Hold on

do not claim on the first chapter for having incongruity about the chip in the brain; Because "cold blooded murderer" is just an expression to denote a murderer who executed a plan to kill to the letter does not mean that his brain does not produce acting chemicals or even brain waves. said chip will not explode if the subject devises an assassination plan. But if in case of retention of activity in a certain area when it coincides with psychomotor signals from the extremities. This was clarified by the mangaka himself. And I'm not the devil

pretty sure that was just a generic explanation for them. basically i think this is based on the assumption that this world has a bit better understanding of the human mind, and they used that to place the chip in the area of his brain that was related to acts of violence/murder. so if he sends enough impulses there it would activate the chip and boom. the overexcited explanation was just an explanation not an in depth detail of how it works.

inconsistent plot lines to base a story on....

The first chapter is inconsistent! They try to implant a chip in the head of a "a cold bloody thirsty murderer without any human emotions", and this chip would trigger the brain to explode on the condition "if your brain gets over exited enough to kill someone".
A cold blooded murderer wouldn't have much emotion while killing or planning to kill someone, because it is a cold blooded murderer! The people that get exited are the people that kill in the heat of the moment. Has the mangaka read even the tiniest bit on human psychology before beginning with the plot lines? WTF?
I couldn't bear to read any further...

I really enjoyed reading this manga. The focus of it is not the controversial setting, but the process of how the main character gradually rediscover and reintegrate into the world around him, and how the world he comes into contact with comes to accept his existence - it made me really root for 042. Of course, there are parts to this manga that are quite idealistic, but overall the development was worth reading. The ending is to be expected; I am also glad that the author did not try to take it the opposite way.

Not the best execution for a supposedly interesting and controversial topic. The author did not dare step beyond the most superficial philosophical dilemmas which results in a mediocre presentation of stale entertainment.

Similar to a movie?

Has anyone seen Greenfingers? Its a similar premise to this manga in that criminals are taken out of prison and put into work in public areas.

It has a nice premise and great interactions between characters like the blind girl. Sometimes I find the antagonists in the story to be a little over exaggerated.

I love suspenseful drama, even if it isn't very realistic. Kind of dark and it's emotionally difficult to read at times, but I like the characters and how they portray "Oshinii" as being almost a child. It's nice to see how everyone develops and connects, although the story is slow moving at times.

If i like a manga i read it, if not i don´t. I read this biggrin. This Manga isn´t something you have to read, but if you don´t you might miss something. Its really interesting, kind of reminds me of some other mangas, only without that Kung-Fu-Stuff. 10 Points

A great manga. I've never felt so attached to a character. Number 042 is a great example that I think anyone could relate to in a small way. I'm usually not one for an action diluted slice-of-life, but I suggest this to anyone that reads seinen.
