Spoiler (highlight to view)
the only reason it had a horrible ending cuz the popularity in shaman king had declined or sumthing (look it up on wikipedia)
"In November of 2004, Shaman King was canceled by Weekly Shonen Jump. Shaman King was let go due to declining popularity in Jump's fan polls (indicated by their willingness to release the final completed manga volume (Vol. 32) if there was a great enough fan response).[1] This cancellation was untimely given that the series was nearing its end.[2] Release of the final volume had been suspended indefinitely, but was released in spring of 2006.[3]
Volume 32 ends with Yoh going to sleep to prepare for the final battle with Hao; the final page is viewed as Manta's dream, which features Hao as a princess with Yoh and his friends on their way to rescue "her". The reason for that is because Anna was speaking to Manta as if Hao was the person in need of rescue. The page contains the words "Owari" ("The End") and next to that, in front of Horohoro's sword, is a mandarin orange, also called "mikan" which is the Japanese word for "incomplete"."
(from wikipedia)
so the author had to finish the whole series but it didnt turn out well
i wish the popularity hadnt dropped so the ending wouldve been better
other than the ending i luv the series

This Manga is one of my all time favorite because all the characters are really interesting. each one is unique and the story is good. What really hooks me in this Manga is the relationship of Yoh and Anna and the value it always instill throughout the whole series: TRUST. I'm just glad that after 10yrs of its serialization Hiroyuki Takei decided atlast to give it 's true ending which of course, us fans, have been waiting for this past years.
I'm definitely giving it a 10. ^_^v whatever the outcome of its ending is.

This manga was the BEST manga i have ever read (i read hundreds xD) in my point of view Yoh+Anna had the best personalities and the best eyes xD...
Some of the fight scenes were a bit long but the relationship between the characters and the story are great (all the characters)
Yes it isnt the most original, but the character's personalities and the way the author made the characters react to situations was pleasing
and the artwork towards the end is really nice.
Anna had the coolest personality ever
Yoh was just plain awesome (Hao waz too)
Together they are just amazing
They are opposites, but so alike
Note: Volumes 19+20 are nice for romance fans
the best romance ever created
I am a major shounen/romance/fantasy/adventure/action/supernatural fan but this series had it all

Such an amazing story that it seems as if it should go on forever... cute cute shamans and powerful friendship between them all... it's very SWEET <3 not to mention the humor throughout the whole thing
yet the thing that really bugs me is the ending.. just... didn't seem like it ended...very indefinite..

[edit by mod: SPOILERS AHEAD!]
hi there.
i have to say, this is a fantastic manga, some of the best arts, history is superb and very well done like anyone other.
so why i give 0.
simply, the last 4 best and inevitable fights DO NOT EXISTE, the author simply don't made.
the final, is in a midle of the 4th final figth, i don't want to tell anything of the last chapter cause i dont want to tell how it ends, but at least you will cry, and will hate with all your be this author.
so if you want to se some of the best manga, read until the nunber 32, and imagine the last fights...(man imagine the figth yoh vs silver, the author simply dont made.)

I had high expectations for this manga since I watched the anime as a child, and enjoyed it. I really liked Yoh's character: easy going, strong but not cocky. You come across many characters through the story and for me, it was somewhat difficult to keep track of all of them? That being said, I liked many of their personalities; Anna and Ryu especially (but I did not like Hao's [the antagonist] character that much). The mangaka is very thorough as the historical context and random tidbits of culture were researched (which I find very respectable).
The initial story was engaging but as it progressed, I got more and more bored. Of course it was still funny and nice throughout but rolling downhill. I felt that it was rushed at parts but too slow at others. To be honest, the ending was somewhat confusing for me (granted, I did skim much of the last few chapters)
Definitely read Shaman King Kanzenban to get a more complete ending. The original was very abrupt and left me frustrated actually.
The ending message was nice but for me not satisfying. It is a good read; just not spectacular.

However I did enjoy the zoom into the future which reveals Anna and Yoh's son among other things.

Remember this. If you ever want a way to say "I'm done, forget my fans", put the main villain in a princess dress on the last page of a cliffhanger ending. They'll love it.

When this manga finally got into its plot it seemed to have the potential to be a great manga. There were some good characters like Bokutou no Ryu and Hao whose mystery was always enticing. However, the further it got dragged out the more ends were left untied and the new ending was rushed and lax. Shaman King is a manga that talked but never delivered.
