Too mellodramatic

I have always found japanese incest fiction to be sweet and exciting. Of course, i dont have a sister in real life, so i cant really relate to the haters. However, the endings always have a lonely feeling. Usually ambigious too. This particulat title is just too mellodramatic. Everyones acts Holding in there true feelings and because of that, lots of bad things happen...

Don't listen to the haters

There's a lot of people saying that this takes a huge downward turn at chapter 37 and onward, but this doesn't come out of nowhere.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Ayano discusses having a healthy relationship with her mother and father many chapters before she starts selling herself and being much more of a yandere, yet the father is missing when Sakuta comes to her house.
I guess there could have been a little better foreshadowing, but I don't think that it's completely out of left field.

Other than that, the ending feels a little bit rushed, but I've seen much, much worse endings. It's also a bit on the H side, but, again, I've seen much worse.

Great art; dramatic turn, not in a good way

incest
present, but those undertones were somewhat there from the beginning, so it wasn't completely out of left field. What was ridiculously bizarre was the sudden yandere change for one of the characters in the middle of the series, leading to a downward spiral for the manga. If you're looking for something that just seeks to shock you and look pretty at the same time, like School Days, this is something for you, I guess....

With that being said, the ending is NOT like School Days. However, the journey is, and that would be off-putting for most, as it was for me.

What a weird 5-6 chapter ending...

This comic was getting interesting and then BOOM... downward spiral to crappyness. Author could have done a better job.

First time rating something low in about a decade on Baka-Updates.

If M. Night Were A Manga Author And He Ran Out of Ideas

As a person who is currently reading the manga as I type this, I completely and wholeheartedly concur with Topiary and MangaGhost; I got so fed up with the manga's retardation that I felt the need to warn any others that try to read this. The story was going in a realistic direction and then everything just suddenly takes a random turn into a field of over dramatic twists and turns that came out of nowhere. At times, like when the protagonist was confronted and came to terms with his mother's condition, I felt this manga pull on my heartstrings. HOWEVER, the end result of that is quite possibly the most hamfisted attempt at writing I've ever seen. ALONG WITH THE GIRLFRIEND'S SUDDEN PSYCHOSIS AFTER BEING A MORE OR LESS NORMAL GIRL? I can't even put my reaction into words. All in all, manga was pretty good until like chapter 32; gradually spiraled into F-Class writing. Oh well. At least the ero was drawn well.

What the heck happened?!

It started off somewhat interesting and I really liked the character designs. Then it just becomes a disjointed mess. The underhanded ploys by the music management was interesting and it made you want to know how the band would survive. The hints of incest in the beginning was light and not in your face. The girlfriend Ayano was sympathetic, shy and sweet. The family issues made you want to see that resolved in some way. All of this was pretty decent and they just threw it out the window!

One character goes crazy and it feels like it comes out of left field because there's no real build up for it. Plus it seems out of character and used awkwardly to shove that character aside. They kind of retcon to try to explain the situation, but that was still just bad. There's another character that has yuri tendencies that again comes out of nowhere. Another character that seemed to be a regular just disappears till the very end. One character gets killed abruptly to force the plot to head in a specific direction. The story becomes borderline-H and wastes a lot of time on that. It would have been cool if the guy had been called out for being such a dog, but no the story has no real "guts" to do that. I could go on and on...

I think this had potential and it could have gone in so many different ways. They could have focused on the drama of the music industry, or the drama of an incestuous relationship, or the drama of high school romance. Instead they tried to do it all and they didn't take the time to do it right. It comes off feeling rushed and forced at certain points. The story would have benefited more if it had been 10-15 volumes. The end is left in a sort of happy, but ambiguous state which comes off as a cop-out. Come on have some balls and take it to a conclusion! All in all I was disappointed.

Bait and switch

It starts out lighthearted and interesting and quickly spirals into a contrived tragedy for tragedies sake. If you're looking for fun, engaging characters, or comedy you're in the wrong place.

I really don't know what else to say about this one. I enjoyed it up until right around chapter 24 at which point the characterization starts to fall off the deep end. Tragedy is one of my favorite genres, but this is simply not the way to do it. The tragedy in this comes across as impulsive at best and contrived at worst.

My biggest let down was that the plot with the mother goes nowhere. She's killed off in an almost hysterical way, and is only used as a plot device to drive the brother and sister closer together. Furthermore the girlfriend, who was initially sympathetic, is written off as a lunatic instead of actually resolving their relationship. And the comic relief / childhood friend disappears halfway through and we never see her again. All in all it just felt forced.

Ero, only ero...

The main romantic relationship in this series is a physical one. The female turns into a bitch at chapter 37+ and their "ero" relationship starts at chapter 24. So, stop at chapter 23 if you don't want to see that. If you can ignore/stand the ero and the Miss Bitch-of-a-girlfriend, then feel free to follow the series.

Other than that, it's decent enough, with the music theme and some serious issues presented here and there.

I never understand why Japanese authors like sexual harassment as plot device.

I loved how at first the chapters were teasingly sad. Till chap 36 I was hooked and BAAM chp 37 there goes its innocence.....maybe im ranting but IMHO that twist was not needed
