Improves Drastically Later On
In the beginning, it started off as the typical "cliche shoujo" where the guy is some heartless bastard, and the girl is all "perky and happy". But, the shoujo does have its good points. There's a plot twist later on, and it REALLY keeps you wanting to know more. Also, the character development is really good. We start to learn more about the guy's past, and begin to understand more. AND, he begins to change - slowly, through his interactions with Sumi Serious fangirl moments ! xD Plus, the art is gorgeus, as you can see from the cover >D It may seem a bit childish at times, but the facial expressions are conveyed pretty well.
I recommend you to read this if you have time to kill or looking for a good manga! If you've only read up to ... the first volume or second volume, and unimpressed - then, you should try picking it up and reading it till volume 3-4. Then, you can make your choice. Cause, volume 3-5 - best volumes hands down.
--currently up to volume 7; chapter 50 and waiting for the next chapter ;D

mixed feelings about it.
i love ueda rinko's works! The art and the humor and the guys (Souchirou's a hottie even if he's a bit mean)! It is something of a mix between an marriage-of-convenience-themed romance novel (i love romance novels) and my fair lady.
I had liked the first 10 chapters or so. Then I hated it. Then I liked it again around chapter 20-something or so when we find out Sumi's talent for Shogi. Then in the recent chapters 30/31, Sumi does the most idiotic things. It's like a soap opera parody now. Seriously, Ueda Rinko is better than this!

This is a shoujo about falling in love after getting married for money. This has all the right elements and it a good read so far. I am hoping the mangaka continues to work on this for quite some time because this has the potential to be an excellent shoujo manga.I do hope the mangaka takes her time and continues to develop the story and romance. I am enjoying the chemistry between the main couple and am looking forward to more. The art is right up there so the main characters are quite appealing and attractive. The character development is good. The plot has enough depth to be realistic. The story is constantly improving and deepening. There is drama and also a developing romance.
There arent enough long good romance shoujo's around showing romance development between a married couple. We need more manga's exploiting this subject!! I would also recommend Hapi Mari to those readers who like this manga. It is also about two people marrying for other reasons(money) and focuses on their developing romance.
First off, let me say I am a huge fan of Ueda-sensei's work. I've read everything I can get my hands on and most of them are wonderful.
This one, however... I can only recall being this frustrated over one other manga out of all the one's I've read. There isn't a single character who has even one lick of common sense and the melodrama is piled on so high that reading has honestly become a chore. And I'm all for willing suspension of disbelief, but there are limits even to that. The author has to meet the reader at least halfway if they want anyone to take their work seriously, but all current circumstances are simply too extreme to ever be believable.
Sumi is seriously so dumb/naive that by all rights she shouldn't even be alive. Souichirou isn't much better, acting rashly and not thinking about anything before he does it. And NONE of the characters ever learn from their many, many mistakes. Nozomu is a legitimate psychopath, constantly terrorizing Sumi, and yet she keeps allowing him to get away with the most ridiculous things ever.
And every chapter, there is some new, monumental revelation, whether it be about the company being taken over or the truth about Sumi's past. It's almost like Ueda-sensei is playing a game: How Ridiculous and Over-Dramatic Can I Make the Plot Before All My Readers Finally Get Sick of It?
I give it a 3 for the art alone.
Don't underestimate this series
There's some great character development going on here. Sumi and Souichirou just keep getting better and better as the story line gets deeper and deeper. The art is also very pretty. See for yourself!
PS Thanks Kyousui Moon for providing such speedy and high quality scanlations. =D

This manga is good. Despite the fact that the main character is a airhead, the brother is a useless person, a unrequited love from a friend turns into a stalking psycho, and the main male character refuses to listen to his heart, still a good manga. Pretty art, babyish actually. The twist is rather interesting to read though. You'll enjoy it, but sometimes you just want to give the girl a scream, or the male.

it gets better
We shouldn't be so quick to judge. It does get better around chapter 10 or so. I've read until chapter 22 and
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Souichirou learns how to cherish Sumi and a lot of cute moments happen along the way. Souichirou is not so heartless at all and Sumi is not so weak or as stupid as we think her to be. In fact, she's a genius at Japanese chess, as later chapters will reveal. Even if she was brought up in a harsh world, she was still able to become the sweet and caring person that she is. She does visit her siblings from time to time with permission from Souichirou. On the other hand, Souichirou's best friend, Nozomu is not quite the kind person he seems to be. He turns out to be a twisted person as his desire for Sumi grows very strong.

Not just another shojo...
The art is soft and cute. The story is unrealistic, but not i a bad way. It has good humor and is very charming. It is a typical shojo manga for the most part, but has some very interesting plot twists that addict you. And before you know it, the characters have their claws in you and you will want more!
I really love this manga a lot. The art is beautiful with great characters and an amazing plot. I think that the rest of the manga will end up like this.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
I think that Nozomu and Sumi are siblings. Sumi must have been either abandoned or was somehow lost in the rose garden. Also near the beginning of the manga on one of the relationship web things it said the Nozumu and Sumi were siblings. That's why they look amazingly alike. Nozumu's father also dreamed of his wife (Nozumu's mother) with a little baby. I presume that the baby is Sumi and that she might be thought of as dead. That's why it's more predictable that she was somehow lost rather than abandoned as a child. Her parents just didn't find her before her current brother found her who in fact isn't really her brother. Well that's all I think.
Full of *FACE PALM* moments. (Literally)
Personally, I find this to be the strangest manga I've ever read..! It's so cliche..the mangaka pulls out EVERY plotlines that any shoujo mangas ever have. Stupid girl, a Tsundere husband, surrounded by Crazy evil manipulative bastards that want to bring them down and...the melodrama ensues. Despite the sheer stupidity of this manga, I feel like there's a 'force' that makes me want to continue reading this!
It's not a good manga, but it can be considered a good 'SHOUJO MANGA', it is an epiphany of a good shoujo. *sigh* I can't really explain why I havent drop this manga. There must be a good reason for that, neh? ^^;
