The art is old and not much to look at, but really, who cares? The story is sad but will keep you hooked. It was well worth the hours I spent reading it.

I really like this story...the author brings out the emotions each of them have amazingly. The agony, despair, hopeless love and the obsession. I would have rated this one higher if it wasn't for the paneling. Truthfully the art didn't bother me but the sporadic/chaotic-like way of the paneling drove me insane. It confused me as well. Sometimes I felt like the story skipped things and was so confused until I realized I just missed it because of the confusion.

The best yaoi,, no...THE BEST ROMANCE manga out there! This is the definition of love. After reading this I seriously thought love can be so painful and terrifying and yet oh so beautiful. How do you make a straight person fall in love with you when you're gay?!

Izumi is straight and has a dark turmoil going on deep within his heart which makes him all the more hard to accept Kouji. Kouji on the other hand had a troubled childhood and is a full swing womanizer before he met Izumi. Its dark and overwhelmingly intense. It is not a tragedy as the genre mentions. No one dies, but their love is tragic and forbidden. As the story progresses, Kouji commits an unforgivable act which breaks the thin chord of affection that did form between them.

Every page has something intense to offer and one thing I noticed were the dialogues! They were gut wrenching! For example, Kouji says to Izumi : "No matter if you were a man or a woman, cat or a dog, plant or a machine. I will always love you."

Trust me, this manga will sweep you off your feet. Yaoi haters, please DON'T IGNORE this series, you will miss out on SO MUCH if you do.
I highly recommend it to anybody who opens this page to check upon this epic series.

i think i almost cried while reading this. and i have read other people saying its all cheesy and stuff but i think its said and tragic ;.; awesome! and now im moving on to the continuation =D

I give it 9 only because of the astonishing art and intense feelings between Izumi & Koji (I'm not a fan of such gloomy love, when both partners are searching any irrational ways for more sufferings, but just in that manga it feels normal ^__^)
The plot is...good, but not brilliant... Really, I don't get irrational people... Since Zetsuai is not that long (as Bronze ^^), it wasn't boring.

So much clutter in this series. I want to get the two guys and bash their heads together and tell them to wake up and realize what they have with each other. "Bronze" is much better...of course, it is not finished.

I am only a couple of chapters away from finishing this manga. I wasn't able to cry once throughout any of it, but it did manage to make my heart clench a couple of times. If you are a reader that loves tragedy and lots of depressing drama, I suggest you give this one a try. If you are looking for lighter, happier yaoi/shounen-ai manga, I suggest you look for it somewhere else.

Despite how dark this manga gets, it has managed to keep me hooked so far. I'm giving it a "9" for this reason because I am the type that usually hates these types of genres and yet I can't put this one down. If you don't mind feeling a little pain, I would definitely recommend this to any shounen-ai/yaoi lover.

Edit: In the end, my rating of this has gone down to a "7." I just couldn't take any more of Kouji's extreme obsessive love... it got a little bit too much for me. Still a pretty good read though!

it's not that i'm a hater..cause this was MY FIRST SHONEN AI! THIS, open up my mind 4 yaoi, without this i've never! EVER would've seen a yaoi! cause it's impressive how they love eachother! it's true! you feel like you've never or would never love anyone like they love each other! but, that's also the problem! THEY LOVE TOO MUCH! they hurt too much! and it's too sad! if u wanna history with a transtornated prince that's it's sooo mess up that he can se nothing else besides his lover that's THIS it's the history 4 u... but remember..he really CAN'T see , think or matter other that his lover... i know every possessive-boyfriend-lover's DREAM! and don't get me wrong i love a possessive boyfriend too! but too much it's too much!! ...love the love between them but hated the too sad n too melodramatic part of it! but that was only my opinion...

Talk about light-headed manga? Then it is definitely NOT this one! Heavy, dark, obsessive, and messy. The panelling is really not easy to follow, and the translations are not always too good, so it makes it hard to follow sometimes. No bishounen here, but that was not the point so I don't mind, even if I like eye-candy...
What makes me rate it only 6 is that the characters are way too twisted, and that I will never be able to comprehend such a "love". For me this is not love, but selfish obsession, and therefore, I don't see it pure at all like other describes it. It makes my skin crawl! Brrrrr... I do not believe you can find such a love in life, unless you are a psycho. Therefore, I could only condemn this manga.

BUT, do not follow my opinion, and try this for yourself. I guess it's one of the love it/hate it works that has to be experienced first hand. I think it is a good manga overall, just way too obsessive for me!
