because this is definitely not what i expected when i saw "porn star x salaryman". it is much better, and left me with a smile on my face. kira is totally not what i imagine a porn star to be like, *grin*; i want him as my friend. the story is basically a simple love story, and it's really nice to now and then read something where there's not big, angsty drama and all sorts of nasty obstacles. and while there is a blushing, crying uke who's much too feminine for my taste, he is not the annoying type who denies his feelings and protests any sexual contact; nope, he actually figures out what he is feeling and admits to it, and then enjoys himself once they get to the sex. which is graphic, btw. the two are really sweet together, and kira is even entertaining during sex.

the art is interesting; ootsuki definitely has her own style. i loved looking at kira; whose design is very expressive.

the scanlation is indeed superior to the commercial translation (you should buy the manga if you like it anyway; heck, buy the japanese version because it's prettier -- but do read the scanlation.)

I just got the paperback edition of this book today, and the translation isn't as good as the rather brilliant, witty and thoughtful online version. I think the care that the volunteer translators put in online often outshines the the paperback publishers, and I searched for the name of the translator of this manga, but Iridescent seems to be no more. But I'd like to tell them how superior their version was. They had a master translator, who was a great writer and cared about the material. It makes me realize how important the translation part of manga is! GOOD JOB, IRIDESCENT!, wherever you are...

I didn't expect much from a plot with pornstar x salaryman - but this story was unexpectedly sweet. Not super-deep or philosophical in any way, but it was well put together, had nice art and reasonable conflicts.

I had a good feeling about it, and was left happy and uplifted. A breath of ... weird ... fresh air.

It gets a 9 from me, even though it may not be perfect. It has its own unique charm.

I'm a bit unsatisfied here.
Truth is it wasn't too bad (i especially loved how seme-kun restrained himself from raping uke-kun and how much he was struggling with his feelings) but all in all it was too shallow. I didn't feel attached to any of the characters and tbh I don't understand how nor why they fell in love. The chemistry didn't work for me.
I don't know if the author wanted it to be fluffy or sexy, but it was neither...
Moreover the drawings weren't really to my liking. I prefer manlier guys.
Sooooo yeah. Unsatisfaying

(Oh! And I don't understand how you can allow your lover to be an AV actor. Maybe I'm the 'too possessive' kind but it just doesn't work for me. I would feel constantly betrayed. The sex you share with your special someone must be only YOUR privilege. I would never want to share the faces and touches only I know about...)

I personally don't like the art much (I know a lot of people love it but for some reason I just don't. It's definitely not the worst though) but I really enjoyed the plot! I wasn't too sure if I'd like this one 'cause I usually prefer the main couple to only sleep with each other (yes i'm kinda old fashioned that way), so with an AV actor as the seme I was a bit concerned. But i'm SO glad I read it XD
Kira is so cute and upfront about his feelings, and the way they address his career in the AV industry is done really well. My favourite character has got to be Natsumi (the girl) she's hilarious and it's nice to have a female character who isn't a love rival or whatever. I know in BL the guys should be the main focus but she was the highlight for me ^__^ haha.
This was definitely much more light-hearted than any of Ootsuki-sensei's other works, and although i'm not a fan of her art style, the sex scenes are still good and the story itself was great.
So don't let the description put you off, just read it and you won't be disappointed

Now that is what i call a pleasant surprise. I thought it would be more fluff, but it was actually REALLY good! They matched so well, and there was no "yaoi rape" or misunderstandings, just the right amount of slice of life?

THIS IS PROBABLY THE CUTEST MANGA THAT WAS WRITTEN BY OOTSUKI-SENSEI!!! Tho I like Sensei's stories, this is so pure despite the fact that the main char is an AV actor!!! I love the irony!!! The AV guy was soooo cute and probably the most pure seme I've encountered that's written by Ootsuki-sensei!!! I love her art, (some) plots, etc!!! She's currently one of my top yaoi-mangakas I definitely recommend!!! Specifically, this manga is brilliant!!!

p.s. IF U LOVE MANGAS THAT DOESN'T HAVE STUPID ANNOYING HURDLES AND DOESN'T HAVE ANNOYING BTCHY CHARACTER, THEN THIS MANGA IS FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!

I love this plot when I was reading the description i thought it would be a PWP manga but it's not. Its super cute and sweet and hot. I mean You're all like awww then like that's what goes on when your bf/lover is a porn star right haha. But it was really sweet. since the first time I read it I've read it about four other times. The story line is never old and super nice. I recommend it

First, WHY are the covers of this author's stories usually so hot? It's not fair, but it's lovely.

Second, how can this author do such BEAUTIFUL art? The emotions leap off the page! And sometimes it's just so great that I'm almost in disbelief. Like page 34, chapter 3, after Kira is let in on his crush's feelings. The art absolutely rocks. Normally I don't like really feminine drawings, but this is just too cool.

Also, I love the characters. Kira is kind of crazy, but it works on him, and he's such a sweet guy. I love how he is with Kazuaki (the main guy) - we need more semes like him!
And I even like the porn lady!
And Kazuaki is kind of adorable. He's unsure of himself, but he tries really hard to be a good guy, especially to Kira. I love that.

I have to say, im not a fan of the art style, overly thick long eyelashes and girly features are not something i appreciate in yaoi BUT i cant help but read this mangaka's works because the stories are almost always excellent - and, despite some of my art preferences i cant help but admit that some of the scenes are extremely well drawn. Anyway, this story is great. Its humorous and cute and very romantic, theres no angst, no huge drama moments, no betrayal of trust or forceful love - none of the usual crap you find in many yaoi, instead it takes on a more realistic tone and the characters give life to the story. Its a wonderful read, id recommend it.
