I have followed this story since many years and it never have dissapointed me.
The plot is great, also the characters and of course, the wonderful and unique drawing style of Kure-sensei.
Is interesting to follow a story that turns better and better any time and is very different from the popular concept of Reverse Harem that people use to have. In this story the love triangle is more than clear and it is not a story with the typical airheaded heorine who falls for every male around her, she have a clear crush for just one of the guys. In my opinion, the heroine is fantastic, since she is not stupid and don't do things like another shoujo manga's heroines would do and it is very refreshing, since anyone can like her wuthout say in any moment of the story "I would have do another thing istead what she done", because in emotional matters, Kahoko is very smart and is very great to see her in action.
The story is not childish, quite the contrary, it is serious and fun at the same time.
Is so great to see the develop of situations between Len and Ryotaro, since they hate and sympathize to each other at the same time. They're two smart and great guys who will fight to the end for Kahoko's love. I think is great to see cool guys just like they have emerging from a Yaoi manga fighting just like to death.
This is a manga for someone who is looking for a serious story that includes musical culture, romance, comedy, a heroine with a high emotional intelligence and, of course, surrounding guys to entertain our eyes.
This is my favorite shoujo manga and one of the few ones that I like a lot, since most of shoujo manga tends to makes me sick in a certain point because the heorines become idiots or the plot get bored. Kiniro no Corda is different from all them and I will always love it.

ok i rated this a 10 at first now down to 6 after finishing it, very disappointed with the ending
i watched the anime first then read the manga, was expecting more romance then i got... plus 1 girl and about 4 guys falling for her, that i just super hate about manga or manhwa or whatever it is. 2 guys is understandable but 4 not so great.... plus the romance didn't happen so much as i wanted for which i picked this manga up
wish it wasn't so long dragging if the romance was crappy and making me feel depressed plus it was going round and round with the characters not being able to choose music or something else and only fighting with the choices so very annoying they would make up there minds then give up really was boring i had to skip some pages as i got board i didn't like some of the extra / stories 1-2 were ok but most were just boring
[spoiler]Kahako never confessed until the end only hugged so did Ren all the way to the last volume chapter and last page ending the story no side story to show later a bit romantic moments with these two!
the others Ryoutaro confessed but was rejected, HIhara never even confessed with the ending not sure if he gave up so its too bad im not sure if this long dragging manga was even worth reading it, and KajI poor guy love at first sight yet also never confessed another thing annoying though in a way these 2 would have added more problem for Hino
at first i wanted Hino to be with HIhara but then i started to feel she would end up being with Len/Ren not sure why but i wish the romance had hit up high maybe there feelings would have made them perform better music after all they say when in love people can create great music or something of that[/spolier]

The beginning areas of the manga, specifically the first concour, had a lot of potential. It focused on music, the feelings, but mostly the love for music. After that, the manga slowly degraded to stupid, irritating, and needless drama and cliches. I was hoping to see the growth of Hino with her violin. All I saw was very little character development overall, needless introduction to new character(s) who were soon left in the shadows and forgotten, and a ton of cliche scenes. The ending felt... rushed and uninspired. I think the beginning was great, but after that... I wish I never read this after seeing what it degenerated into. What a waste.

The manga is really good. It first starts off slow, introducing the characters systematically and then later in the series, it gets better and better as the female lead meets up with guys that eventually falls in love with her. It's cute seeing how that happens, as it's more in pace with real-life, rather than other shoujo mangas which have the guys falling for the girls almost immediately (too fast).
Another bonus for this manga is the classical music -centered plot. The female lead doesn't know any real music for the first start, so she kind of relates with most (or some) or the female readers here, giving them space to fantasize, etc.
It's really good, reading this manga as the artwork is clean and there aren't too many speeches. Mostly the plot centres on the female lead's dilemma to do well in music, facing a few obstacles on the way.
Personally, the anime does the manga no justice. So if it's possible, read the manga before watching the anime. Or.. if you've read the manga, then don't watch the anime. However, if you're not planning to read the manga, I guess it's not too bad to try and watch the anime. But let me warn you, it would not be as smashing as the manga!

