Not as good as I hoped

Sadly, this story really did have potential to be greater, but after finishing it, it just felt pathetic.
Anyway, this was kind of predictable to read if you've read plenty of incest/yaoi mangas, so I wasn't at all surprised by the turn of events. It just seemed that the author had a good idea rolling, but she just couldn't execute it to the point where I could accept the relationship between Himeko and Yoshino. But then again, this is psychological, so maybe that was her intent. I know that three chapters isn't enough to fully develop a story at this magnitude so that's why I'm not as critical as I would have been if this story had been several volumes. It's not the worst story, but skip it if you can't stand weak female leads who are being controlled by others like a puppet.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
It felt that the girl, Himeko, goes along with her older brother's twisted desires because she doesn't want to lose him, and being the inconsiderate person that he was, he takes advantage of her innocence by exploiting her desire to not lose him and turning their brother-sister relationship into a sexual one. By doing this, in the last chapter, I couldn't support them. I mean, incest already is a iffy topic, but if two people love each other enough to go down that path, so be it and I’ll support them.
But, I can't accept it when one person manipulates the other into it with a silent threat hanging in the air, like how Yoshino did. It was obvious that Himeko loves Yoshino, but it still felt like that of brotherly love where she was willing to do whatever it took so that she wouldn't lose Yoshino, and not that of a woman in love with a man. If Yoshino really loves Himeko, like he keeps saying he is, he wouldn't be forcing Himeko into a sexual relationship, but it's because he KNOWS that Himeko doesn't see him in the same light that he does for her, that's why he's forcing her into a path where he can easily take advantage of her. It really didn't sit well with me. And also, Yoshino seemed like an emotional mess at the end, and although I can understand that it's because of his feelings for Himeko is finally starting to come out into the open where he is losing control, I can't like him for acting like a horny boy instead of a mature adult. He wants Himeko to be by side and that means pushing her over her limits into a sexual relationship where she is only willing to do in order to not lose him, and he knows it. Argh, I just couldn't go along with this.
As for Tsubaki, I couldn't stop from pitying him, being that he was just the bystander used for eye-candy prop and a little fire trigger under Himeko and Yoshino's asses in their half-assed love affair. Him being gay was unexpected at first, but it quickly became obvious soon after his introduction for me, and his love for Yoshino was quite sad. He was the wounded party because being gay is consider “bad”, but incest is “worse” in most people's eyes, so to see his love being in love with his sister must have been painful. But still, the author still didn't manage to make me like him enough to sympathize with him.

The art in here is very well drawn and has its own style to it. We didn't see any real sex - just kissing. The dark shading and storytelling made this story a little disconcerting, even though I don't have a problem with incestuous romance. If anything, I wish this was more focused on love/romance than the tabooness part. The male lead was very handsome. This was an ok read!

Well, at least I can spoil that it's not tagged as shounen-ai because it's actually the only twist in the whole story when it turns out that one of them is gay. It doesn't really mater though cause the main character likes to make out with all his siblings which is not strange considering his big love for the family which is mentioned in the beginning of the first chapter.
Anyway I don't recommend this manga.

This was recommended to me b/c I like Flowers of Evil, but man this reads like a bad parody of an otherwise interesting concept.
There's little to no motivation behind the characters actions and it seems like they just do things b/c they can. FoE drew me in b/c the characters had depth and believable (though twisted) reasons for the way they behaved. None of that is portrayed here.
Now I'm definitely not one to talk about feminism, but the gender roles portrayed in this series is almost sickening. Young girls are subjugated and broken down into soulless lumps of clay by guys who should be protecting them from those kinds of predators.
"But it's only a manga." Well, it is, but it's a very crappy one even at the base level (story). You know something's wrong when all the category recommendations are all hentai even though this is a shoujo manga.

I've read some mangas that involved incest before, so I thought this would be a walk in the park. TOTALLY NOT. Holy moly, I was just shocked with every page! What the heck are these people doing!
Another thing I didn't like about this was the fact that Yoshino's personality isn't consistent. In fact, with every chapter he seems to be going downward. By the last chapter, I definitely thought he was a big 'ole creep and his only redeeming factor was the fact that his hair still looked good(which doesn't really count).
O-O The oneshot story also seems to follow along the same lines. The brother is creepy, very creepy, but through some cliche reasoning, the sister decides to return her brother's affections. The concept is so creepy. This theme of incest has been done before, but I've never read it in such a creepy manner before. The idea just makes me ill Not reading this volume again after I'm done.
PS. I wish Yoshino would just get a regular girlfriend. Geez. He needs to keep it in his pants.

The sister is obviously disturbed by the incest factor, and doesn't appear to like her brother in a sexual way, but she's just letting him do whatever because she loves him. The brother, who seems to be overwhelmed by his sexual need(read: horniness), just goes on with his deeds nonetheless. I just pity Tsubaki, who's also twisted, but it's not completely his fault. He's just trapped in this really ridiculously weird love triangle-type thing.

This plot reminds me a lot of the more twisted Yaoi manga by Motoni Modoru or Nakamura Asumiko even though the genre differs. Thus it might be a little bit hard to digest for the usual Shoujo readers. I for my part really enjoyed this work and especially like how this is different from the usual cliche Shojou plot-device with step-siblings falling in love^^

Ive always been a fan of romance, but shoujo sometimes could be too much to handle (all that gooey love stuff and such haha). Thats why I look for something...with a little bit extra. The incest factor here gave me that. Ive read incest manga before but I must say this is 1 of my fave. A love that cannot be denied, so strong yet so fragile at every corner. Sure, the brothers are pretty freaky but thats their love, and I have nothing against it. In fact, to be able to fall into such forbidden love, even knowing that it is wrong and would bring tears to themselves and everyone near them, is actually a powerful thing that I cannot ignore.
7/10
Not to mention the art is beautiful. And its great that the manga is only a volume long.

I am fairly liberal minded, I am not a naive innocent child but this quite frankly disturbed me a lot. I have read incest things before but this takes the cake. Maybe because the male siblings are all psycho stalkers. I am getting the willies thinking about it If there was a score under 1 I would put it down.

After reading the whole volume...
I flipping hate the main couple, and the brother especially. He is some twisted bastard. He's just nuts and the sister isn't better.
I felt really sorry for Tsubaki, he deserves better. But hey...this reminds of some Hollywood thing where they make the gay guys the bad guys or something.
Sure the art is wonderful in the shoujo world, but I wished the story was as good as the story lol. It would've been ultra better if Tsubaki actually took action on Himeko or Yoshino. Try killing one of them and see what happens or if Yoshino got Himeko pregnant. The whole family discovers it and BAM! crazy story there. Sometimes people need to develop into the consequences.
Being gay isn't as bad as having an incestuous relationship...yeah...I don't know if the whole issue was treated on a biased POV, but I'm starting to have bitter feelings towards this manga and the mangaka herself lol
