Description
Renai Junkie
Haruki was betrayed by his girlfriend Kiyuka and his best friend Ikeda. After retreating from them, he starts to become friends with Atsushi, one of the most popular guys in school. After a conversation with Atsushi, he realizes the mistakes he made. He reconciles with Ikeda and accepts his relationship with Kiyuka. Atsushi who eavesdropped on their conversation offers to take care of Haruki. They become very close and Haruki realizes that he's fallen in love with Atsushi. How will their relationship develop?

I'm more of a casual yaoi reader... and I don't really read yaoi for the sex scenes. So usually, hard yaoi isn't my favorite. However, I felt that the plots in this volume were enough to capture my attention. I liked the characters a lot, as well. Both the main story and "Shadow" were both really great examples of yaoi with a plot and some substance. I'm actually surprised so much plot was squeezed into one volume.
I had the opposite reaction to Shadow. You may be initially upset because a character has a devastating problem, but evenually you're happy once he's been "rescued". I like the emotional roller coaster of a good rescue.
I gave this a 7 because the art is beautiful and I have the general feeling this manga is not meant for vanilla yaoi readers like me:
in Shadow, the fact that one character had tiny non working genitalia made me uncomfortable- it took the fun out of the sex scenes for me.
In Renai Junkie there is a surprise reversal of roles (seme-uke) near the end, after the pairing was already established. It WAS justified by the story, though, so in the end I did enjoy the story.
