Description
From Tokyopop: Coud is a young sky pirate who discovered a girl with mysterious powers on what had seemed like a routine mission. Ren has the ability to lend Coud bizarre fighting capabilities (his arm turns into a giant blade of some sort), being part of a race of beings called Edel Reid, but being the possessor of a stone called the Elemental Gelade, she has powers even beyond the norm.
Oh man I'm pissed! That's an incompleted story! What happened to Coud and Ren again? What was Keath true motive? Was their any twist that Sha's memory was of vague? Who the hell was that masked, cloths-covering dude? Why did Cisqua smiled when she saw some silly thing on some recording device? I've waited for volumes after volumes to get there and what did I get? The author decided to to a spin-off and stopped the whole freaking progression of the story!
Now I have to read that spin-off too to get a hold of my questions? Hell NO! Everything restarts again with the new love of the tragedy of human and eremetar gerad. And the scanlator stop scanlating for ages already --- _---- So hopeless
I used to rant and rave about this series. The characters were unique, the story was simple but not boring, the art was pure eye candy yet it didn't sacrifice clarity just to boost the art. My problem was with the ending. It was so ambiguous that I kept this series on my reading list for over 6 months thinking it had been dropped by scanlators. When I found out it had ended I felt unsatisfied. Even though you could find out what happened from making assumptions and noting some small hints, I still think an extra chapter is in order to really clarify things and give a better sense of "tying off all the loose ends" In more official terms, this story had everything up and including the climax, but was completely lacking a conclusion. (No, i don't consider 2 pages at the end of an 18 volume series to be a sufficient conclusion). Then again, the very last panel suggests that the author is planning to create a new series from the ashes of this one. I hope he does and that he manages to truly finish the story as there are a lot of loose ends and untouched aspects of the plot.
Because soooo much that haven't been discovered yet! Very good. The character development told well and the story goes in balance. Passion, romance, friendship, fun and sad moment... Maybe Coud's character like his stupido or strong will is not something new, but he's still interesting and loveable though. Hehehe I like it to the point I'm relieved that the story has spin off, and still ongoing And made by the same mangaka!
I notice there's so many romances story, but since the mangaka is female maybe that's normal.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Eventhough the only sweet romance is between Coud and Ren, since the others ended as tragedy. Like Rowen and Viro, Grayarts and Cocovet, Sha and Keath... Awww
Btw, the artwork is very very very good. The name maybe a little hard to be remembered, but eventhough there are many characters, I never wrong to recognize any chara and could recall this one from what events, eventhough their appearance separated by some volumes. And the chibi version is deadly cute. Very. 12/10 for artwork.
This story was the perfect balance of serious, cute, funny, and action. Cisca is such an awesome character. The male lead is relatively well balanced with the female lead as well. I rate this 10/10.
i really l0ve this manga as in!ren and coud relationship is not a reason to love someone although their differ by being human and an edel raid,,im really touch by the story line and the art was awes0me to0!! sent my regards to the artist from the bottom of my heart!!
Its a great manga i would give it a 7 maybe an 8 but it entirely depends on what you are looking for. The story line is indeed a clinch but its not that important the focus is the relationship between Ren and coud to see how it develops and the bad guys who seek to interrupt it. And ren is also freaking damm cute Could say love at first sight ^.^ but apart from that don't expect it to be a typical manga like bleach or naruto -.-. that's all.
i read this on a recommendation. i had watched the anime first and didnt like it so much although i did like the idea of sky pirates. i still do. the powers and forms are not that original. some of them are pretty stupid (in both looks and form). actually, i think most of them look pretty dumb. the plot takes a little too long to become apparent and even then its still not too clear. but if my suspicions are correct, it is waaaayy to brutally simple. but the art is eye candy. really
Erementar Gerad is definitely one of my favorite manga. The artwork is marvelous as it is excellent and versatile. The plot is great also; I don't see anything "typical" or "generic" about it whatsoever. Even if most people out there believe it to be so, then so what? The manga is fun, very enjoyable, and gets better as read further in the later volumes.
