For people who think the characters in this manga is like cardboard. I need to question your ability to read character and understanding the story. They are far from one dimensional character. They have personality, way of thinking, background story, and people around them contribute to our understanding of their character. They are similar with human. This human side of them contribute to their relationship so it seems so real and it touch me. No cliche and unrealistic approach like shounen manga for example, "I will save you because you are my friend" to someone they just met several days ago. I am surprised this manga doesn't have psychological tag.

The story is also interesting. The setting seems fictional but it's actually kinda close to underworld in real world.

Character development is amazing, with complicated past and present, emotional and heart wrenching. I am very excited to see more

TL😀R Art is Good, Action is Good, Story is Bad, Characters are Bad,
Art is good, characters look distinct from one another and action scenes are pretty easy to follow.

Story is nonexistent, the whole manga feels like a prequel to something that already came out, things kinda just happen for no real reason. I still have no idea what this manga is about other than people hate and wanna kill each other, why? because.

Characters are mostly badly written, evil characters are just evil for the sake of being evil. good characters are a bunch of damsels in distress. if they're not, they are completely forgotten and have no involvement in anything and just stand around and sometimes say words, I'm talking about the dark-skinned lady who is one of the main characters, I'm even kidding when I say forgotten she doesn't have any involvement what so ever in anything for a good 20-25 chapters.

Action is pretty good, it's nicely paced so it doesn't feel too long and it's well drawn.

Violence/Mature is just there to make evil characters seem more evil and doesn't affect the "story" what so ever.
Characters get raped, why? to make bad guy more evil. Characters get killed, why? to make bad guy more evil.

Good story and keeps you on the edge for what is going on. It deals with discrimination, and it has really bloody scenes and if you are expecting hope from this manga I would say just do not. Characters are really interesting all of them, the girls are not annoying, all of the characters seem like they are keeping secrets and you really need to put attention to what you are reading.

And tbh a deaf characters being a badass!

i just wanna shout it....I LOVE THIS MANGA its very well written the pace is good it keeps you on the edge of your seats and the characters are AMAZING and realistically written and i just love alex after looking at anime where the female protagonist are often too nice or too damn preaching or just so damn annoying i love how realistic and heartwarming her relationships are with nic and worrick shes not here to be the light of there lives or make them better people but instead she becomes as close to them as they are to each other (i am a nic and alex shipper alex and nic for life!!!) she is kind and caring while not being having too much of it a warning though this manga can get very dark and gruesome (its seinen for a reason) so the faint of heart and weak of stomach keep away

First off let me say, the only real reason I found this is because I was browsing the upcoming anime when it came out, it looked interesting, found the manga.. and never looked back. I love how the character's are playing out, it is a bit ..... much, if you are the queasy type, but I for one, love this manga. I am so happy that it's being released in english, and I hope she keeps it up for quite some time. The character's are all nicely intertwined, the story is captivating, you get left on a cliff hanger with every chapter that ends.. I also enjoy how the author skips and goes back to the past and sews that all up nicely in it's own pretty bowed box.. If you are one that enjoys a gritty fast paced underworld kind of manga... read this. You won't be disappointed

First with the good: The two leads are awesome, have interesting and fleshed out back stories that continue to be revealed and i like the sign language subplot. The art is of course amazing and the panel-direction is great and very good for a beginner. Actions like killing actually have consequences and the series doesn't rely on nudity and sexualized rape to get the drama and suspense going. The author could go places if she steps up her writing or gets a partner because not everything is sunshine and bloodshed in the land of fake Madripoor.
I can´t really describe the setting for one (the later introduced pseudo X-men called Twilights stick out especially) which is bad when you get outside of your opening arc and rely on in it heavily to drive the narrative.
The cast also exploded way too fast at once to probably to get the nonsensical prequel spin-off "Gangsta.:Cursed." going and the characterizations and motivations are thus a bit unclear. Some come off as Shounen rejects too.
Then we have our "whore with a heart full gold" leading lady Alex who is just boring and confusing so where are the positive comments about her coming from? She has the usual past of abuse and turns out to have random angelic quality like singing and parenting. What a twist and i don´t think that she fits in the world as the story goes on as she looks nice in the backgrounds, asks questions for the reader and gets to play the damsel on top. I couldn't characterize her if i tried as her big breast don´t count as that. Another problem is that the series developed an unnecessary cruel streak over time and the overall atmosphere is starting to suffer while the series direction is becoming less clear by the chapter. As if the author ran out of ideas... I could see my rating rise again in a few volumes or that i drop the manga but that would be a shame as it started off with great promise and i like the themes. At least things are staying "suspenseful". The similar Black Lagoon (8/10 and the anime is a bit superior), Gunslinger Girl (9/10) and Until Death Do Us Part (9,5/10) are overall more rounded so start with them and her new series Doodle is directionless and unclear from the start so i gave up on it immediately.
Update: I finally gave up after Vol.7 before the manga completely destroyed itself and Kosuke shouldn´t have juggled 3 projects at the same time. Her art is strong so she should turn into a full time artist instead as writing didn´t turn out to be her game in the long run.

One of the best series I have ever read. I am soo sick of the childish and lame ecchi series with terrible characters and plot lines. This is refreshingly adult and is brilliant. I breath of fresh air. The art is spectacular, and so are all the characters. The story is dark, yet beautiful at the same time. It blends so many aspects into one in a great way. There really is no downside other than it sometimes geting a little confusing.. To sum this story up quickly, it takes place in a world of humans and superhumans. The setting is NYC/Tokyo style city with the mob running things. These superhumans called "Twilights" are persecuted by regular humans and need to take medicine to survive. THe story follows a pair of male Twilights and their everyday lives. They come upon a broken woman named Alex and she enters their everyday struggle but comes to rely and care about them. It is a MUST read. Cheers and enjoy!

It's great. Not the most original,but certainly has a LOT of potential.One thing I like about this is that the characters are very likable. It might get a bit confusing at first when they start introducing new faces here and there,but it draws you to them.

I read this mainly because I thought it had pretty decent art, and I tend to overlook a lot of good series because of this.But surprisingly enough,the art in Gangsta was too gorgeous to skim through that it even made me sort of jealous.lol.
I don't really have much to complain about;it's fresh,the action is decent,and it's got tons of really great characters. A lot of mysteries here and there,and that's something to look forward to even more through the course of the series. Definitely made me an instant fan.
