All signs initially indicated that this would be a mindless tentacle rape manga at first, but the story ends out somewhat more well rounded than that. Spoiler (mouse over to view) I wonder which is more socially tolerable, and which is more morally right? The world above the lake where children wander alone to be abducted by predators, abused, and discarded by their parent -vs - the world below the lake where the tentacle demon queen shelters them from the world above, but in exchange has them offer their bodies. All in all an eerie tale, an exaggerated metaphor, or a tragedy depending how you look at it.
