Mizumura Shinta didn't know what to make of the situation when the sexiest girl in school, Kishimoto Ririsu, starts seducing him and things get extremely physical. Shinta isn't rich or the popular guy in school so it doesn’t make sense that Ririsu would be so interested in him. But Ririsu is in fact a vampire, a secret that she will kill to keep hidden. As the relationship between Shinta and Ririsu grows, it gets harder for her to keep the secret hidden. And when those close to him, like his semi-romantic childhood friend Makimura Chizuru, are involuntarily thrown into the chaos, deep dark secrets get revealed.

Don't Misunderstand

I can handle rape in manga, yes it happens in real life and can often draw chilling and dramatic revelations from the characters in the wake of such a tragic event. What I cannot freaking stand is the character that committed the rape being used almost like comic relief directly after and still being portrayed as a sympathetic character.

Are you supposed to read the "touching" scene where Lilith's familiar is comforting her and get warm feels while conveniently forgetting the fact that he just raped someone? I'm not saying the character should get immediate retribution and die in a house fire, but having the manga constantly show him like he's a good guy when he did something reprehensible just pisses me off.

Ch4 just ruined it for me. =.=
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The main guy's childhood friend is raped by the dog guy(who is Kishimoto's pet or w/e) I'm DEFINITELY not a fan of rape... so yeah... ugh
I don't know how this series could get an anime, =.= 4 ch's in and one of the main characters gets
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
.... I thought this manga would have been a fighting manga since they show the main guy and girl with swords, but... low rating for me.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
it's just that I thought that Lilith and her "dog" were the "good guys", because they are part of the main cast, but it seems that even though they are on the protagonist's side(i'm not so sure about this), wouldn't it be quite hard for the protagonist to be on Lilith's side if he found out his childhood friend was raped by her dog?
And, I can give a damn if you rated some romance mangas that I really like down, it all factors down to a matter of opinion.
Am I wrong to rate something down solely because I do not like the content? Yes, I will admit that, but even so, this manga, at the moment, has shallow characters, little development, and out of the blue-not needed-sex. Not to mention, the main protagonist is a blushy-blushy wimp who gets pulled around everywhere and has no sense of dignity. Those reasons that I have just given are even more reasons for my low rating.

@Inori Yuzuriha I am not a fan of Berserk anyways... It's too long for me to even catch up, and if I read a manga, and get at a good amount into the story, I will finish it(If you didn't know, Berserk seems to be never-ending), but if I get turned off by the manga while just starting it, then I will back off. Holy Knight is of the latter. Plus, I do read my fair share of Adult+Mature mangas, its just that Holy Knight doesn't rock my boat, but if it rocks yours, I'm not stopping.

Now, let me restate my original post and say a little something:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I thought it was going to be a fighting manga with an ecchi/adult relief to it, but I was wrong, that's why I reacted strongly to the rape, PLUS I absolutely despise pathetic guys like that dog. On another note, I had already guessed that the protagonist had some sort of blood/genetics/etc that made Lilith want to have his child, and that's why she was mad at him for cumming early(and not in her).
I know that I react strongly to rape, it's just MY problem, and MY ideals. It just disgusts me that there are people that are so pathetic as to resort to rape to have sex, be them in the real world or the manga world. These are my ideals and my opinions solely. And another thing, like in Ookami no Monshou(iirc that's the title) the rape chapters were WAYYYY too much (and way more explicit than this ofc)and I simply skipped them, because I knew which chapters they we in.
A manga like this, just makes me wonder what the manga and anime industry has become.

tl&dr: I hate rape, that dog-guy, and I'm dropping this manga.

Not that you care about what I think, because you only care about what you think, don't worry, the feeling's mutual. biggrin
P.S. I'm probably not going to respond to any more comments.

Beyond Rape...
Rating: 1.0 / 10.0
by Lost Rabbit
August 30th, 2014, 10:43am
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
A lot of readers are saying that the dog should be killed for raping the protagonist's childhood friend. Just to get things straight, I hate the topic of rape, but I figure that IF it propels the story forward, then so be it. After all, for a series like Berserk, it had an infamously disturbing rape scene, and yet it deepened the protagonist's ambition to seek revenge against the man he once considered his good friend. In terms of story (and just about everything else) though, Berserk's on a completely different planet when compared to Holy Knight. These are the (main) issues I found with the series:

