Umm...what? That was kind of awkward.

I was looking through the recent releases, trying to find something to read. Side note: adding a colour code to different genres is useful! I saw this manga and arranged marriages are my favourite so I thought that I'd give this one a go. I was so disappointed after reading just two chapters.

Arranged marriages of course have been used repeatedly in manga. E.g. Hapi Mari and Hadashi de Bara wo Fume. The only difference which sets these manga apart is the delivery of the plot. Boy was the pacing in this manga horrible. In just two chapters, so many things happened. Problems were introduced too early and resolved too quickly. Everything was just too fast-paced. It was everywhere. The mangaka did not develop her characters enough before introducing the plot and the conflicts. She just went straight in and expects the reader to be able to follow. I was lost. Because of the lack of character development, the interaction between the characters felt awkward and fake. Out of a sudden there was familiarity between the two leads even though they just met in the span of one day. The emotions felt by the characters therefore were unconvincing. Futhermore, the characters were not interesting enough. The heroine is a Mary Sue. She doesn't have any apparent flaws aside from being dirt poor. The male lead is more bearable yet appears bland as well because his character type has been done too often. I have no problems with repeated character types. It's just the delivery that makes it or breaks it.

The awkwardness didn't just end with the dialogue but it was also present in the art. The art is average, nothing appealing to it. The mangaka needs to work on her proportions. Sometimes the bodies would appear in weird angles. Sometimes the relative sizes of the body parts were wacky too. For example, the heroine's forearms appeared too thin. What's even more disturbing are the facial expressions. They are not very expressive. The mangaka tries but the expressions end up looking weird. It's as if a stoic person is trying to smile by forcefully lifting the corners of his lips.

I know that two chapters doesn't say much, but if I can say so much with just two chapters, it says a lot about the manga. Heck, I don't even know why I'm writing this much for a manga like this. I'm just saving your time before you go ahead and read this work. I don't know. Just don't waste your time. I don't think this series is worth it so I'm dropping it already.
