Completely hilarious and heart-warming to boot. The characters are unique and lovable, from the first to the last of them, and the humor is always enjoyable and oftentimes unexpected when, as it's been pointed out, it deconstructs what you've come to expect from a romantic comedy.
This series needs to be read by anyone who wants to laugh; yet I have a feeling that this is one of those series that stay with you for a long time after you finished them, and might put a smile in your face just by remembering them. I know I'll remember Negishi and Hoshino warmly, and will come back to them again, one day.

Sweet and simple

Compared to most shoujo manga, this story is really strange in that there's no bullying, neither of the main characters are super popular or particularly good looking (although they certainly are very cute!) and well, basically nothing super dramatic happens. I wouldn't think this is seinen if I didn't see it tagged as such, but it is such a sweet story I recommend it to everyone, male, female, old or young.
This is really a high school romance story. You can really feel the growth of the characters, and it's very realistic in its portrayal of relationships. In this story you get all kinds, unrequited love, mutual love, respect, and so much more. This is one of those stories that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Although the art may seem strange to you at first, it really grows on you (at least it did to me), and the simple style is fitting of the sweetness of the story.
I'm finding it kind of difficult to put my feelings into words but, to put it simply, you should read it!

It was pretty good, the art is very plain and it felt like a regular person drew it, which helped me connect to the story better. With the art being all right at best, the story was tons better, great funny, love, and weird moments. It is great growing up story, and it will be one of my favorites.

Laidback and Enjoyable

Love Roma was a really refreshing story in a lot of ways. Hoshino is a pretty interesting protagonist in that he's blunt and honest with how he feels, and he isn't enormously indecisive like most manga characters. Negishi is a little less interesting overall but she does play off Hoshino well, and the dynamic between the two is what drives this for the most part.

Things do unfortunately tend to get a bit stale on the long term I find. Like many other series here they have one major joke that they sort of drive into the ground after a while, namely the fact that Hoshino is super blunt and honest and Negishi gets easily embarrassed/angry in response. That's fine for the most part because it's still entertaining I find but sometimes it did feel overused. Another small problem is that while the comedy is pretty good overall, the series doesn't have enough serious moments. I didn't want a lot more serious scenes per se, but near the end of the story there's one or two serious chapters that are some of the best written in the series. A couple more serious chapters scattered throughout would have really helped the pacing I think.

A lot of people complained about the art style, and to be honest I really didn't hate it. As long as characters are expressive and I can tell people apart I really don't mind for the most part how it looks. There's always gonna be an exception I guess but nevertheless I found the art style here fine enough, in fact there were times I thought it looked really good and stylized. This is always gonna be a subjective issue of course but know that the art is fine.

I just liked this ultimately because it's about two kids developing a relationship while not being too overly sappy. There's no "perfect school prince/ess" characters in this story, everyone's a little more down to earth for the most part with both good and bad parts. I recommend reading this if you want a lighthearted romance series that also avoids a lot of general shoujo cliches.

This manga was so adorable and sweet. At first it seems very simple, but as the story progresses their relationship develops and you begin to see their cute little relationship quirks. You can't help but be happy for them while simultaneously relating to some of their first love experiences. I appreciate that there was very little drama filling the pages. The little drama there was seemed to fit the story and the situations very well.

I'm rarely put off by art styles, so this manga didn't bother me one bit. If anything I like that it was different than the norm, and it didn't take anything away from the story line. For those of you who decide not to read this just because of the art, then it's your loss.

Cute, sweet, funny, and even philosophical at some points, this is the romance manga everyone should read. The art is definitely unique but that doesn't make it bad. In fact, by the time you get into it the art is the ONLY way you could see them being drawn. Besides, it's not the art that makes it great, it's the characters. Five volumes was only too short for me.

So Sweet

The story is wonderful. Simple and lovely. The love relationship is so innocent and sweet that it really feels like high school love relationships. It isn't like a typical shoujo manga would be but it is a different pace at the relationship.

I will admit that the art style is somewhat crude and weird that it did made it difficult to read in the first place. But after a while, you get use to it.

It is a must-read romance, if not, a different pace in romance would be suggested.

This manga is just, well the only word is heartwarming. There arent any sudden cliffhangers or massive climaxes like you find in other romance mangas, and to be honest very little happens, although this works in its favour. It just gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside, while also making you laugh. It doesnt get repetitive, and you get used to the unusual (but fitting) art.

By the time you reach the end, you really feel like you've gotten to know the people in the story, they always behave in character, and well, I honestly havent read anything like this before.

I highly reccommend this to anyone and everyone, dont be put off by the art, it really suits this manga and you'll have accepted it before you finish the first chapter. I promise you wont regret reading this.

I first read the description, I thought, this is ridiculous and I probably wouldn't like it, but to my surprise, I was wrong... dead wrong. I actually this as one of my top favorites, with interesting art, a pretty out there concept, and good character development. However, the thing that really gets me is the message. I didn't get it at first, but as read along, I received a message that went along the lines of "give love a chance". I really believe that everyone should learn this because in today's society, we should learn to give love a chance and maybe everyone will be a little bit happier.

If you can get by the artwork, there's a lot of good to be found here

I'm just going to say it up front - I really hated the artwork in this one. I don't know if it's the author's particular style, or if they chose to do it this way on purpose, but in either case it's really not very good. In fact, when I first started reading this I questioned whether I would be able to get through it simply because of my distaste of the artwork. And, unlike other art styles that start off terrible, but improve as the manga goes on (think of the the difference between the first chapters of Ah! My Goddess as compared to the more recent ones, for example), this one stays consistently bad throughout the course of the story.

But you know, with all that said, by the time I was halfway through the first volume I really didn't even notice anymore. It's just a great, great story with interesting characters and a fantastic "hook" that sets it apart from the majority of other romantic comedies I've read. True, there are other stories where the main character is honest to a fault, gullible, etc., but they're usually done in a "fish out of water" type scenario, where the person has been living outside of normal society for whatever reason. This is the first manga I've read that doesn't use that approach, and it works remarkably well.

So, an interesting story, great humor, lovable characters, and a genuinely touching romance override whatever faults there may be with the artwork. If you're a fan of the genre, give it a shot - I don't think you'll be disappointed.
