The manga was at first fresh and amusing. However as time went on, and more volumes were read, what was at first amusing and fun, became dumb and stupid. The challenges became predictable and boring. Honestly, this story would have been great had it been kept between 6 and 8 volumes. After that, it just stops being fun. Read the first few volumes, then wait til the final volume is scanalated and read that. You won't have missed anything.
Yakitate japan is a hilarious addicting manga and i highly recommend everyone to read it. Now on the other hand i also have to warn people to not watch the anime. The anime has to be one of the worst things i have ever watched making me furious at how bad, i mean BAD, at the remake of this great and flavorful series. Do Not under any circumstance watch the anime! It's like "Prince of Tennis" for those of you who are fans...manga is great but anime was a flop...yup,yup
Ok time to comment one manga that I never believed I would even read. I mean its about a baker.. GTO was the first "job" manga I have read (Actually first watched the anime) and I found it great and refreshing presenting a teacher many of us would love to have (at least thats what I believe) Actually it was not that weird since school life is even a genre if you think about it. The second story that was about jobs that I watched (since it was an anime) was comic party and it was about manga creators and how hard they have it making the manga for us (it was the one that had no "magic" parts). And the third one is this.
I never believed I would stick so much with this manga. It did not even take much time to get me hooked and want to see what will happen when I read the next page. Somehow the creator of this one made something like magic. I just could not have enough. Unlike other manga that I loved this one totally sucked me in from the first second. I got truly mesmerized because I can;lt explain how else I would keep reading a manga that talks about a super baker. Well I have read the first 14 Volumes in one go (not in one day just kept reading everyday a part till I reached V15) <MAJOR SPOILER!>
Spoiler (highlight to view)
and I gave up only as soon as I finished Volume 14 which was the volume that the hero defeats a final "boss" in a cooking contest and thus after volume 14 its like a new story begins. I felt like the new "season" starts after that. So I am waiting till the 26th episode will be translated so I can read the rest of them.
<MAJOR SPOILER!>
Well I love this manga and I suggest it. It is really well made and it somehow makes you like it. I am thinking the next job story I will read will be bartender but seems the manga is not popular much since only 1 chapter is translated. We shall see I guess. I just hope the 5 remaining volumes will be scanlated soon T.T
some guys wants this manga realistic how come it will be realistic? it will be boring i have read 26vol sometimes funny sometimes too much useless talk but overall very good manga guys who dont like it should buy a cookery book
lol i laughed so hard when conan come out lol ........the reaction is interesting =] plot isnt that complicated......it like a challegent ....one challenge gone another pop out and new comer comes and rival .......best out the manga...interesting character lol
whew, reading this manga makes me hungry. all the bread they made look so delicious, and the story is funny too. the only thing about this manga is what's up with those crazy reaction sure it's funny at first but it's just keep getting weirder and weirder. it's better than the reaction in the anime though. i mean........ GROWING GILLS JUST BY EATING A BREAD?
I've been a fan of this manga ever since I started reading this years ago; as such it's one of my favourites in the shounen genre. However! Sad to say, this is yet another comedy manga that goes on far longer than it should have. Everything up untill the end of the Monaco Arc is completely hilarious and a great read. But beyond that, you really start to feel it dragging. The TV Arc is simply not interesting enough, with entire volumes often spent on getting to a dull punchline. Therefor it's no wonder this manga got less popular in Japan, and eventually got dropped by Sunday. It really is quite a challenge to keep up the quality of a manga along its rising popularity; many fail, few succeed.
I definitely recommend you read this, if you like silly and over the top humor, and are looking for something different. But keep in mind that the last 10 or so volumes aren't up to the standard of the previous. Otherwise this would've been a pure 10.
