Description
Cane Lele was born into the fashion industry. Her mother, Ye Fei Yi, was Taiwan's top model, and her father was also a model, until a tragic airplane crash left Lele without parents. Therefore, it is no surprise that Lele hates the industry, thinking it superficial and unnecessary.

Raised by her maternal grandmother, Lele reaches seventeen before she is sucked in by her mother's sister, Ye Fei Hong, a fashion model agent (and former model), convinces the reluctant Lele to model. Lele had been adverse to the whole idea, until she sees a photo shoot of popular American model Angus Lanson, and she begins to see modeling as an art form.

When Aunt Fei Hong's magazine editor invites Angus Lanson to a meeting of all the top fashion ambassadors, Lele is invited to meet him and is very curious. She does not know that Angus' twin elder brother, Eros Lanson, is secretly accompanying his brother. This obviously leads to confusion and is the start of a charming story of Lele's goals: fashion in NYC, becoming a top model, and love?

This was amazing.

On my all time list this makes the top 5. The drawing, though very angular, is gorgeous and bold. The eyes are done amazingly, so heavy lidded and expressive! The characters are given so much depth you really reach out to them. It's funny, but also very melancholic. I love both Eros and Angus, each of them has that dark edge that makes them seem like more vibrant characters. I never even expected Angus to be given so much depth! My heart ached for them so much X'( The time line is done nicely, I can even tell the time passing by the heroine's hair. The costume designs are gorgeous, it is realistic enough to make me believe that it was inspired by real cover models biggrin This story has compelled me to read into what will be 3 in the morning by the time I'm done, and I have to get up at 6. It is that good.

Awesome Read

The love story is moving, the scenes are beautiful, the plot is dreamy and the art is surreal. Maybe the rise to fame thing is cliche but the romance is heart-warming. No waiting for anything to develop either. There's gratification for the romance part for every volume, but you're still not able to predict what will happen. Not much girly ga-ga lines here, except yours if you're a fan girl like me.

I was put off of this manga for a long time over the whole twin thing in the summary, i thought it was going to be one of those shallow love triangles. I am very happy that I was wrong, she can tell them apart obviously, and the romance is just cute! The manga is also hilarious, and super cute, and the drawing is just gorgeous. Definitely one to read.

I'm actually shocked at how good it turned out. The first two volumes were boring but after that things really picked up in the story. This is the kind of manga you read on a rainy day with a hot cup of tea. I was drawn into the back story of Angus and Eros they both seem mysterious. Each brother has a scared past that makes the main female character empathic to there needs. I don't know who she'll chose in the end but a part of me hopes it's Angus. Then again Eros needs her the most...

Manhua!

Wow I actually really like this Manhua It was really a shocker how good this has turned out. It really does have a Paradise Kiss feel to it, and the relationship is sort of like that of Skip Beat with Ren and Kyoko.
However, Manhua is different from Japanese Manga, and your comparing it to something thats not even in its category. This manga should be campared to its own Manhua such as Ingenuo.
Well with all the controversy on this Manhua its still very awesome. Im rooting for Eros in the end!!

Be Careful

I get the feeling that most of the 10 ratings are for the early chapters, when it was actually interesting. The first couple of chapters are brilliant. The characters and the plot was very engaging. But then the drama went through the roof. It wasn't a quietly addicting drama, more like a"What NOW?" drama.
Still I'd recommend it. Like the other reviewer said the first half of the manhwa is REALLY worth reading. And if you want a soap opera that's already finished, then it's waiting for you. This is just a small alert for potential readers that want something that deserves all the 10s. By the later chapters, it was not worth that for me.

