Cute

Because the female lead is 'chubby', she tends to be more mature than most shoujo girl leads. And this is what i really enjoyed: she knows what she is and she's learning to accept the insecurities that come with it. The artwork is very beautiful. Even though the female lead has a rounder face - her positive personality makes her very pretty. Of course, the male lead is also beautifully drawn.

My peeve is that the relationship started with a fetish, which i found a little disgusting. The problem with this is that her "chubbiness" is emphasised a little bit too much. Imo, sometimes it feels like he's dating her because of his fetish but then the fluff moments in the manga redeems this. Overall it's a cute read.

My initial thoughts for this manga was how absolutely adorable Mugi was, besides it rare to see a shoujo manga with a chubby girl as the lead. This is a definite must read if your sick of shoujo stereotypes, and want a refreshing and cute story.

Adora-creepy

Mugi's friends (and everyone else) are right, he is a bit creepy. But that doesn't stop the relationship between Mugi and Tagami from being pretty darn adorable. I feel that the issue of Mugi's weight is treated very well; yes, it is a plot device, but she isn't really treated badly for it. She does repeat her feeling that she felt as a chubby girl that she would never find love, which is sad. But not an untrue expression of how many overweight girls feel in HS. The skinship is the creepy part, but it's done that way on purpose to highlight Tagami's obsessiveness (his preaching to other males of the virtues of plumpness in chapter 2 is very amusing).

Yes, he is a bit bizarre, but there is no question that the attraction Tagami feels is not simply physical, but that he likes her for her as well, and the same in return. Thus far, he treats her very well, and she does the same for him. I do like his friend, though, who offers to give Mugi the number of a lawyer if she wants to sue Tagami for sexual harassment. lol.

The art is good, though the shinny ball thing isn't my favorite. And it's just generally super cute. I suggest giving it a try!

I do feel that this panders to the demographic that is chubby high school girls in Asia, but the "chubby-maniacs" mentioned in this manga do exist. It is interesting to see a rare topic like this chosen.

Oh, and it's also adorable at parts.
It also does have some really good points about accepting yourself and liking yourself for what you are.

It's a standard shoujo cupcake, but with a different kind of sprinkle on top.

Cute and strange at the same time

Female lead is absolutely lovely, she deserves the world, and that's the main reason I liked this so much at the start, but with the story going on I couldn't stop feelin uneasy about male lead creepyness. His feticism is too much and while it started as a comical relief, it became out of place during the relationship development (would you be able to read it in the same "cute" way if it was a boob fetish for example? Would ML love her the same way if she wasn't chubby? His words says yes, his actions tho..)

While that doubt creeped under my skin, the second male lead appeared and... He finally treats her normally, he SEES her normally.. and that's what feels right to me. So yep, I decided to scroll the raws till the end just for ending sake and look for another story with a better development.

So this I use to love, but then it kind of overstayed its welcome. You would think this is a good one for chubby chasers but there is more about weight loss in it for sure like a black haired friend they meet ends up losing all her weight and then the main girl loses a good bit too like its fine on the chubby parts but its something I kind of don't recommend like if it never continued after a certain point it would of been great!

Despite Tagami (who is a good bf but tone it down with the fetish, my friend lmao), this is a cute manga...very heartwarming and I wish I had been able to read it when I was young. I love Mugi and everything she has to say ( "I like my fat self" and "I was the kind of person who could easily forget I was loved" ) -- her insecurity was relatable and her gentleness with herself and others was enviable.

Beware: *2nd male lead syndrome*

At first, it was refreshing to read about a chubby female protagonist (Tsumugi), but the male lead (Tagami) is a bit too possessive and creepy (even he and his friends acknowledge himself as creepy).

Eg: He likes squishy soft things like our chubby protagonist a bit too much. He keeps squeezing her soft parts like some kind of pervert.

The good thing is, normally, he's respectful of her choices when she says no to him, and he considers her feelings. However, he also often says disturbing things to her like "I don't just want to feel up your arms. I want to touch your entire body." Or, he would take off her shirt without her permission AND while she is reluctant to take it off and then he says "NOW I can see you" with her soft jiggly parts exposed (the manga literally says "jiggly" and "soft" btw).

Those kinds of things are a bit too disturbing for my tastes.

This makes Hiyama (the love rival / 2nd male lead) seem like a better love interest for our chubby female lead. Even though he looks like a delinquent, he is more of a gentleman than Tagami LOLLLLL.

And Hiyama is more mature than Tagami. By a lot.

Eg: Because he knows Tsumugi and Tagami are dating, Hiyama refrains from making advances on her.
Eg2: Hiyama is content with Tsumugi and Tagami dating as long as Tsumugi's happy.

Meanwhile, you have jealous Tagami...
Eg: Tagami senses Hiyama's interest in Tsumugi so what does he do?
He questions his girlfriend Tsumugi like this:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
"If Hiyama says he likes you, will his words give you more confidence?" after she reassures him she does not like Hiyama romantically.

Who says things like that, seriously? She just reassured him she does NOT like Hiyama romantically! Tagami's just making things messier by complicating a sensitive situation with hypothetical questions.

Tsumugi was honest so she didn't say something like "Hiyama's words won't ever affect me!! only you do Tagami-kun <3!" So instead, she thinks about it and Tagami, assuming the answer is
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
"yes" from her hesitancy, storms off.

But the thing is, Tagami put her in a corner by using a hypothetical situation like this b/c if Hiyama hypothetically does affect her self-esteem if he confessed, Tagami would feel justified of his jealousy and anger while Tsumugi will feel guilty, even though it isn't cheating.

Why isn't Tsumugi cheating in this case?
Because for Tsumugi, who gets made fun of b/c of her body weight, she has a low self-esteem, so if someone - ANYONE - tells her "I like you" of course it would boost her self-esteem even if she doesn't like that person back romantically and would decline his love confession.
------------------
As much as Hiyama seems like the better love interest, unfortunately, it's definitely not likely for Hiyama to end up with Tsumugi, so we can just hope he has a happy ending of his own.

8.5/10 in the beginning, but right now bordering towards a 7 since the male lead Tagami is a bit too creepy (even though he's a nice boyfriend for Tsumugi otherwise), and the story doesn't feel cohesive enough. The story is starting to feel like it's rambling without enough impact or weight in it. It's devolved into a typical shoujo plotline that's a bit bland. Nothing bad, but not the unique story you'd be expecting based on the beginning of this series.

---------------------------------
March 2022 edit:
@SodaLiteV1 - we all have our own opinions, but there's no need to diss other people's opinions like that. Also don't assume someone's nationality (or in this case, non-nationality) just because they disagree with you LOL. And please improve your reading comprehension; there was no implication indicating that Tsumugi ought to cheat. Tsumugi had already stated clearly that she did not have any romantic feelings for Hiyama, so for Tagami to keep on pressing her with hypothetical questions was realistic yet immature of him, simple as that. Tagami feeling jealous was realistic, and I have no qualms seeing that presented in boys. However, how one handles their jealousy reveals their level of maturity.

And no, just because Tagami himself and everyone else also thinks of his actions as creepy doesn't make those actions less of an issue or less creepy (obviously). If anything, such a unanimous consensus that his actions are creepy only serves to reaffirm it. To think otherwise is just faulty logic.

And if you really want to read real hard into it (as you seem to like implications), then Tagami's own self-awareness of his actions being creepy ought to lead you to question what his continuation of those creepy actions indicate about his character.
