Description
From Dan of Population GO: Based off of the novels, Izumiko Suzuhara has been raised in a shrine all her life. Besides for that and her extreme inability to use electronics she is a normal girl. Or is there more that we don't know about? Her parents are both abroad and still hold a huge amount of control on her life, perhaps too much control needed for an ordinary girl...
-----
The story revolves around Izumiko Suzuhara, a 15-year old girl who has been raised at Tamakura Shrine, part of the Kumano Shrines World Heritage Site. She destroys any electrical device that she comes into contact with. Despite being shy, she wants to try living in the city. Her guardian Yukimasa Sagara recommends that she enroll at Hōjō High School in Tokyo, accompanied by his son and Izumiko's childhood friend Miyuki Sagara. While in Tokyo, an entity named "Himegami" appears. Izumiko learns that she is a yorishiro, a vessel for a shinto spirit known as a kami, while Miyuki learns that he is a yamabushi, a warrior tasked with protecting her.
The main reason I'm following this series (both manga and the anime) is the male cast - as the anime opening shows, there're going to be many (cool? well, at least pretty ) boys in this series. The manga art and anime animation are great too.
The reason I'm not sure I like this series is that it's very heroine-centric. The heroine? Average looking at best (of course her face is pretty, but because of her style and attitude, at first she doesn't seem attractive - nothing new here), gloomy, very shy, weak, cry-baby, can't step up for herself... but of course, because of some circumstances (in this case she seems to be a deity or something, her body is a host), she has to treated special and protected by everyone, doesn't matter if they like it or not, it's their destiny. It's super predictable that the guy who is destined to be her servant (and hates it at first) will warm up to the heroine and fall for her. I'm annoyed already? XD
I know many people won't mind the above but I do, and I'm worried that the purpose of all the cool male cast will be to obsess over the heroine (either as her protectors or enemies). It is possible that I'll drop the series if it gets too annoying for me. The series reminds me of Hiiro no Kakera and I did drop that one.
edit; The series is better than expected Thought it would be full of cliches, but while the heroine is super weak and annoying, the series itself feels pretty fresh. The plot is interesting, as are some of the characters.