It's like a soap opera.
Rating: 7.4 / 10.0

It's a likable soap opera, mind you, but a soap opera nevertheless. IMHO, the first 50 or so chapters are great. Then it basically dissolves into classic soap opera episodes, some of the barely connected to one another. It also stays true to the shoujo drama, I would say, despite the smattering of realistic themes because the plot is just so contrived.
After a certain point, the arcs have you scratching your head wondering what a mess the plot has become, and the focus switches from character and career growth to long expositions of background story that don't feel at all necessary.
I feel that my review has become negative, but it isn't a bad manga. Yes, the author ruins a lot of her character development with the drama, but the relationship that Lele and Eros share is beneficial for both of them in a lot of ways. I appreciate that it's not a typical hot guy-because kind of romance. They both learn a lot from each other, even if it's difficult to see through the melodrama.
Also, this manga is funny. There are parts that are just overdone, so I can't say the comedy is always tastefully done, but at some parts you do get the feeling that it's making fun of its own melodrama. The main lead is at times borderline obnoxious, but somewhat relatable and quite funny, in my opinion. She's more than tolerable but not especially eye-catching, and I both love and hate the stubbornness and pride that she has and develops over the series. Eros is in a lot of ways the typical hot male lead, but what I love about this manhua is that it makes a point to talk about male vulnerability. All genders make relationship mistakes. All genders are allowed to cry about them. That openness is one of things that drew me to this manhua. I'm also just a sucker for stories about men who show their emotions.
Overall, this manhua isn't for everyone. It has way too much melodrama for it to be universally likable, and while the themes are somewhat relatable, they're also extremely romanticized. But it has it's good points, some of which I have listed above, and if those appeal to you, I recommend giving the first 50-ish chapters a read.

Not as expected

Rather than following the arcs seen in Skip Beat, where the heroine displays her talent through actually doing it (acting or modelling), The One uses modelling as an accessory. It's there as a convenient tool to progress the plot, rather than actually being important. I guess I was hoping for more scenes where Lele shows that she CAN model under various circumstances (If I remember correctly, it was only once or twice), but instead, there's the relationship and dynamics between Lele and the twins. It becomes more of a corrupt story where the leads are manipulated into very toxic love relations due to complicated family, and it spirals into a more psychological story. It's very focused on the brothers, and how their relationship is actually the plot, rather than centring on Lele.
If you want to read something that talks about the psychology on abuse, this might be for you. However, it's not executed very well, and its all over the place.

If you love..

...melodrama then by all means this is the manhua for you.

I did appreciate the refreshing pace of the story and its characters when I had initially followed it prior to it becoming more popular. Let me just say, it was lovely! The characterisation of Lele, the mentor-student relationship she developed with Eros, her going from strength-to-strength in her modeling career.. you could only think the story would move forward in leaps and bounds.

I was severely disappointed. They had to add in that extra element of an emotionally unstable twin brother (it honestly seems like he should be clinically deemed as a psychopath), and a love rival in the form of a more beautiful Feidna. The tropes kept popping up one after another. It was endless (almost as endless as the number of people Angus has bedded in this series).

Anyway, now that I've written a review almost as equally as melodramatic as this manhua, it's time I unveil my rating for it: 6.4 out of 10.

Character growth: 7 (strong at beginning; currently at a level of stagnation as the plotline seems to be solely focused on the bizarre Lele-Angus-Eros love triangle)
Plotline: 6 (had some originality to it.. however, becoming abit dry now)
Aesthetic appeal: 7 (I do enjoy the drawings, but sometimes she draws their features too harshly [very angular, not soft like how human features are supposed to be])
Personal enjoyment: 5.5 (I did love it, but if I'm rating this based on the recent chapters I'll have to say it truly deserves this mark).

A good read indeed

Well I must say at first I never thought I would read this but it was actually great! Really interesting, i want more if it. I realize that the plot does shift a lot now that I look back. The opening storyline is completely different than how it is in recent chapters and you see certain characters lesser and lesser (though they aren't really important ones so its fine). The feel of the story was great and consistant - changes were happening but it didnt make things worse or leave room for questions. The characters actions, emotions and reasoning for things seemed logical throughout the story. It's good to see characters that are realistic or at least have common sense. It gets a tad confusing towards the end but the plot is still good and not too crazy. It is a little melancholic but I liked that it wasn't just a shoujo that just jumped from conflict to easy happy ending. Also I felt it wasn't drenched in cliche themes (though realistically, all stories have some)

OVERALL:
Interesting
Well rounded main characters
Good shifting plot
