Description
For the sooty industrial town’s lads there’s only one point of light: The Light Club, a secret brotherhood they’ve organized in an abandoned factory. They’re on the verge of booting up their crowning achievement, a “thinking machine” fueled by lychee fruits. At the same time, the middle schoolers’ cooties-fearing solidarity is devolving into a downright National Socialist muck of murderous paranoia, perverse aestheticism, and (not always) suppressed homosexuality.

I really wanted to enjoy this manga, but the terrible german spoiled it for me. I couldn't take this story serious because I was like WTF
Nazis are bad enough, but Pseudo-Nazis?!

I came to this series, after hearing many positive, in fact, raving reviews about it, but now that I've read the first two chapters, I'm surprised to find that I'm not that enthused about this series. I can't say that this hasn't caught my interest, I'm really hoping someone scanlates the rest of it, so I can find out how everything turns out, but....
Of course, "evil" is basically the theme of this manga, but I find that it's like... trying too hard... to be evil. It doesn't feel effortless and flawless, is basically what I'm saying. Like all these little details referencing the devil and such were sort of thrown in there just to make it seem more ungodly, IDK.
The gore didn't disappoint, though, and the characters, despite all being dickwads are all very likable and individual. It looks like my favorite character Tamiya's going to be in trouble, though /sobs.
Very nice art and well written! There are many references to historical figures and events. The mangaka has certainly done his history.

Okay, I'll admit it. I started this series because I realized the uniform of the guy on the cover is what the opening theme sequence of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei was a tribute to. It wasn't a mistake. The art is beautiful and the crafts the best dark atmosphere I've seen in a manga. There are corrupt, evil undercurrents everywhere and in everyone. That said, this isn't a series for the faint of heart. There's a fair amount of gore and other nasty things. Unfortunately, I am the faint of heart. I highly suggest this series to people that are tougher than me - I'm afraid I can't handle it.
