Taken from the Holy Scriptures of the Old Church of Selakiel: "When the Earth begins to perish, the Messiah will descend from the Heaven on wings of light. Clad in darkness, he will be so little yet he will be so immense surely he shall bring salvation to everyone."
"The four saints shall appear to offer him their assistance. One will give the Messiah courage, one will give the Messiah light, one will give him wings, and one will shield him from his enemies."
Note: Chapters are numbered differently starting on volume 7, since it's a beginning of a new arc

Hahaha, I can't explain this one, but with one word I think I could. Compassion . Give it a try I'm sure you won't regret it. If you do, well it must not be your type ^_^'. Although, as stated before, the art lacks quality at first but as you move further into the story it honestly becomes quite a masterpiece.
I read up til they spared Lilu, the priestess of ruin, who had murdered villages and children. Boohoo. Yeah, must save her. She was Harunas friend. What a bunch of crap. Sorry, but the whole lack of justice for this murderous bitch all because she manages to show a tiny scrap of humanity... You know its coming of course, but even still, I just couldn't take any more. Theres only so much moronic crap you can take before you have to set it aside.
This wasn't like anything I have ever read. I laughed. I cried. I was so emotionally enticed for some reason. From beginning, to middle, to end I was glued to this series. Although it may be cheesy, I guess I could say I have a new viewpoint on friendship; it's a great thing to have.
not to long or to short, have a lot of plot twist(make reading the next chapter more fun, for me especially). recommended for anyone who like some twisted plot.
it's deep, real deep. i though it was something light and easy like MAR when i first looked at it, but wow. one of my favorites. ending felt a bit short, i wanted to see a bit more afterwards, but overall very satisfying.
ok...... when i just started this manga, ive read 3 volumes but then the art just.... too blank... i want more background and other coloring... not like all white and stuff.... thus i stopped readin.... and then went on to read something else... that was already half year ago...
ok.... so yesterday i got bored and started rereadin from the start and download volume 8-13 that i havnt download back then.. this time i finish the whole thing.... and found 3 main flaws that i dont like.... which each is minue .5 point for me...
first of all.... the story just rushed to end the first half.... totally wtf with volume 6... its rushed the whole way to end it....
second.... the starting of the second half lacrima, the art is god damn ugly!!! totally changed the whole thing and the time skip.... u dont know a thing about what happened (tho the art did get better over time... but man i dont even know that dude is shinya.... totally different lookin at the beginning)
Spoiler (highlight to view)
third..... the ending...... i wont say its the best.... but what about lilu?!.... she just died like that?..... how can that happen?!!!... and lilu was my favorite character.... how can she just die?!!!.... and everyone else all happy?!....
ok... now lets talk about what i like..... the best part of the series is when aina turn back into the book.... thats pretty sad.... and then shinya go berserk.... thats awesome...
ps... why is it all the time friend vs friend?... hmm.... i mean.... tons of manga or anime or w.e is one friend good dude other friend bad dude kill each other... umm wtf?...
This manga is amazing, however there are a few faults. First off, the art doesn't really become "top notch" until about 35 or 40 chapters in. Second off, things are rushed with no pauses in between time-skips. Third off there are parts of the storyline that don't get as much attention as they should. Probably the rushing and blatant time-skips bring this down from a 10 to a 9, while the frightening early art brings it from a 9 to an 8.
Other than that, it's a really nice story, and the ending is beautiful. As for the art though, trust me, gets way better than what you see at chapter one ^^ the huge-eyed-people actually become bearable to look at.
Undeniably a real fantasy story..
The beginning is nice, and the last part of "Lacrima" too. In my opinion, the worst part is around the middle, when everything starts to be messed up. At this point, too many things happen in the same time, making the whole story confusing~ That's a pity, since the overall story is quite great, with lot of fights, action, etc..
Also, as said on the other posts, some parts are quite awkward, the story gets serious, and suddenly, it becomes happy-ish and light (almost comedy-like). It ruins the whole serious mood, really -_-" same goes to the ecchi aspects, which don't fit the mood of the manga at all. The plot stands on the overall story, though some questions still remain unanswered.
But in the end, it's still a really great fantasy story, with attaching characters and incontestably beautiful art..

i read this over a period of two days only taking time to take little cat naps in between the story... it was truely beautiful... i highly recommend for the fealings it invoked in me... READ IT!
But pretty good nonetheless. This was a good read, but it all felt kind of loose. The story is interesting, but the way it's told makes it seem sort of shallow.
As someone else said, the story moves very fast and not really in a good way. At times, it almost feels like a summary of a fuller story that we were never actually told. There's the one year time skip which is weird when it happens, but beyond that there are many smaller skips in it as well.
Say, an event transpires, then in the next page or panel, boom, everyone is somewhere else entirely and it's days or weeks later. Often they'll set off on a long journey they say, but it just cuts straight to the destination. Things also happen without us seeing and then someone appears and we're quickly told, or left to assume, that these things happened.
This certainly pushes the story along quickly, but it also removes any sort of adventurous feeling and it keeps you from being drawn into the story as much.
The blending of comedy and drama is a bit awkward too. At times it feels like it wants to be a serious tragedy kind of tale, but then at times the comedy takes over entirely. Comic relief is one thing, but there are times when major plot points are carried out in silly, slapstick fashion and then it shifts abruptly back into serious mode forcing you to accept the silliness you just saw as being serious. It just seems a little strange to me sometimes.
Complaints aside, I still had fun with the series. I liked the overall story and the characters, I just wish they had slowed down a bit to tell us more about it and them.
