Story about a love, that surely happened more than once in real life.
by Hikari1616

Rating: 10.0  / 10.0
I liked it, I liked it even though I cried all night, thinking about Asakura and Tachibana, their love, their lifes, I've been analyzing this story and endings. This is something that makes an huge impact on reader's mind.
And then you realize that this story - about love between people who due to their surroundings shouldn't love each other - happened in real life so many times, and so many times nobody knows about them till now, so you want to cry again, just for them, because they were humans who loved, felt pain and happiness, but we don't know anything about these moments when they where truly themselfs.
Asakura and Tachibana was lucky enough to have their home.
And how is the ending (as there is two versions of it).
This ending(s) is a masterpiece.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
First, both of endings are happy endings, although the "official one" is more bittersweet.
In this ending we don't really know if Asakura and Tachibana has met again after the first one came back to his home to break an engagement, it is not said clearly what happened after that, but we get to know that Tachibana died at the age of 60, but he was single all his life and nobody knows where his last manuscript - which he wrote before he died - disappeared, but then we see a photos shown at the exhibition at his home, and we see Asakura at a photo from premiere of one of his books so we know that they met and it was probably him who took this manuscript.
Then we have an extra and we know now that it was really Asakura who took it, and he did it because it was a story of their love, written just as Tachibana promised it to Asakura, for him to know how much he loves him. And of course, we have a dedication in which Tachibana thanks Asakura for spending his life with him, so we know they were together till Tachibana's death at 60. At the end we have an old Asakura reading the manuscript over and over again, reminding all their moments together and saying that they will see each other soon.
Before I read it I thought that one ending is bad and the other is happy, but they are together in both of them.
In second they are just still together, as they are very old and Tachibana hasn't write this last manuscript yet, because it was something he left for Asakura when he died.
I am happy that we get to know that their spend their life together and that he wasn't young when he died, so they lived with each other for a while. They will reunite again as they conquered their happiness even in this life. I don't understand why Asakura left Tachibana's home after his death, but well, maybe he wasn't officially living there. They had to keep it a secret after all.

You know, this story just ends much later that any ordinary story, when we know that our characters were in each other arms till they died, even if they died as old mans. So sad that not many known about their relationship.
It's kind of similar with "Senjou no bokura", gives the same vibe, of course I cried with it too..

A love beyond the reality of the setting

A love beyond the reality of the era setting for this piece. It's lovely, beautiful, painful and clutches to your heart. Despite being a single volume series, it tells so much for the two main characters and adds more with the minor character that was involved with the two of them.

The start was slow but the pace started gaining when both of the main character has been exposed to the story, giving enough room for their growth, carying what they feel.

The art style really suits the era setting and the beautiful lines made the characters' expressions even more convincing that as you switch pages, you can't help but feel a pinch somewhere in your chest. It's one of those manga where separation and distance never matters if what you feel towards a person is strong enough to go over boundaries that even you, yourself, don't know you can.

It's simply beautiful. Deserves a 10.

It's star crossed lovers living in a difficult time. Really touching love story. I especially liked that fact that the main characters are both wholesome and kind-hearted people, you know, the sort that you would like as friends in real life. The ending brought tears to my eyes.

Crying so Hard

I had been putting off reading this manga for three months now. I saw the cover and just wanted to break out crying; it was so sublime. Read the first chapter, and just couldn’t go on anymore. And, you see that’s the difference between these other manga that give you a rush, instant gratification, and these sort which make you tremble, with joy, fear, excitement, when picking them up.
I will never regret having read this. In fact, I would probably regret it for the rest of my life if I hadn’t read it. Now, it’s time for me to finally read the whole thing and cry my heart out.
Also, I do realize that it’s really unfair of me to be putting in three pictures from this manga, however given the especial circumstances I regards to this manga I am very much willing to make an exception. Even though there are so many other manga which I want to put in three four pictures of I will try to limit myself to three for only extremely sad ones.
I am just glad that it had a happy ending. Otherwise I don’t quite know what I would have done with myself. I do think there’s still room for improvement. Like, Golden Days, or Hana no Miyako De, or Hana no Mizo Shiru, and a few other manga done a much more fantastic narrative build up and resolution. Hana no Miyako De completely broke my heart though, and one of the reasons that I wasn’t reading Tamayura was because I got the same vibes from Tamayura and didn’t want becoming a sobbing mess right now.

This manga is... beautiful.
No really !! It's been a while since I've read such a beautiful manga.

I really loved the story. The characters were endearing and their relationship was so sweet... But what I enjoyed the most was the story telling ! It was marvelous !! The angst was great and everything felt so genuine !
And honestly just take a look at the art !!! OMG IT IS SOOO REFINED AND DETAILED ! I love it to death !! xD

Anyway you really need to give this manga a chance !! Especially if you're a historical BL sucker like me bigrazz

What you would kinda expect of stories of this era. The story was almost "whatever" until you read the end, it's like you don't think much of it but the author doesn't want you to forget this manga so they give this heartfelt ending... It was a rather fast read but it leaves you with some nice+nostalgic (almost sad) feelings.
Read it... Or maybe not... Idk

good for just 5 chapters

i thought this manga was pretty good for the length that it was. im slightly disappointed since it's a little on the simplistic side and didn't make better use of its setting (taisho era is like the definition of deep, tragic angst). it could be im just expecting too much and the bar has been set very high with mangas like Yuuutsu na asa and Sakura Gari, which both emphasize the high level of taboo of same-sex relationships at the time and one dealing with the politics of being an heir much more. i feel like a different setting could have been used for the same end goal, however i can't say no to all the beautiful period clothing.

well done!

I don't think I've ever read a yaoi manga that can compete with this. The love in this manga is so beautiful that it makes every interaction between the main love interests st much more important. The ending was in edible and I would highly recommend this tale of a beautiful love.

Maybe because it tells the story of almost their whole life, a long time span with realistic tragic incidents, separation and reunion, plus the Tesho Era setting.. this manga just grew on me, especially the ending. Yaoi has always been unrealistic, but this one just feels different, it could be made into a movie and if the acting is good I would totally watch and cry my eyes out
