Description
From Storm in Heaven:

A collection of short stories. The title story is about Youzuke; one summer when he was growing up, he stayed at his uncle's house. His uncle had a pool, and at night Youzuke would see a mermaid swimming there, visiting his uncle. Years and years have passed, and Youzuke's uncle has disappeared. Surprisingly enough, his will leaves the house to a stranger, Ayumi Kenjou. But when Youzuke meets Ayumi, it seems like he'd already met him that summer so very long ago.

the story is a bit confusing, and feel there is a bit too much. i think for me who is very comfortable with the usual BL with 3 to 5 panels found this quite crowded pages overwhelming, and need a while to get used to. i dont think its bad at all, just more exposure needed to appreciate it. i like the characters and the subdue atmosphere here, for anyone who want something different in BL, read this.

a nice example of such rare thing as adult shounen-ai. you know as adult bl-fan i already feel tired of numerous penises in manga but i still like bl-manga. i know that ppl make sex i just don't need to watch it so much and detailed. so for me this mangaka has become a perfect choice. peaceful but angsty, psychological stories about grown-up ppl. highly recommmended.

It's a shame the dialogues weren't more clear (I mean it was hard to tell who was talking) because except that the stories were pretty good. The nostalgic feeling it gave off was good...

Only it was too confuse or at least it confused me.

The art reminds me more of Antique Bakery's Yoshinaga fumi than Kunieda Saika but you have similarities from both.

Serious Tales of Human Relationships

All four stories have a serious tone and a soft, hopeful sorrow feel. The illustrations at times remind me of the loose flowing lines of Saika Kuneida. The splash page and cover are beautiful watercolours that really convey the essence of the stories through the gentle melancholy of their lines.

These stories are never explicit or gratuitous sexually; rather, they are more in lines with the Year24 mangaka's serious offerings, aimed at a more mature audience with its examination of psychological issues, including sexuality and self-acceptance issues. They are more representative of homosexual relationships of real men, unlike the oft-fantasy of typical BL.

The word mermaid and BL together in one manga confused me. I'm not fan of BL, or Yaoi but I decided to try this one out because of the mermaid theme. Shame there's not really a a mermaid...
