I loved it I really did but it also really depressed me. I was sitting and reading through it the whole time hoping that he didn't really die. If chapter 4 wasn't there I wouldn't have been so depressed but man the story is cold. But it was well done and I was pulled into reading it the whole way through and apart form the almost empty feeling i feel now I enjoyed it.

I've always watched manga's about drugs, even better if they are yaoi, the sad type and make you think, if you're sarching for cute loveable stuff, then ...this might not work as well as other funny-cute-one, but...I have to tell you, THIS ONE IS AWESOME!
It's a good one, it talks about life when you just do something and f*ck something when you're getting the feeling like, it makes me feel like me...I don't know, I liked the story made me feel excited, sad, and...well...what it feels to want to cry and when you just can't cry!

Wow, whatever you do, just try not to read it before you go to sleep. You'll stay awake just thinking about these characters.
It was so unbelievable dark and gripping. In no way just black or white, but rather abstract? You honestly have to step out of your believes of what is right or wrong, and just understand the characters for what they are.....or maybe not, in which case you'll really dislike it.

Interesting, but not captivating

As astroasis said, the plot tries to be gritty and realistic in a world that is nothing but your usual yaoiland. It's supposed to be "deep", and I appreciated the effort as this isn't your typical manga, but it fell totally flat for me and I couldn't get involved in the characters at all.
That being the said, the art is masterful (if not quite beautiful for my tastes) the composition of the panels is varied and sometimes striking, and the author has a definite talent for story-telling. But for all that the plot tried to be original, it failed to move me and be as enjoyable as Sugar Milk's clichéd "childhood friends" one. Originality isn't all, you have to have soul.

At first I didn't want to read this one, because I wasn't too fond of the art. This time I was proven wrong. The art fit the theme of the manga very well. It portrayed the intense emotions really good.
My only fault reading it was that I didn't read it slow enough. Which is why I wasn't always able to grasp every moment thoroughly. So I advise you to read it very slow, take a good look at every single picture. They're well worth it.

when toshimitsu commited suiced and jumped of the building. I was so stricken with grief despite the fact he was a bastard. I only stopped feeling that he was a bastard when i saw how much he loved Ryuu. That touched me beyond imagination. My heart hurt alot as i realised that even though there were all these woman around him, he went and reached for Ryuu. The way this manga exectued everything fenomenal. There was perfect balance and although not all the feelings were put into words, the audience could easily see what the charecters were feeling. For example, with Toshimitsu, the way he kept repeating Ryuus name over and over showed his need for the boy. And even in that last phone call there was so much that could've been said, but it was so short and simple yet so full of meaning. The way he asked for his name to be said was as though he were asking to be told 'i love you' by Ryou.
Im still really sad even though things ended, being the pacifist type, i wanted Toshimitsu and Ryuu to end up together. I wanted Toshimitsu to live so badly.
The art was great and really suited the dark storyline. I like how Ryuu was truly ugly but still cute at the same time so you understood where they were coming from. My favourite charecter in this story was him and im glad he found a happy ending. As for my poor Toshimitsu :'(... im far too attached to this manga that its incredibly sad D:

If you like, light, cutesy, typical, predictable end type yaoi you won't like this because this it's the exact opposite and I loved every page of it.
Now I don't like the art style, which almost turned me against reading but as I got into the story it sort of grew on me. This was... a really good read. It wasn't "typical", the characters were complex yet easy to understand and the story is very gripping. Definitely for more mature readers and those with an open mind to be able to understand the message the artist is trying to convey.

Dark abmiance, grit, smut, painful realism. Its got it all. This was an excellent story. It starts in the present but has a sharp focus on the past, reliving important events and showing exactly what consequences those past actions later merit. Its harsh but real, and both entertaining and distractingly dark. I really loved it, this is truly brilliant.
Very good.

It was sad but very beautiful. This is one of the most moving, beautiful, and heartbreaking mangas I've ever read. I couldn't help but hope that the Toshimitsu guy did not die in the end and that somehow everybody would live happily. That in itself was beautiful. I look forward to more from this mangaka. A very good read!

*blink*. say what, @astroasis? "an unrealistic world where women don't seem to exist and every man is gay"? there are women in this manga, and because jaryuu dokuro isn't afraid of boobies and a vag, some are even naked, and there is hetero sex (which is rather more realistic than most BL). there is, in fact, nothing unrealistic here whatsoever, it's simply not a story about either common BL tropes nor about BL gayness either. in fact, being gay is not a major point here at all; it's incidental to the story -- there's no coming out here, or fighting against stereotypes, no forbidden love, or "gay for you"; nobody here is defined by their homosexuality.
what it is instead, is a poetic, thoughtful glimpse into the minds of some ordinary people who have touched each other's lives, into their memories, regrets and hopes (and drug-induced trips into hell). there's nothing new per se about a former delinquent who is confronted with his messy past, nor about an addict who is consumed by drugs, but the way it is handled here is just brilliant. the structure of the narrative is innovative, and the art tells half the story. this doesn't deserve to be shunted off into the yaoi ghetto, because it so far transcends the genre it ought to be shelved with other serious graphic novels instead.
i'd be very surprised if i'll get to read anything else like it this year. if you're looking for sex, don't bother -- it's there, and its good, but it's not wank material. if you're looking for light and fluffy, keep moving, beause this is mostly dark and sad, if ultimately hopeful. if you like, say, mizushira setona, give this a try.
