Short and Cute.
Mishima-Sensei~ What else can I say? I've read most of her mangas because I just love the twists she puts to the whole Seme and Uke roles.
I've read this one about three times and I'm pretty sure I'm reading it again in the near future. The plot isn't amazing, nothing unique. But the characters and the cuteness makes up for the lack of originality.
The art? Amazing, as always, again nothing extraordinary, but definitely above average.
The manga is nothing spectacular or out of this world but it's definitely a nice lighthearted read. It's short but it's definitely not a waste of time. It's a good breath of a fresh air from those dramatic, angsty yaois with the raping and mean semes ^_^
Characters: 8/10 Art: 8/10 Plot: 6.5/10
i'm the odd one out
because i don't see what's so great here. i actually agree that this is one of mishima's better works; her art has become somewhat decent (though i still hate her eyes; they always look angry), but it only stands out among her own works, not overall. maybe i've read too much good realistic BL lately, but this simply didn't touch me. the premise wasn't bad; i actually enjoy "doll turns human" stories. but shimeji was annoying as hell, shin is pretty much devoid of any personality, and there was little character development. there is also no mechanism to make the plot work, which isn't uncommon for japanese fantasy, but it always bothers me. and the end seemed rushed; we only get told that years have passed, we see nothing of whether shin ever felt despair (who wouldn't?). oh, and that joke shin pulled at the end was idiotic and hurtful and made me dislike him.

THIS WAS SO CUTE
I know the plot throws you off...another of those "doll turning human" plots, but give it a try! It's a wonderful story with such a beautiful ending. It brings you to tears! No, it's NOT tragic..the fact that the doll lives off his master's love should give the hint that they'd be together forever. Such amazing dialogue too, the way the characters expressed themselves. Everything just fit perfectly together. There weren't any unecessary drama. This story will make you laugh, cry and the extra gives you a little somethin somethin

Cause when it ended, I was about to deleat the yaoi in the genre but the extra makes up for it.
Anyway, I've read this author's other works..but this one is her best so far.. I was really moved. Their dedication to each other... such serenity! I really love it.
fawking loved it
..omg..I fawking loved this story..and I'm not gonna lie..the 5th chapter made me cry..cause I personally thouhgt that that part was so sad..to tell you the truth..this was the first ever manga to make me cry..weird..yes..but that's just me..I don't know about you guys but shimeji was just fawking gorgeous..and I thought they were a perfect match for each other.. shin x shimeji 4 ever..
Strange how incredibly cute, heartwarmingly sweet and yet painfully angsty this manga is. The characters are very nicely done and the story is quite impressive - I generally like Mishima Kazuhiko's works but I agree that this one is one of her best. I felt my heart ache near the end when

that crazy guy attacked Shimeji. It was so awful to see his cute doll-face broken, and when I saw Shin crying over him.... my god, I was really touched.
Just like with the end. I was surprised that Shin spent 13 years on learning how to repair Shimeji by his own hands, but it was really sweet. However, the text on the second last page was what totally got me gasp for air: "Many long years later, the master's life was finally nearing its end... and even then, the doll remained at his master's side. ... And when his master finally passed away, the doll never moved again." I was actually touched to my soul. Really.
Unusal from Mishima-sensei, there really isn't much "action" in this story - near the end of it I thought it will end with shounen-ai (I would be alright with that, too). But the extra has a really yummy and sweet bed-scene.^^
The only reason I didn't give it 10 is that I preserve that to my absolute favourites. But this is definitely a must read. )

This was just plain C-U-T-E! There were a lot of sweet, fluffy moments and the ending made me go "awww." I've read this one 3 times over already and still can't get enough of these two lovable characters! If you want a quick and super sweet read, then you simply MUST give this one a try! But....
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Don't be fooled on who the seme and uke are! Who knows? In the end, their "roles" may just surprise you.
... But I liked the way it turned out ^^ I always get this super giddy feeling after I'm finished reading I find the idea very unique!
this manga is good better than i expected. From the beginning, i thought it was jus gonna be another love story with a bit useless drama on the way. But it goes a bit deeper. With the end, The ending was beautiful.
I love this!
Shame it's only a volume, but with that one volume, I deeply enjoyed the story and reread it on my spare time. What made me really like this story was the interaction with the doll and his master (as the doll first calls him). The doll goes through some emotions that he never experienced before and it was enjoyable to see his reactions and his discovery to them.
MISHIMA Kazuhikos works are normally all a little similar and not tooo deep but lovers Doll is just great and in my opinion her best work. It's really cute and the development of their relationship and the characters is very touching.

Beautiful And Cute
I simply LOVED it . This is my first time writing a comment. This manga is too good to go comment-less.
The manga beautifully portrays the emotions and fears of a doll who was always hated by people and called a monster. It finally finds love in his new master. But there are troubles to go through and solve before they can be together. A perfect manga with the correct blend of angst+happiness.
