Wow. I like romance and I love sexual tension, and jesus does this manga have both. Yeah, yeah, it's cliched and unrealistic and some of the shots of them kissing make me wonder if that's even comfortable.
But the potential of this manga is overwhelming. The drawing is great (and Hokuto is so hot he burns into my retinas). It's not artistic, but then again, that isn't the point.
So far there have been a few overused plot devices, the marriage being one of them. But what saves this from becoming a wet dishy sop is Enjouji-sensei's excellent characters. While both Hokuto and Chiwa are stereotypical to a slight extent, they both seem alive and a little unpredictable, in a good way. Hokuto, for example, doesn't really seem to care for Chiwa, but as time passes his feelings appear (?!) to change. And while Chiwa admirably doesn't fall head over heels for such a lovely specimen of manliness (god, there was one picture of his back recently that made me want to squeal out loud), we see her struggle to preserve her integrity and her heart fighting against (what seems like to me xD) the inevitable. Of course she's supposed to be a stand-in for the reader but that doesn't stop her from being likable.
To put it simply, it's fun. You want to see them get together, and while enough happens in each chapter to make you hot and bothered and a little satisfied, at the same time Enjouji-sensei is prudently pacing their relationship. Not to mention that there's great humor!
I can't say that it's a "classic" manga full of soul-searching conclusions about the human condition, because it isn't. But if you like a little smut and romance you will adore this. So far it's been awesome, and each chapter leaves me desperately wanting more. This kind of story has the danger of getting dull later on (with the manga-ka increasingly reaching out for something to keep it interesting), but I'm hoping that it will continue for at least a few more volumes.
Edit: Wow. Talk about drama. It hasn't gotten cheesy, yet, but my interest after chapter 6 has spiked. The compelling idea is that you think there might be a happy ending, but it seems almost impossible... The only thing is that I can do is cheer for Chiwa... Go, Chiwa! You can make it, no matter what happens! +_+

It's hard to describe what i think of this manga, but i like it overall. If you a fan of Josei with a shoujo feeling, this is perfect. It has the right amount of drama, that didn't make me want to bang my head against the wall. There are times though that i wanted to smack one or both main characters, but that was just because i wanted misunderstandings fixed right away.
Warning: This is not a manga to read chapter per chapter. I suggest waiting until it's fully completed or reading it by volume. Not only will it keep the story line fresh in your mind, but i feel it's easier to understand characters motivation.

I love Enjouji Maki's work. The mixture of the comedy, romance and smut make the sweet result of a really worth-reading manga. Thanks for Enjouji Maki sensei's work that we could have a great time reading great masterpiece. ^^

i love this manga. I've watched series of dramas and mangas about pretend marriage but this manga is my most favorite. the plot is, well, two-thumbs up! the art is very good also. you tend to compare Hokuto to other characters of the story and will realize that he is good-looking. Chiwa looks plain at first, but you'll turn to love her and find her cute throughout the series.
It's hilarious and worth reading. I recommend to those people who wants to giggle about love and humor.

Whirlwind romance, it is. A lot of smut and romance, not much plot... Basically an idealized world for a hopeless romantic, weak-willed female who just want to meet the perfect guy, fall in love, have a lot of you-know-what and still feel insecure of the entire relationship.
I would actually think this how some shoujo manga was set out to be.. simple, no-nonsense, just romance and heartbreak so I wouldn't judge this story too harshly.
Still a good read if you like those stuff. Otherwise, avoid!

I've been a stalker of Enjouji Maki eversince I've read her manga "Fu Junai". I must say that although her usual smuts and illustrations (which never fail to keep me captivated!) are consistent, Hapi Mari is a fresh slot in the array of her works. The romance is slow and the plot develops at an even level. But the recipe is just right to make the story between Hokuto and Chiwa perfectly cooked. I am reviewing this manga while I am at chapter 23. This are my feelings. A fresh manga (experimental, it seems) is succesfully done. Good job!

I've read all of Enjouji Maki's work and this manga is my second best amongst her masterpiece, first is Private Prince. Her style of drawing is what im looking for in a manga and also the plot. Perfect.
This manga gives off the feeling of "wanting more". It really does have a great character development, to chiwa from her husband. It's attractive (: Im still waiting for the next chapter releases. I highly recommend this manga.

Ah the beauty of conjugal love!
(should I really be saying that?)
hehe, really, it's indeed a lovable manga about a married (sort-of) couple, no?
Anyway, as someone who usually dislikes smut this is actually really well written and characterized. It is hot but also unexpectedly heartwarming at times (and has good humor!).
