Although a truly gifted hairstylist, Kiri Koshiba has no interest in using her talent to pursue fame and fortune, unlike the three popular boys in the "Scissors Project" at school. Determined to become the best makeover team in Japan, they give showy makeovers to handpicked girls. As much as Kiri tries to shy away from the Scissors Project spotlight, she finds herself responding to beauty's call...
Note: Beauty Pop Stage 2 is from volume 7 to 10. It is a continuation of Beauty Pop. This is because they were published after the hiatus. The whole series ends with 10 volumes.

The female lead is definitely not those girly types or characters, its actually quite rare to find a female lead like Kiri in a manga. I just love her motto, "Let me add some magic" i always love those moments. Its totally funny how Kiri is just like her dad and how Narumi is just like his dad. This manga is definitly a must read if you're looking for a slow romantic plot, and enjoyable comedy. Just so the readers know, i have not yet finished the manga while i am posting this

Freaking unique heroine
I don't read shoujo much nowadays, although I still think Beauty Pop is a real gem amongst shoujo. The main female protagonist is seriously likeable since she is just so different to all the cliched heroines floating around lately: kind yet cold, indifferent, a bit apathetic. She also doesn't really care for romance much at all, doesn't randomly blush nor cry easily, doesn't care about her appearance (just retaining a simple bob even though she's an expert haircutter), and isn't weak enough that she'd lose to the main male rival. Seriously, she is just so fresh and interesting in contrast to the heroines from typical shoujo manga. The focus on haircutting throughout also sounds a bit lame, but is actually quite interesting and drives the story forward. Definitely recommended.

Kiri is one of my favorite shoujo leads
I agree with Jeshia... Kiri is possibly one of my favorite shoujo leads ever because she is not annoyingly strong, excessively cheerful, or falls head over heels over a guy. Despite her detached and aloof persona, she is a caring person who helps girls to be more beautiful and confident without asking for anything in returns. It's hard to find many shoujo leads that have a calm personality, someone who thinks things through and is willing to help others like Kiri. Narumi can be kind annoying sometimes with his hot-headedness, but he serves as a foil to Kiri,

not to mention, a love interest in the opposite-attract theme.
The whole business of hair cutting is a little bit over-the-top and the tranformation of the girls who have modeled for SP is underwhelming. But still, like Jeshia said, Beauty Pop has a positive message and a good morality regarding beauty, albeit a little bit superficial for the older shoujo readers (though older shoujo readers, like myself, can certainly enjoy this manga series). BP remains one of my favorite shoujo manga and something I would re-read for fun.

Not Really Shoujo....
When I started to read this manga, I thought that it would be a lovey dovey sort of thing But when i finished reading it, it seemed more seinen than shoujo because there was no real love just Narumi in love with kiri, no kiss. But overall the manga is good
It was cute!
This was a great manga! I mean, the main character is different from most mangas which makes it interesting. Kiri is basically indifferent about everything and she can make the most awesome hairstyles. I loved seeing how different people were transformed. It was always a different hairstyle each time. I really envy the talent Kiri has. The art was also good, that's why the hairstyles seemed awesome. Its starts off a bit slow but it bets better. I think the plot and characters are pretty good. I loved the manga!
It was good
Beauty Pop was pretty good. I liked Kiri a lot. She never got annoying, and she always had this aloof expression that made her not only cool but kind of funny as well. The hair cutting contests made the manga pretty interesting; they kept me reading because I would always want to know the result of the contests (even though it was pretty obvious Kiri would win every time). Narumi was pretty entertaining too. There was just enough romance in this manga, and I'm so glad that the author didn't put any unnecessary typical shoujo romance drama. I thought ten volumes was a good length, although I do kind of wish that the author had made the manga just a little bit longer for the sake of developing the relationship between Kiri and Narumi. Overall it was a very good read. It's one of those mangas that are entertaining enough to read again.

This was so cute!
It was an amazing manga manga with very interesting characters and a original plot. This manga didn't have some stupid girl that cries every chapter. She didn't fall in love with the first guy she sees. The author developed the characters wonderfully. It was funny but at the same time there were some deep parts. I would really recommend this!
I absolutely LOVE this manga.
Out of all the shoujo mangas I read, this will forever remain my favorite. The main character, Kiri, is designed very nicely. Her character breaks free from the typical cliche shoujo character. I love how she doesn't flaunt out her talent for cutting hair, but instead, helps others with her talent. The love rivalry is very well written out ^_^ Another thing I also liked about this manga was how the love wasn't rushed; since love isn't meant to be rushed... The art was pleasing and the ending was satisfying ;3 10/10
I LUHRVED it sooooo much! (yes, you just heard a fangirl squee!) I loved the art, and the story was cute... the ending could've been better, yes, it was cliched, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would've begged for moar moar moar, but alas, it is forever complete. Tip of the hat to Kiyoko Arai-Sensei. This is one of my favorites.
It was really more than I expected. I loved Kiri's attitude, totally nonchalant. This was a really nice manga in a time when I was really bored and needed something good to read. Loved it!
