Yeah... the art is really the only good thing

The first story had some potential, could have been a really interesting story about two screwed up people
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(I mean, not sure what is wrong with the butler but the other kid was definitely just using him to escape from reality and probably convincing even himself that he wanted to be with the butler because that made his situation easier... but... in the end we didn't get to see what he was thinking. It could be that his detachment is a sign of his mental illness or it could just be bad character development. Who knows.)
but it was just bland... nothing. With no real conclusion.

The other story about students was clearly the better one. But.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I really hate rape being glossed over as nothing. Yeah, maybe Aki was in denial about his feelings, but "Stop." means just that. In the end his roomate never apologised.

So yeah... once again I was lured in by pretty art and let down by shoddy plot. And damn, because of the art I don't have the heart to go lover than 3 in my rating >.<

I'm a great sucker for stories by Ogawa Chise. Her stories are dark and not very conventional, but that's what so awesome about them. She handles twisted in a very blatant yet simultaneously subtle way.

The main couple in the first story should not be held to normal standards. The uke is a traumatized individual who craves for companionship from someone who will love him unconditionally and the seme adores the uke so much that his whole life, his sole purpose, was to make the uke's wish come true. Any reader could call this first story trash without understanding the undertone of the manga. Ogawa created a highly imperfect setting with scarred characters who dealt with their issues in an extreme way, and she does it all perfectly with her subtlety.

The second story I believe exists in a setting that an average person may be more familiar with since unlike the first story there are no dark undertone, at least not more than the usual beyond the fluffy yaoi, and so the actions of the seme may be seem more extreme. He is an a$$hole, and yet because he's an-a$$hole-in-love he shoves the uke in his way, instead of being the sweet, understanding yaoi bf. Doesn't mean what he did was the right way to push the uke to accept his sexuality. The uke dealing with being gay was yet again Ogawa dealing with another issue in a subtle way.

Anyhow, I think these two stories were great. I loved the second story more just because I have a preference for school-life stories over master-servant stories, but this is something not to miss for yaoi readers who are tired of the usual fluffy stories.

The Side Story is one of the best oneshots ever read

The main story is just an okay for me. But I find its side story named "Dannetsu Senjou no Ouji" (2 chaps shorta) very interesting. The plor is better than the main story.
I highly recommend the Side Story. =]

The first story seems...freaky. But not as much as the side story. I hated the side story mainly because the seme just got to flirt with other girls in front of the uke. Distracting themselves from the one they love or finding a "replacement" is stupid as hell. If I wanna be honest, I'll prefer the first story instead of the second one. I just find it disgusting when Chitose flirts with the other girls in front of Shuu just because Shuu can't accept him. It's a lowlife method to attract or get the other person's attention. If I'm Shuu, I wouldn't even want to date such person and ask for a room change immediately! The fact that Chitose chose such method to get Shuu's love, proves that he's a complete lowlife. Imagine the person you love do this to you in front of you. Makes you mad isn't it?

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Like many have already said, the first story is about screwed up people being screwed up. These characters should have a way deeper background. Not only the buttler seems to have no reason whatsoever to be the way he is (I can only assume his seriously have some sort of psychological condition), his master had a lot more than Stockholm Syndrome going on. It's well stablished that he had grown up alone and gone throught a lot. He was unstable even before he was kidnapped. I find it really hard to read the ending since the author sets a 'happy ending' tone and at no point indicates that the buttler is taking advantage of his master's situation in so many different ways.

About the second story, it seems no one is saying anything about the rape. Yeah, we come to know that they both loved each other, but that doesn't change the fact that Chitose raped Shuu.

And once again I don't give a lower rating to a manga because of the artwork.. dawn you manga with beatiful artwork and plots I disagree!!!

Creepy but good

The main story is creepy as hell, yet pathetic Iwase's plight drew me in. He was nuts but his disillusionment was portrayed pretty well. As the story progressed, Yuzuru's desperateness became apparent as well (with a bit of Stockholm Syndrome mixed in). Yuzuru's character was so sweetly unwound by Ogawa Chise. Sometimes with just a single simple, wordless panel Ogawa was able to convey what Yuzuru was going through very clearly. A very different feel from the comedic works I've read by the mangaka. I didn't read this as a romance either, though (the mental instability of the characters didn't allow me to).

Con: The biggest downside to this manga was that the anatomy got kinda wonky at times.

This main story left me with a similar feeling as the second half of a Harry/Draco fanfic I read once: "Hearts Open (at the Close)" by literaryspell. I recommend that fanfiction to anyone who was interested in the creepy aspect of this manga. You don't have to be part of the Harry Potter fandom to enjoy that fic either.

Yes, this is a very strange manga but that is why I enjoyed it , very out of the ordinary. I enjoyed both stories and yes they are very very very dark!

By the way, I love Chise! I like anything she draws, her sex scenes are very steamy.

Both stories are weird.

I am not saying they are bad, just that they are strange. The first story deals with mental issues, both characters have gone trough some sort of trauma and in a way being together has somehow helped them both. The butler definitely has some problems, he's stuck in the past and has an obsessive behavior and Yuzuru has been trough some very difficult experiences, being abandoned by his parents and abused by others. The final chapter of this story finally shows some normalcy in their behavior, could be Stockholm syndrome on Yuzuru's part or the fact that he is lonely and found in Iwase the safety he needed.

The last story is a bit eww. Chitose likes Shuu, but Shuu has problems accepting his feelings and tells Chitose to stay away from him, so Chitose has sex with girls in the same room while Shuu covers his ears with headphones and listens to music to drown the noises -__- What the f*** is wrong with Chitose, such a disgusting creep and Shuu is an idiot just allowing that behavior I would have thrown out that moron out along with all those s**** girls. Nice way to show your love -_-

To be honest, I expected Iwase to be more insane, and this could've turned to be a psychological smut tragedy (I just like that kind of genre ok?) but this is also good. It has both dark and sweet side in it. A (kinda) twisted but gentle love plus a happy ending that can melt your heart, I think this is a lovely story (at least for someone that enjoy painful love like me Xd).

Oh and I LOOOVE the side story. Yes it's a bit typical, but still adorable~ I like the idea of a crossing line. Loud music and burning gazes. Totally my type.
I'll give the main story 8 and the side story 9.5

STOP!

Before anyone else starts off reading this manga and expect some lovey dovey thing to go on between the butler and young master, then let me get this straight. It's not happening.
What I do see is a sick butler (mentally) taking advantage of his charge. He lusts for the younger boy who seems so vulnerable in front of him to the point of chaining him up for months and that is scary. I'm not going to dwell on it so much because there is no point. Either you like the first story or you don't. And I hate it. I really don't see two people loving each other but instead what I see is a sick obsession over a victim, which the victim had somehow made himself believe that he do love the butler in order to cope living with him, chained up.
The second story meanwhile is good that it'll blow your mind away by the intensity of it in comparison with the first one. Both characters are well drawn and are attracted to each other so much so that they did not know how to channel their feelings. There's a bittersweet feeling to it, where you would just cheer for them, for their happy ending.
1/5 for the first story, 5/5 for the second one
