Comparison

Yes, I understand the comparison to Hana no Namae. On first look it seems to be to follow a similar theme, but as much as I loved Hana no Namae (I own it) I always felt it was a little dark. Both Kei and Chouko seemed so damaged. In Kore wa Koi no Hanashi, even though I would prefer Haruka to be a little older, I see both she and Shinichi as not quite so damaged. I can see them eventually being able to overcome and have normal lives. Both of them learning how it feels to connect to another person. Whether they end up together or with other people doesn't matter as much as watching them become more complete individuals (although I must confess that I would love them to eventually end up together). I also love Oogaki! He is both the instigator and the moral conscience in this tale. He makes me laugh! I can't wait to meet his wife. I also want to see Satomi find someone as well. I can't wait to see how things unfold!!!!!

Its a sweet but a little bitter story. To be honest, the year age gap doesn't bother me as long as its done in a realistic way (though the crush at a young age is pretty far fetched). There are some rage inducing moments but it almost always gets resolved quickly.

Its a taboo subject, but as humans, a lot of us are secretly drawn to the taboo. Its not the glorification of taboo, but rather how in the end, we are all human and just want to be with those who we love even if society were to look down upon it along with all the emotions that incurs.

Even if not socially able, even broken humans need love. No one really wants to be alone.

Unexpectedly Refreshing

When I first picked up this manga, I thought it was going to be a disturbing love story between a 31 year-old and 10 year-old embarrassed But, boy was I ever wrong!!

The story is so pure and it really gets to you (especially how the lives of main characters have played out so far). And, to the disbelievers out there, no there isn't any sort of love story (at least I don't expect there to be until she's of legal age).

It only has 21 chapters out thus far, so I'll come back and edit my review after having finished the story, but for now it's doing really well in my book! Hats off to the mangaka!! XD

Takes the subject more seriously-

- while it makes a love story(maybe). It's more than okay.

The friends don't quite seem to be teasing that the girl has a crush on the guy and more pushing him into it, which doesn't quite make sense. Also, I felt it was unnecessary to so quickly establish that the girl has a crush.

The art has a nice bigness to it, and I like some of the zoomed in expressions.

I actually don't think the feelings are very explored but things are made easy to understand. The guy is pretty likeable and I don't think some of the shoujo tropes that sometimes annoy me are present at all. But he's also a bit too immature for his age to the point that it bends credibility, mainly because we're seeing the story from his point of view.

Another thing is that no one really struggles with how highly inappropriate/illegal it would be. Instead of saying that its a bother, it might have been more interesting for him to think about it a bit more, and about how to deal with it, with the audience being privy to it. Not to say he never realizes that it'd be viewed as possibly criminal.

It's not quite as serious as I would mind but I like the optimism in it. It isn't about fetishizing the little girl which is a big plus.

I think this manga is really good. The mangaka conveys the feelings of the characters well. Also, it's not only about the possible romance between the two main characters. The story focuses in many aspects of life. And one more thing, don't be misled by the cover and the synopsis. I actually didn't have a plan to read because of that however because of the comments i read here, i tried it. Good thing though.
Salute to the mangaka biggrin

Hana no namae alternative version

Indeed this resembles Hana no namae a LOT. (loved HnN) but its still very good. here I can picture the male falling for the girl when she reaches her teenage years, and Iam totally okay with it. Its totally different from Usagi drop simply because in Usagi Drop, the male and the female are like father-daughter

yeah I know the end of the manga of UD, and I HATED IT
.
The artwork is quite pretty and I like the male guy a lot, he is not a pedo (yet XP). The little girl is also adorable^.^

I agreed with Monkry. and Somehow it was a bit too forced? I kept being reminded of Hana no Namae when reading this manga. Especially the way it was carried out. It's only the cat substituting flowers that makes it different.

Another shoujo, not really touching. This come from a girl who cried when watching every single episode of fruits basket.

The story is pure in its essence. I love how the author managed to bring out realistic emotions between two people with a 20 year age gap. slice of life themes as good as this are rare nowadays. No lolicon stuff present in this manga (as some of you might misunderstand by judging it) If you like to try a manga with a different atmosphere compared to others, i recommend this smile

a bit slow so far

The story is just slowly starting to unfold, so it's a bit slow. It's slow in a good way though. Slow not in a way where the author is buying time but in a way where you can just sit and watch the characters slowly grow.

It does get a bit uncomfortable with its themes whenever the male sees the girl as a older female. And right now there doesn't seem to be any sort of real conflict in the story.

I would like to see where the author goes with this, because just the relationships alone as it stands can not make a proper story. The problem with a story like this is that to have romantic tension, they're inevitably going to bring in the little girl into the story somehow, which is a little strange.
