Description
Kino Hime is a 15 year-old girl who just started her first year in a high school for voice actors (Seiyuu) called Hiiragi Academy. She dreams of becoming the voice of the main character in one of the most popular series in Japan, "Magic Fighter Lovely Blazers". The academy is the number one school which allows students to make their voice acting debuts and also includes other departments such as general education, sports, music, acting, and art.

Of course this Academy is full of celebrities, too. Two of Hime's upperclassmen are none other than the two rising idols of the group "Idol Unit AQUA".

But Hime's dream is hard to fulfill. Her voice is not really suitable for a voice actress and her new classmate Kudou Senri doesn't waste time in pointing that out. Will Hime prove everybody, especially Senri, what she is capable of despite the first appearance?

i LOVED this series at first.. and i still would if it didn't have such an axed ending. everything was left totally unsatisfied. the mangaka could've expanded more on yamada's past... and hime's friends from school, as well. but she kinda just ended it halfway. the whole thing with mizuki, too that was just over and done with so quickly. this manga could've been like 5 more volumes, easily..... the ending doesn't seem like an ending AT ALL. only one thing had a closure and everything else was kind of out in the open T_____T THERE WAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR THIS MANGA AND IT JUST MAKES ME SAD TO SEE THAT THE MANGAKA JUST GAVE UP D:

When I started this series with the first page, I thought I had seen this kind of drawing somewhere. And then I found out that this mangaka was the one who created Special A, the manga that I hate so much. But still I gave this manga a try and I definitely have no regreat with my decision.

It took quite long - 2 volumns - for this manga to get pass the opening to the main plot. This is what makes this manga quite unpredictable and thus different from other cliche shoujo.

The characters are well-developed,

The art is fine though I sometimes found it hard to tell Mizuki and Senri a part because of the similarity of their hairstyles

The ending is quite disappointing. I expect a kiss or at least a hug :-<

All in all, I think this series is a nice read and worths a try smile

Super great story. It's funny has likeable characters and is very lighthearted and wonderful.... until the stupid ending. Gosh I'm so disappointed by it. It came so fast and it was so unsatisfying!!! Ugh I'm gonna read something else to fill the void.

It's obvious that I'm not the target audience but it really shouldn't have been that bad. Every character feels paper thin and retardedly so. Kino has no voice training but somehow the principal interviewed her and noticed her masculine voice. So what happens you ask... she earns a stupid nickname, drops to the bottom of her class, meets the eccentrics there, somehow gets into a match against two famous upperclassmen, butchers two roles while excelling at another, and then has everyone running to meet her.

Some people see this as a diamond, I see this as a pile of ****. Maybe you'll see what I so obviously missed.

Edit: Didn't rate this on the account that I barely made it through the first chapter and the second didn't help.

So 10 will have to do.
I like how the characters are developed, and the plot moves at a nice pace.
So when I reached the end of chapter 67; I was quite disappointed.
More so, what caught my mind was the relationship between mother and elder daughter.
It has a lot of potential...
I'm also wondering if the mother will EVER be proud of her eldest daughter. ):

When it revealed that the little sister was going to be on a movie I was like, "Woah..." And the part where the guy - I forgot his name...was it the director or Senri... - anyways, it was like her disappointment was tangible.

So this manga made quite an impact on me.

I picked up this manga for one simple reason - I am a seiyuu addict. So I thought it could be interesting reading about this kind of thing. At first, I wasn't completely satisfied, the series seemed..well...a little crude. But when Shiro appeared for the first time, I could feel the manga slowly changing along with her.
If there is something that I really love in manga, it's a good character development. And I feel I can say that Seiyuu Ka definitely has the development. The way the characters interact is very intriguing and I love most of the side characters as well. For a while I kept thinking I would appreciate if there was more from the school side, but as it is right now, I think I'm content.

Most of the characters are likeable and the ones that are not (...) are not bad just to be bad, but it's all in a way that makes up the story - it's an important part that shapes up the other characters.

