm and even glimpses of greatness every other chapter.
Watch the Welcome to the N.H.K. anime (9/10 and the different manga is inferior) first as it gave me what Vol.1 promised. Also read Ikuemi Ryou´s Taiyou ga Mite Iru (Kamo Shirenai Kara) (9/10) and Torch Song Ecology (8,5/10) as she stuck to her guns and didn´t turn her narratives into a story about shiny happy people after act 1.
3D Kanojo holds the seeds of a promising future for the mangaka and her next work may deliver more even if her previous efforts were write-offs.
Update: The final volume was an unenjoyable mess and makes no sense in a world where digital fingerprints, phones or... friendship exist. Emery single plot point damages the previous developments and don´t ask me why Iroha´s brother had to exist, besides being a one-dimensional foil. So don´t try to have your melodramatic cake, if you want to then have it too, with extra sugar on top. I thus deduced my score by 0,5.

A pretty harsh story that the MC goes through. But the romance is great.

Most shoujo/josei are able to portray relationships realistically, and this manga is no different.

Both the MC and the love interest are interesting characters with hidden motivations and mature perspectives on life.

It was quite funny and enjoyable! This story has an original plot and characters which makes it refreshing to read! It's a nice and relaxing pastime to read this and it isn't annoying or too drama-ry so it's not tiring to read. I recommend!
