Gotta take points off for acting like it's okay for adults to kiss middle schoolers

If you ignore or at least avert your eyes from the age issues, this story is sweet and cute and heartwarming. Yeah, love between brothers, but it's that "not blood related" get-out-of-incest-free card. Fine. Whatever. Consenting adults can do what they want. Except.........middle school kid. Also, is it worse to fall for your brother or your legal guardian? What if both? The power differential made it impossible for me to invest in the romance.
But the art is good, the story is sweet.

I don't agree with romance inside family, so there's that
Not too great at first, but awesome at last!

It was messy and too much confusing time skip at the start. But when it comes to the 2nd volume, it becomes better. The best is the last volume - the volume that boost up my rating for it 😊

Eh. I don't like this pairing and the pacing is really awful. Seems like there are confusing time skips and several of the characters look almost exactly the same.
Kinda all over the place

I actually like this manga's whole cast including even Haruhiko and Takashi whom I wasn't too fond of in Mankai Darling - the reduced screentime and new dynamics with different characters did wonders in boosting these two's likeability. I'm not sure if I like how the story played out and how the mangaka executed the multiple romantic relationships between the leads though. Pacing felt a bit odd as there were many timeskips of disproportionately different lengths that could mess up the perception of time, and there's this lack of tension and suspense at certain key points in the romantic development of one of the couples, which inevitably dampened their impact with the audience. Having said that, the characters themselves are still pretty cute and fun (Masato lowkey best boi haha), and the art is as good as can be expected from Yamamoto Kotetsuko. It's not an outstanding series but it does provide some entertainment.
Not my favorite

Love the author, just so-so on this particular work. I don't mind the whole setup, or even the heavier aspects of it(though she's repeated the same theme a few times now, which is weird), but I hate the pairings. Elementary schooler is creepy, even if he looks much older. It made the whole thing really unpleasant. I wish she had just made him a bit older. Also not fond of the other due to similar reasons, but it wasn't near as bad in that respect. I could have gotten in to their story, if they had one. It's very one sided. There is development, but very little of it involves Ryou, and then suddenly we're supposed to believe he's also romantically interested after showing zero hints the entire series. It needed several more chapters to flesh that out. Maybe it was cut short, or maybe it was just sloppy writing, I can't really know. Anyway, it wasn't terrible to read, and I still love her art, but it was definitely not her best.
Great!

I love this series and cant wait for the next update. Its just so cute and sad. All the characters are likable and just makes you want to cheer them on and work hard like them. Its a pretty inspirational story of how brothers bond together and work together. I havent read Mankai Darling but you dont need to to understand the story. I really recommend this one!

Honestly the romance story is a bit slowly, but I understand it because it is a shonen-ai after all...but until now there's only one couple and I'm really curious if it's gonna be another one or two...
I really love all Yamamoto-sensei works, but this manga isn't that good, but I'm giving it an opportunity because its a work from one of my favorite mangakas.

I wanna know what happens! Kyaaaa the characters from Mankai Darling have appeared <3
And i'm waiting for the relationship between Ame and Hayato with all my heart!
Love all her works, there's nothing wrong with making one manga slower than the others, she can do whatever she wants

First of all, I love Yamamoto Kotetsuko's works. And I'm thankful that this one gets scanlated.
But I always have this particular opinion that her works are best served light and sweet (Honto Yajuu, Chuchun ga Chun) or with someone else handling the plot (Ano Hi, Sugiru Juunana no Haru)
....This particular work is one solid proof of that.
I appreciate her trying to do some heavy tragedy, but it's very..lacking. Other than her art, which is gorgeous as usual (although they are starting to have sameface-itis)
The pacing is too fast, and indeed the implied tragedy comes like a bad one-two punch.
As a result, there are no character development in the beginning, no emotional weight laying on the tragedy. I don't see any particular reason why I should feel sad or attached, and all I could think was "meh, plot device." Has she watched Korean dramas lately?
Then it essentially whipped back to her usual fare; fluffy lighthearted cheerfulness. There are some hint of wistfulness, but mostly it's 90% Yamamoto Kotetsuko. It....cheapens the entire premise. Of course, I'm waiting for the storyline to fully blossom here (atm it's only like, 4 chapters in)
The fluffiness is paired with equally lighthearted (or, if I were to be cruel, vapid) characters. The relationship feels empty and superficial, its build up very faint.
And..the characters. They are either too cliche (it's certainly no Lucky Number 13 or Honto Yajuu), or in one case, total wacko. One of the hinted romantic stories involves a sixth grader. SIXTH GRADER. Has Yamamoto Kotetsuko embraced shotacon, running out of character ideas, or are there some social development in Japan I don't know about?
It feels very rushed, empty and....unfulfilling.
I would prefer a much slower pace, for one. More character depth; more dimension.
That's...it.
