Description
From Obsession:
The students always call him dark, dirty, scary so science teacher, Fuwa Tsutomo, couldn't show his true identity as a good-looking man. Yet he had liked a student, Kurusu, who was failing science. So in order to help and be with Kurusu, even if it's just for a while, Fuwa changed into the "Phantom of Science" and be a private tutor for Kurusu. Unfortunately Kurusu's friend revealed his secret, but still Kurusu didn't care; he only hated Fuwa, not his "Phantom"

...very, very stupid. But it gets more interesting as it goes on. biggrin

By this time, the 'Phantom' idea is really overworked, but if you're looking for a quick light read, then you should enjoy this story.

BTW:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I think sensei got her seme/uke mixed up. Kurusu is fine as a spoiled uke, but I think in the future, he'll make a better seme. ;D

Not A Wise Piece To Offer a First Impression Reader of Fujii's Work

The story is silly with no emotional connection or commitment to the characters. Both men seemed to be moved back to shallow answers and quick, unsatisfactory, flimsy, slap dash wrap ups to their problems. And it wasn't even funny. The final chapter of the main story -finally- started to get more engaging simply because it held a little more interesting conflict that wasn't absurd. But again, the ending dissolved into trivialities and brushed off story telling.
The art of this 2001 piece does not profile the mangaka's work to the best of her abilities. The art seemed messy to me and cluttered, like it needed a lot of clean up.
This was a disappointing read. Albeit, I went in with great expectations due to the lofty reference the mangaka was using for her story. Don't reject future potential readings of Sakuya Fujii's work based on this one, though. I would not have this story as a profiling piece for her talents. It does a disservice to her. And I know she can do better with the other works I'd would recommend by her, like Sleeping with Money's artwork and Mayuki.
