This a concept that has been used a lot on western material, a normal kid, perhaps not so normal, who get a super power due to a certain coincidental situation and decides to become a hero, but what makes this special is that it is not western. Why would that make such a huge difference?
Simple, most Super-hero comics from the west have to deal with being In the same universe as big names like Spider-man, Ironman, Hulk and Capitan America for Marvel, and Batman, Superman, Flash and Wonderwoman for DC. They share the same universe and can't never hope to be bigger than them, or more powerful because nobody would like they favourite heroes being weaker or less important that some unknown character, so we never see new Heroes this days raising to fame on the west.
The same old setting on a fresh location can give this the chance to be unique, because It has numberless ways of being used, and our character can become the most loved, or hated hero on his world.

It's a real shame nobody is translating it.
