Give it a try!

This is the first and the best manga I've read by Shinjo Mayu (I'm not fond of smutty manga though). What i like the best the slow romance between the virgin and the Akuma. It got me keep reading despite some (kind of) rape scene.

I can tell who wrote this manga at a glance. The art style, the cliches, the absolutely degrading plot.... yup. It's Mayu sensei.

The main character here, like in every other one of her stories, has NO backbone. She protests whenever the devil touches her, "noo~ no~~~" but never actually tries to stop him from abusing her further. I'm sick of seeing this type of scenes. Not to mention the lack of research that went into this. Lucifer, Satan, god she mixed up all the terms and names!!!!

Why is it a must for so many manga to have a half-rape, half-consented relation, where the one being taken says no when they actually want it but feel maybe shy or ashamed. Pfff, it's becoming boring to read. It would make it so much better to throw an OH YES in these and make it sexier instead of keeping these half-hearted,comitment-phobic dolls who seems to not be able to be ok with their sexual choice!! It is pissing me of, because it confuse the reader into not knowing if the plot is about rape, and therefore makes light of rape, which I am totally indignated about!
Sorry, just runting...

Simplistic and ridiculous, but a page-turner!

Oh gosh, this was so much an innocent-girl, dreamy romance despite the "wicked" Satan. I had fun!

Read it if you feel like peanuts and beer fluff shoujo instead of the typical candy and pop fluff shoujo--they're both cheap thrills, but one is salty and one is sweet. Don't look for meaningful character development, and enjoy the ride.

Worthless but worth the time.

I read this out of curiousity. I agree with the others that this is just worthless prattling. I don`t like the girl or the way `satan` is portrayed. If he`d been just a demon or something I`d be fine with it but the author actually used 'satan` not even lucifer. As a Christian, it`s very disturbing (even my muslim friends didnt find this amusing) the way it shows that demons can enter heaven and how satan manifests into a human and still calls himself satan. simply wtf. the smuts weren`t that extreme, typical heroine with an underdeveloped body, possessive devil and your knight in shining armor. story makes no sense and ends abruptly.
Honestly, I think Shinjo Mayu does batter than this, but this was worth passing the time with.

HOT manga! Great graphic art cover

I have read this years ago in 2002. Oh my! (Back then, English version was not available, got the Thai version). Yes! Mayu Shinjo is famous, her works are translated into many languages.

As for the English scanlation, I wish the editing were higher quality. and I wish they scan the japanese version, not chinese. sad

Mayu's artwork was really very great at this period (beginning of 2000).
It's in between her artwork progress. It's the transition of 'after' "Kaikan Phrase" but 'before' "Haou Airen". This kind of artwork kinda makes the story dark and hot.
After "Love Celeb", Mayu Shinjo starts her new style of artwork and doesn't return to this "Akuma no Eros" artwork style anymore. Sad... the guys with this artwork styles are hot!
I love Ayakashi Koi Emaki very much too, even the new artwork. Of course, I began to accept her new artwork. Shinjo's plot become more comedic.

this was very unique work of Mayu SHinjo. once again the art never sieze to AMAZE me. (expected of her) but what really interessted me was that the devil, or satan, who is like the most evilist dude (said by other dudes) actually falls in love.!!! and like hes meant to have a heart of death and hate and evil-ness. And he is DESPERAELTY in love with Mui. That really made my....heart melt? anyways overall a decent manga. it is reccomeneded to those who enjoy desperate love crazed bishies or bad boy turn soft (tsundere?)...

Research is a Good Thing

Shinjo Mayu has almost no knowledge of Christianity whatsoever. Most of the time the religious aspects seem like they're only there to make the story more "edgy." If the author had set out to make a parody of "dark" shoujo cliches (and I use the work "dark" liberally), then this would have been a masterpiece.

As for the actual story, both of the main characters are extremely bland. The heroine, Miu Sakurai, is weak-willed school girl with no desires other than to be liked by the men around her. The devil on the other hand is not the devil of Christian mythology, but rather a lecherous, emo pretty boy with black wings whose biblical origins serve mainly as a point of angst and unnecessary drama. I'm not even going to go into St. Michael the Archangel.

At times the plot swings around and introduces inexplicable, out-of-nowhere situations as if it knows it's a shoujo manga and wants to cram in every cliche in the book. The result is a badly-paced, awkward mess.

However, if you're looking for a manga that's so bad it's good, then this might be for you. Then again it also might be so bad it's horrible. If you're looking for a truly "edgy" series that explores the darkness of heaven and hell, I'd recommend Kaori Yuki's Angel Sanctuary.

Smut at it's... mediocre?
by Eishelin

The reason why I found this manga mediocre at the best, was probably due to the fact that my expectations were higher. I tend to enjoy plots with some elements from the oldest known fantasy book, so I thought I would enjoy a good story with some explicit heated action added. What I got was some explicit heated action with a little bit of story added, dragged out to four volumes.

The characters are mostly one-dimensional and quite boring, except for the rave-demon-boy, which actually saw some character development and was quite amusing. Then again the only person whose interpretation of the infamous biblical figure Lucifer I've found acceptable is Milton.

There are a lot of those "sudden appearances" and "sudden revelations" and though they are intended to be that way, they actually aren't that surprising.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Yes of course the king of the underground would have a girlfriend that is demon. And the sudden "Hey, Lucifer, I'm actually an archangel, one of your worst enemies" did seem sudden, but predictable.

Overall, for some people there might be too much plot for it's genre, but for me there was just a bit too little. And the art was acceptable, for shoujo - probably more than so.

Worth a shot ;)

I remember enjoying this the first time I read it but now... it makes me cringe quite a lot. I enjoy the concept of exploring a romance for Satan; after all, he IS a fallen angel so the possibility of him containing traces of good is inevitable. After all, he is a product of God who is inherently good.

Philosophy aside, this is super smutty. However, the art isn't great (Mayu is always crap at drawing faces side on... the chins look really weird!) and the heroine is annoying and always acts like she's being raped when she wants it "No... Please!" and seriously, it makes me want to hit her.
But, for a light read, this is fun.