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I've been eyeing this series for a long time now but it's actually just now that I'd finally decided to give it a try..
It was a nice read though it's lacking on some aspects.. I'm somehow disappointed that Hino didn't improve much at all since when the magic violin disappeared.. I'm always anticipating her performances after that because I'm expecting her to at least wow the audience even just for once especially at the mini concour...the hard work was there and it's always been emphasized how she loves music and violin so much... even in her very last performance with Ousaki, Kaji and Shimizu I still hoped that she'll surprise us but nah she still made a mistake and still very stiff..still the same I know there's no perfect performance at all but can't she play naturally?
Though I can say if you compare her to other shoujo heroines...she's very strong especially in emotional aspect..she's someone who doesn't cry easily.. Like in chapter where Len told her how disappointed he was.. while going through the pages I was already expecting her to cry but she didn't.. and I'm really glad she didn't at least even just at that time she wowed me.
and in romance aspect it's complicated lol.. there are too many characters who showed up out of nowhere and before you knew it they're already gone.. It's way too random.. It's been showed how much Kazuki actually likes her but he didn't had the chance to confess.. I mean seriously what's the point? and there is also this Aoi Kaji who had a crush on her...he likes her too but didn't confess as well.. and with Kiriya Etou..I don't get it why did he even showed up?
I would even prefer Kazuki and Ryoutaro more than Len to be with Hino.. Len's feelings for Hino wasn't that clear until the last recent chapters... Yeah sometimes he's blushing and so on while with Hino in some chapters but for me that really wasn't enough to tell that he likes her just by that.. you can't feel anything.. though he did admit that if his feelings were to conveyed in words it's "love" but still at the very end he didn't confess properly (still stubborn as ever) though I guess it's fine because it's soo just like him..but why is Hino stubborn too lol..or was she just being naive? T.T I've never seen her admit her feelings towards him..I know it's already so obvious that she likes him but is it that hard to say "I like you" or "I like Len" or maybe because I wasn't paying attention that I missed that part...whatever I guess the main reason I feel like this is because the development between Hino and Len wasn't enough..I feel like their relationship could have been better... that their encounters should have been more...but oh well regardless of everything that hug at the end was very sweet!
I think because there are too many characters involved the author somehow had a hard time balancing them all out..
overall this is still worth a read...I guess the message that the author was trying to convey was that it's not really important whether you're good or not when it comes to music as long as you love and enjoy it that's more than enough..

For one, i love the guys. Actually maybe just Hihara. But whatever.
Lately, there seems to be more "development" taking place.
But then again, they've gotten even more characters in. I know it's because of the otome game, but still, this is getting to be quite a chore. You can obviously see who she's into now, so the new guys are merely serving as eye candy and to make you go: _____ is so hot/cute/drool-worthy !!!!
I'm one of those who have only a bit of a qualm for the slow pace this is going, but really, the massive number of guys have led to most (if not all) of them being flat characters.
Still, despite the magic violin thing, the people are relatively real. Hino is a main character i enjoy reading about. She's not too rash, not too shy, just trying to do her best and getting stuck or confused as she goes about doing so. Also, Hihara's silent admiration for her was beautifully portrayed. I think this touch of realism is what keeps me hooked onto the series.
Quite a relaxed and light read, no pain (unlike Ouran where you go all wretched after looking at that beautiful window scene when Kaoru looks at Haruhi), no dark traumatised past, plenty of eye candy and good art, read for fluff.
I'm giving this a 7 because it's what it sells itself as. A light fluffy read for females that is not too over the top. A decent (initially, when existing) plot with good art.

I love this manga if for nothing more than it focuses on classical music, most of it western. I used to play the viola (basically a deeper version of the violin) and it is nearly impossible to find books set in the modern world that have the hero/ine playing Beethoven instead of Pink, Queen, or Korn. I also like the plot, and that most of the characters are deeper than they appear. It's an easy read, and addictive (I'm going crazy because I went to four different stores and none of them had volume 5 in English. Gah, it's frustrating!!!). Anyone can read it. I recommend it highly.

As someone who has only somewhat recently joined band despite being a sophomore in high school, I found this series very inspiring and encouraging (Particularly after the 3rd selection). When Kahoko works hard, it makes me want to work even harder to achieve my dream of getting good enough to become a music education major. And when I reach a slump in my practicing, reading a couple chapters of this series pulls me through. So I sincerely thank Kure Yuki for creating this series

I must say I have a soft spot for reverse harem and La Corda D'Oro is one of the best. I like that the girl dosn't fall over herself for one guy. Alot of people winge about the amount of guys (and there are ALOT) but you have to remember that this is based on a game that amounts to a dating sim. It is supposed to be like that.
I don't think Hino is spineless. I think she shows alot of bravery and courage. It's just she tends to be more... normal I suppose. She isn't in your face tough or bubbly, she actually reminds me of a normal human, quite and shy sometimes, dislikes confrontation, laughs with her friends and has akward embarressing moments. She just is alot quiter in tone then other heroines, and it's not a bad thing.
And finally, alot of people worry about the magical violin thing, and truthfull I thought it was a bit weird too, though nothing to stop you reading it. Remember it is based on a game. And how else would you get a total ametur into music like that. Like any manga, sometimes you just have to let go of your rationality and get on with it.

Typical Shoujo Stupidity

I like Shoujo mangas. I'll admit it. I normally am fine with all the silliness that you find in the typical shoujo story. I watched the anime when it came out, and thought, why not give the manga a try. As I started to read it, I found myself thinking, this girl is just brainless fluff. Chapter 4, was particularly pathetic, as the girl is 'challenged' with her music, and rather then responding as most girls would, instead acts idiotic, and ends up having to be saved by one of the guys. I mean come on, if a bunch of girls challenge you, and say moronic stuff like, we'll never acknowledge you, say, "well, I have no desire to be recognized by you, as for whether or not I belong in the concourse, why not wait til the performance before making a decision."
Hino shows over and over, that rather then being a strong heroine, with opinions and desires of her own, she is merely a typical brainless heroine, who constantly needs to be saved. Grow a spine girl! After reading a good portion of this manga, I find myself thinking something unusual. That the anime is better then the manga.
