Sumi is in love with Mitsuru, but he doesn't seem to be interested in her as a woman. Determined to look more sexy and mature, Sumi takes an experimental growth hormone that her scientist father has been developing.
However, the medicine backfires. Instead of changing into a buxom femme fatale, Sumi changes into a beautiful young man. She--he--is so gorgeous and so cool that even Mitsuru begins to take notice. Seriously WAY TOO LONG. They should've cut it off a whole volume sooner. By chapter 11 I was ready to kill someone. And don't even get me started on the ending...

If you like manga that aren't too deep and have some pretty crack-ish jokes, this one might be right up your alley.
Since I prefer my manga to have much more depth, I already knew this wasn't going to be a favourite by any means the moment Sumi's father chose to use an experimental drug on his daughter by lying to her. If that sounds like something you don't mind, then don't let my negative opinions of this story bother you!
Still, I think my favourite character was Hozumi. He lived as he wanted to and made no excuses for himself. Plus he had some of the best humour shots in the story.
So I'd say the overall story was very average to me. There were some things I liked, but too many things I didn't:
Overall rated 7 because that's 'average' to me. I honestly can't hate it because there were some good things, but also because it didn't draw me in enough to care.

Male Hozumi in any of the frilly things he liked to wear as a girl was awesome.

Dads treating their children as test subjects and not giving an ounce of real feeling for them (Mom too), most of the new characters introduced being experiments themselves, utter ridiculousness of some of the scenarios, plot moving from one holiday to another just because the mangaka can't seem to do anything beyond the shoujo 'episode' cliches (seriously? School Festival to Christmas to Valentines to Amusement Park Date? <-not bothering to check if that was the exact order but it was definitely something like it), and the thing that bothered me most... who she ended up with.
Not that there was anything wrong with Mitsuru in the beginning, but then Sumi, despite everyone else in the plot knowing, couldn't confess her own secret to him because she thought he'd hate her? If he was that type of person, he wouldn't have been the one she liked. Also, what does that say for the future of their relationship? That if she's ever embarrassed or has some major problem she won't be able to confide in him? But more than that, the mangaka had really shifted the feeling of the relationship by the end. I honestly can't remember her thinking anything of Mitsuru in the last two volumes other than 'cute'. To me, 'cute' is a younger brother she likes to be around, not a boyfriend. And of course, in stark contrast, there's Shizuka with whom she first shared a bathing suit, and went on to share secrets with, date, and confide in on no matter what she was feeling. Also, at one point, it really did seem like the mangaka was developing her character to be more attracted to Shizuka as a man than Mitsuru, the younger brother. So, it was really weak when the mangaka suddenly switched back to her ending up with Mitsuru.

I stuck through this one despite being ridiculously silly. The artwork is lovely (the gorgeous guys helped) and it was funny (not always intentionally). Then I got to the ending. Very disappointed. I feel like the mangaka realized the pairing we were expecting and was more interested in surprising the reader than giving a satisfying ending. I immediately deleted it from my collection as I will not be rereading it.
I loved it, until...

What a craptastic ending in my opinion! It's a great story until the last chapter. The last chapter seemed very rushed, like they were just in a hurry to end it. I am extremely unhappy with who she ended up with and the lack of almost any information whatsoever on how things went after that, especially with the other characters. I loved it, but I'm so digusted right now >.<

I love CUTEXGUY! It's very cute and funny, but does have some ups and downs. The main character Sumi is a typical shoujo girl. But when she turns into her alter ego he's WAY better than her! (In looks and personality) Mitsuru is a cute boy but in comparison to

This manga has some good laughs in it. I do have to say that when you write a story then you must have your loose ends all tied up. It looks like there are quite a few loose ends that have been missed to make this story weak and the characters under developed.

i like this but too many transformations got annoying...its like..cant she not transform every now and then? There were times where I saw there could have been a good drama but they just easily solved it which saddened me...I didnt have much feelings in this...

I'm so glad this is being scanlated again! CUTExGUY is just totally hilarious. A good manga to keep you entertained and in stitches. The art's great too.
Edit (6 Dec): Just caught up on vol 3... well, maybe it's just me, but I find that the manga is beginning to lose its magic. IMO too many new characters were introduced in this volume... was it necessary? I think there should have been more focus on the new relationship as well. However, I still found the close-calls (when Sumi is about it change in front of other people) funny. I'm still looking forward to the scanlation of the last volume though!
