Cute love... triangle? What.

Okay, the main reason why I like Hatsukoi Limited is not because of the plot or characters, but the about of love interests it had going. The main characters all had love interests and tied with one another somehow - a lot of unrequited love going. Main con this manga has is that it might be confusing to those who 'want' to try reading it. I introduced it to my sister, but she said it was very confusing and didn't know/remembered who liked who.

this is about several middle and high school students and their first love.

the story is light, funny and heart soothing.
probably will make you remember your high school memories.

you'll find some character's personalities that probably will make you remember some of your friends in highschool too.. the funny buddy who loves to talk perverted things, the overly serious buddy, big scary guy, cute girls who love to do silly things, beautiful almost perfect girl whom all your friends adore...etc
you'll feel connected with the characters and the situations.

i have watched the anime too, and it feels even more fun to see the characters animated.
too bad they didn't include chapter 31 of the manga into anime. you can see the "cute" and "shy" side of Misaki in that chapter.
that's one of the best chapter of this manga IMO.

and as usual, nice beautiful art by Kawashita Mizuki-sensei!
too bad this manga only lasted 4 volumes. maybe it got axed by Shueisha.

but even though it's short, the ending really satisfied me.
(her most popular work, ICHIGO 100% left me unsatisfied with its ending.)

I really recommend you to read this manga!

The first time I came into contact with Hatsukoi Gentei english scanlations was when it first came out (Back in what, 07,08?), and I did manage to finish it though without much interest. I had deemed it inferior to Ichigo 100% which I felt dwelved deeper into relationships and managed to actually immerse the readers into the setting and Love Triangle.

Fast forward to 2011-ish, I bought the completed 4 tankobou of Hatsukoi Gentei in Japanese and read it all over again. Everything seemed so different. I'm not sure if it's because I matured, the language difference or the higher quality art, but the story felt so much stronger-- so moving that I felt compelled to write this.. Disappointment, jealousy heart-racing infatuations- all encapsulated and vividly described in everyone's stories. While I didn't obviously go through each and every unique experience of first love, I felt like I could relate to the complex portrayal of liking someone.

I guess some stated that it was seemingly shallow, there was far less development with such a complex array of characters. While I am somewhat agreeable, we gotta realise, guys, that this is first love (Hatsukoi). Weren't all (if not most) of our first love like that? Shallow infatuations, albeit with the power to rock the steadiest of hearts. Oh well.. Maybe you can give it a try again if the first time didn't stick with you smile
Get the Tankobou!

Light, sweet, but takes concentration

As the title indicates, this is a story about first loves. As with real life, there are a bajillion different main characters whose lives intertwine, and as they grow older, they have some invaluable experiences. This is the kind of slice-of-life manga that makes you want to have your first love again.

It ended very nicely (if you can call it an end) after quite a bit of confusion. If it's too complicated, re-read or watch the anime.

This is certainly a strange manga. Various characters keep popping up and makes every thing confusing. But if you pay attention closely (as in read everything, not just skipping through), you'll find this manga quite enjoyable once you finished it. It won't be your favorite manga of all time. It also isn't a heartwarming love story. And it probably wouldn't last very long in your memory. But it's definitely something everyone can enjoy. The ending is also nice, there's nothing to be disappointed about. Although it leaves something ambiguous, it doesn't feel like it's incomplete. It's not a must read. But if you have a free sunday afternoon with nothing to do, it will certainly entertain you.
The art is nice. The plot isn't serious, but somewhat interesting and relatable. The romance is okay. Overall a very decent manga.

Doesn't quite work out well

First of all, spreading the "story" out between too many characters gets really messy, leaving very little room for actual character development.
Second, the manga is taking itself way too serious, which makes many things seem forced. Could have used much more comedy to lighten it up a notch.
Good points are the artwork and *some* characters. (and that you're done after 600 pages)

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I personally didn't like Arihara Ayumi choice, why can't the girl ever choose the outcast, why must it always be the pretty-boy?

It's a different experience, i think i've never even heard about a manga that tells the story that way, in short relacionated stories, so, it's interesting to experience it and jump to your own conclusions.

I couldn't feel very touched even by the parts that seen to have the objective of being touching.

Except for the GREAT Kawashita's artwork, this manga is just.... average and silly.

I'm amazed by female drawings, and in that point, the manga made me quite happy.
But in all the others, it's just.... so so.

If you don't know what to read next, give it a try.

you can't really hate this manga yet at the same time you can't love it.
it's one of those things that you get through then you ask yourself is that it?
there are some interesting parts and the fact that it is structured like a many mini-series all intertwined with each other gives it a little edge.
it's not average yet it is not brilliant.

Good "plot" terrible execution

Hatsukoi limited doesn't really focus on a large plot, however it focuses on a small plot for each character about their first love. Which would normally be fine, except that each character gets 1-2 chapters a volume, and I never really got attached to any of the characters. I think the manga would have been much better if it was just a series of oneshots in the same setting, because splitting the stories up so much really takes away most of the appeal.
