Great story, but odd ending and plot holes

I loved the story and the art, it was very entertaining until the very end. However, the story does get convoluted and there are even plot holes that never get explained, and the ending doesn’t feel well thought of.

i dont know whether to call it good or bad its kinda like walking dead where they keep changing characters they introduce new ones the kills either the old ones or the new ones themselves and also the apocalyptic setting -- the lawlessness etc.

and also there are a lot of things that the author executes all at ones there are the mahou shoujo which are like zombies but they have powers and kill everyone they see then time travel then the rather unusual characters which has theyre all unusual story background but will eventually lead to death LOL and they are also unlikable

and its asFlitfish says itss like umineko

I normaly dont read these kind of manga and horror yet its strange and twisted. I want to see what happens and how it solved yet dislike it. I feel the first arc was good and could be wrap up but instead there more to the story. Yet now the second arc arive and i not sure if ill continue.

Reminds me of Umineko

Almost pointless levels of gore, too much fan service, main characters I can't bring myself to be invested in, and the plot redeeming factor: time loops. The relationships between the characters also feel forced as well. Any interest generated is from the time loops, as the characters differ a bit.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Also rape of a minor character that really served no purpose besides fan service and reiterate that the scumbag antagonist is a scumbag.

Pretty cool

I found the manga pretty cool-though there wasn't actually much plot. It kinda reminds me of HOTD, but this has lesser plot and more gore. It was pretty obvious though, who was the creator, at the start of the manga...the romance part was just too...random, though. = = It was slightly stupid = =

Though, it was kinda cliché.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
-The lolis come with different 'features' and even become upgraded and revive
-the lead female is actually a psycho and is in love with the male
-said lead female probably has a split personality
-all nice characters die so quickly it's surprising
-the mains (especially the yandere main, the male and the one who's in love with him) aren't really put in any life-or-death situation which puts you on the edge of your seat. They don't die because well, they're mains!
-random pedo character who lives for an amazingly long time (too long for a pedo character, if you ask me) just to add to the eechi for fan service

Though there were some unconventional parts, but not much. The story is interesting, but only for the gore.

Latest edit: the ending for the latest chapter (20) was so...confusing.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the world ending was crazy, and slightly confusing as to how it happened. The split personality of the main was psycho, too. The 'infectious' Maho Shoujo was erm...surprisingly enough, a major character. (As major as a Maho Shoujo could get in this manga, I suppose). The perv character was rather surprising, as usually they die pretty early on, and this one was actually one of the main characters.

The male lead, however...I wanna kill him. Still. He's so stupid...sure, the evil person is his childhood friend, and he needs to shoot her to get the world back to normal. Just get it over and done with...all the drama...but the ending was still a major shock. What happened to their allies? Were they killed by the mastermind's minions? What happened to the world, since the Maho Shoujo were from the future? Questions, questions. Still an interesting read, though. The last chapter keeps me hanging on the edge of my seat.

it's... Magical

I'm not a fan of horror manga that's for sure. mostly because of the violence. although my problem is not with the violence in them. it's actually with the fact that most horror manga artists mistake horror with slasher! they think so much about the details in drawing gory scenes that they kind of forget there is a story to tell; that the dialogues are so weak and the characters are not deep at all. and more importantly, there's no mystery. i mean, how could you have horror and not mystery?!!

well, guess what. "Magical girl" got as far away as possible from that. it's got all the human butchering and detailed gory scenes; yet also some huge mysteries, character depth and good (good, not great. it's a manga after all) dialogues.
it's obvious that every character has a background and i'm looking forward to read about them in vol.2.

There were only two things i felt kinda let down by.
i so Loved the fact that the first "magical" girl was cute. i was reading it at midnight and i remember there was a moment after that class massacre i flipped the page and it showed the girl, i felt the smell of blood! mesmerized i was!
but then the other creatures became less and less cute and more and more like your usual random monsters. some of them were still kinda adorable, but i wanted all of them, much more doll-like pretty. it'd make the whole thing a lot creepier. if you're going to go against a common manga logic (cute and fluffy things are lovely, hence safe), do it properly. hugely.

sadly, "Magical girl of the end" also follows the common rule of sudden deaths which most horror mangas follow. another thing i hate about horror manga. it's totally distracting that every moment you expect someone to die. not every minute or chapter: every second! which completely ruins the change of pace in manga. i mean, they've fought and now they're resting and even some romance is happening, yet you, as a reader can't enjoy it 'cause your mind doesn't want to be tricked into it. it's like not trusting the mangaka.
it also destroys the impact of death scenes. like "well, i was expecting it, so..." if you want to have a death to happen, give hints; change the atmosphere to someone's-gonna-die one; kill some mood before it happens!

but all done and said, this is the first time i'm looking forward to a horror manga's second volume. well done Kentaro Sato san... it's magical ^___^

Catchy, yet overloaded with unnecessary details

This has pretty twisted plot, I've glanced through it up to ch.25 and it involves
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
time travel, some bits of magical and pseudo-scientifical experiments, demonic posessions... Time travel is one of those things which make it better and different, because the sudden returning to peace is as eerie as sudden enemy attack.

Also lots of tragedy, blood, and some heavy erotics. Too much of gore makes it overloaded with unnecessary details, making the story twice as long as it could be. I can't see why is this a shounen. It's clearly 18+...no, more like 21+... It has interesting plot ideas but not everyone can struggle to read through dozens and dozens of boringly disgusting/creepy scenes and discover it. Meh. It's success is mostly based on "wow effect" and adrenaline people feel while looking on something scary.

Besides, it's just an adventure manga in the end. Through the plot has unexpected (thus interesting) twists, It hardly brings up any psychological issues, and character relations mostly don't say anything new as well. The policeman character is the only one I rooted for, although he's also the most immoral one. And besides, the plot looked interesting until
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
A whole bunch of new enemies popped out, it looked so dragged.

It could all be solved on that roof, honestly.

I doubt anyone but Kii-kun survives till the end.

tl;dr it's just another story which is interesting only because it's shocking, both graphically and with a storyline.

A pretty terrible manga.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Mahou Shoujo of the End is a pretty terrible manga. It's about a kid who's having a really bad day. First, he sees one of his teachers get his head blown off. That's pretty bad. Then just about everybody else gets killed, too. Even worse, they get killed by a walking, talking doll. I don't know about you, but that's not a very cool way to die. Anyway, after that a whole bunch of people turn into zombies and this guy's day just goes downhill from there. I don't know. Like I said, it's pretty terrible.

The manga itself isn't anything too special. The plot isn't too incredible and the characters are pretty boring. But that's OK, because about 90% of them get killed by the first 90 pages. So you don't have to worry about their archetypes for very long. The rest will probably die in the next volume. BUT, if you like to see people get hurt, then this is the manga for you. There's about fifty people who literally have their heads blown off their bodies, I think there's a few arms and legs ripped off, a couple dudes get burned to death by a fireball, and a big old pile of people get dropped off the top of a building. So, if you don't like people, you will love reading this. I guess that makes me a pretty bad person, because I made it through the entire first volume myself. I guess I just don't like people very much. So, I guess the only reason you should read this is if you like shock horror.

Nevertheless, it kept me entertained. Oh, and I read it in Japanese, so it wasn't a complete waste of time. I learned the phrase "頭が爆発した". It means "his head exploded". I don't know about you, but I think that's a very useful phrase to remember.