>Holy Knight has no direction as for wherever the hell it's story's heading.
>There is no higher authority in this story (Teachers, Principal/Headmaster/mistress, Security, Police, etc.). Neither the protagonist nor his childhood friend (the rape victim) ever consider the thought of reporting the rapist that's hanging around their school. Even if he is a vampire's familiar, they don't know that.
>Author keeps trying to portray the rapist dog familiar as sympathetic and caring for whenever his master (Lilith) is feeling like shit. This never works, because we all know as readers that the character's both a rapist and an incredible douche-bag to the protagonist...
>Cat-girl character that's supposed to explain the fantasy world to the protagonist has major ADHD. Whenever she has the chance to talk and explain something, she immediately gets distracted. [This is partly why the story can't go anywhere.]
>>Biggest issue's the protagonist: He is literally a useless idiot that can't get his shit together.
>He sees the rapist talking to Lilith (the heroine + girl he likes) and asks what her relationship is to the rapist. She simply tells him to "just forget about it," and main character does exactly that. Never asks nor thinks about it again immediately.
>He doesn't continue to support/look after his childhood friend after he punched the rapist just once. He goes off to keep trying to screw Lilith, and some chapters later, his childhood friend ends up getting raped/nearly raped a second time by same rapist. He doesn't even know that that happened yet.
>He saves Lilith from a vampire slayer, gets a terrible wound from the sword he blocked with just his hand, and he's eventually choked and threatened by the rapist. While he's in the hospital and he questions the course of events I just described, I figure that he has the chance to realize that he needs to become stronger. Well... Nope! His second immediate thought's about how Lilith's cute, yet cold to him... And that's it... yup...

Only reason I didn't stop reading was that there wasn't such big issues like this around the beginning chapters and all. With the recent several chapters though (12-16 I think...?), the series reveals just how terrible it is overall.
Remember how I was talking about Berserk before? If you haven't yet, go read that series. Then again, go read something, or just anything. Chances are it's better than Holy Knight.

I don´t mind the rape ( I didn´t like it) but the ONLY thing in this manga that is annoying or repulsive is how weak the MC is and how he gets bossed around and does nearly nothing or even nothing...

All this stuff about disturbing what the hell is up with that. People get raped, don't start acting like this is so unfathomable. This isn't some ideal shounen it is seinen and seinen paints a very realistic and often cruel and dark picture. Funny though I don't see many people complain about Berserker and the same thing happens.

Childhood friend of the main guy getting raped by some stranger is really depressing and disturbing especially if its her first time. Hopefully it gets better from the looking at the raws.
I think this manga was put on the backburner. If that is so then that is to be expected. Hopefully Maya Mizuki learned her lesson as she blew her chances in mainstream manga. This manga is almost guaranteed to get screwed over with a writer that comes up with a similar story with a better established plot without the hentai plot.

Miyazaki Maya (spoilers)

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
These are my thoughts on the available translated content so far, which basically consists of the first volume.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the author is Maya Miyazaki.

Many find the rape scene between Lilith's dog familiar and Shin's childhood friend repulsive, and logically it is repulsive to us readers. However, rape, NTR, and cheating are common themes in Maya's work, there's always some form of it in all of his stories.

I tolerate it because his artistic talent is something I enjoy greatly.

Although I did not like the rape scene as a human being, I enjoyed it as someone who wants to see a compelling story. Such a scene conveyed the sense of apathy among the immortals. Lilith did not care that her familiar raped a human and it didn't seem like the familiar was even taught that such matters are detestable. This signifies that humans mean nothing to them.

Not only does it tell you a little something about the immortals, but it strengthens our emotional bonds to the main character and his childhood friend. Most people after seeing and reading that scene will want two things. Just revenge for the innocence lost, and for Shin to enact that revenge. Not only this, but since I'm a spiteful person, I want to see what the familiar did to Shin's childhood friend bite Lilith in the ass. Simple example: Shin refuses to copulate with Lilith because of how disgusted he is in their behavior.

Personally I think the artwork is great, and the story is something I enjoy. There are quite a few stories about immortals and their familiars but something about this one just compels me to keep reading. It's something known yet unique. Not a copy or carbon print to my knowledge and I can't wait for more releases.

Well I had already read the comments and had what happens to the childhood friend spoiled, and I hate what happens to her - especially when the character that is *what happens to her* loves someone or/and is a virgin (idk?) but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be... Being mind controlled or whatever |: but yeah I stopped watching after said chapter .-.

misleading genre

most people probably start reading this expecting one of those happy go lucky/harem manga's but it isn't. it stil has way too few chapters (14) to actually see where this is going. it lacks a few factors so it doesn't really fit the genre but rather than folow the descriptions you should rather think about this as a serie of the genres: drama, psychological, horror, supernatural and mature. those who usually read harem/ecchi will probably have the same reaction as half of the people who commented here while this kind of thing happens in many manga with a dark theme without anyone really complaining about it.

then again the main character really should grow a pair for my opinion but that's the author's choice and there are too few chapters to say anything about character growth. that said he had the chance of revenge in the palm of his hands since the rapist's owner is desperate. but letting this kind of chances slip and a terribly weak MC is typical for your common ecchi/harem manga

quit a risky combination of two styles wich mostly have a different audience, ironicaly by being original pissing of the readers one way or another. I'm still somewhat curious how he is going or whether he is going to evolve in the future. but as of now it's not my cup of tea, i had rather hoped it had been something of the style from aphorism or gantz

I like borderline H and rape doesn't really disturb me, if it's the main character who does it. BUT I hate where the main character's girl cheats with another guy / gets raped like in Triangle Blue.

The plot isn't really developed much, it starts with a sex scene and you've got no idea what's going on, during those past 5 chapters it didn't really solve anything. In fact there are even more questions popping outta my head

IF you like hentai like Triangle Blue, then it's for you, but as for my part i'll quit at chapter 5.

4/10 cuz of the nice art