The plot seems to be done well and there aren't any big plot holes included. I have a big hope for how will the series continue on.

The art is really adorable and I just melt to their smiles and can't help but cheer them on. Only thing that could make this series better would be dram- an anime adaptation! Since there are drama CDs out there already.

I had originally rated this a 6 after I read the first two volumes, and stopped reading it. Until, like so many of the other reviews, I saw all the releases come out and had nothing to read - SO GLAD I came back to it. 9 now, may improve.

This manga is cute, sweet, and has enough angst to keep it all even. I personally hate love triangles, but the ones here are not obnoxious.

Hime herself was a bit of a dull Pollyanna to me, but she seems to be growing. Kuduo Senri has always seemed to jump off the page for me everytime he has appeared. Hime's relationship with her mother and her manager's reaction to it has potential to be interesting.

The secondary and tertiary characters are this manga's strength, I think. from odd directors and make up artists, to Aqua and Hime's friends, I want to know what they think and what happens to them.

I'll make this clear right now. I absolutely HATED Special A. Why? Because the heroine pissed me off with her obsession to be number one over the male love interest. So, when Seiyuu Ka-! was first released, I clicked the title to check out the series info, as I am a seiyuu fanatic, so naturally, I was interested. However, once I saw who the author was, it killed my interest right there, cause like an idiot, I assumed that if I disliked one work by a mangaka, I would dislike the rest.

BOY WAS I WRONG.

I gave in after about 40 or so chapters were released due to the lack of good shoujo that was being put out these days, and told myself, "I don't have to continue reading if I don't like it."

And so, up to the latest chapter as of July 7, 2012, I do NOT regret it at ALL.

In my eyes, it has everything that a good shoujo needs. A likable and motivated heroine, an interesting male love interest, a good plot, and last but not least, a finely slow-paced, but moving ROMANCE.

Not once was I bored while reading this manga. It's funny, slightly romantic, and sad. But what really takes the cake is how touching it can be during or after the three descriptions listed above.

If you love shoujo, do yourself a favor and read this manga. You will not regret it. biggrin

Like others, I initially didn't think much of this series at first. In fact, I discovered this a long time ago but never gave it a chance because It looked typical and stuffed with cliches. But I couldn't have been more wrong. There was no lame melodrama, unrealistic misunderstandings nor sappy romance (in fact the romance is super light). Everything was genuine, pure hearted and overall felt refreshingly energetic and hilarious. And the characters in this story, especially the main one, have quirky qualities and personalities that set them apart from being just your generic shoujo characters (and I don't mean generic as in they're usually all the same, but more so in their attitudes and tendencies). The main girl was incredibly strong willed and probably one of the most optimistic and forward characters I've ever seen. However, just that alone didn't mean it was entirely realistic all the time (because at times her mental strength almost seemed inhuman, or maybe I'm just too negative to understand her optimism) but it still sets her apart from the rest and that I deem as something worth appreciating. I admired her.

On top of that, the last couple volumes (as of now) went surprisingly in-depth with the male lead
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
well his past at least. It made me so sad ;_;
- something I wasn't sure I would see with any of the characters at all (or at least to that extent). It completely wowed me. Not only did I not expect it, but I didn't think it would be so fitting and well thought out.

But long review short: The characters combined with the plot were simply unique. It was really enjoyable. And I can't help but want more (especially in terms of romance *__*)

Great Shoujo

Where to start. Overall I dislike shoujo, so I went into this series with low expectations. I was really blown away.

Everything is absolutely hilarious and you have a wonderful mix of characters who interact in interesting ways. An adorably clumsy, cat-crazy tsundere for one. A main character who is actually likeable and reacts in much more hilarious and realistic ways than the typical shoujo fluff-for-brains.

And possibly the best part of this series is the complete lack of angst. Indeed, although we are given glimpses of the darkness in some of the characters' pasts, they never wallow in it.

Very refreshing, light and funny. Get past a rocky first chapter and it is all uphill from there.
