Not what I was expecting

I was expecting more of a love story.. Which threw me off that there was more action then love.
Which is not all that bad..
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
starts with a girl that lives Ina controlling house hold.. She then gets bombarded by this sexy shinobi guy.. That to me was too sweet to be one ... Then bad guys come in .. One on a murderous rampage.. The middle is kind of exciting but does get you lost with the past.. The time travel started to drone on through it as well.. The brothers story made me so sad.. Then in the end it all makes sense.. But I did wish for more love build up between the two.. alright emotionally.. I would have loved to see more of the added story of the brothers but all is well.

A nice change from regular shoujo

I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Initially I was quite unsure about the characters and the plot - Beni really annoyed me. But it quickly became really interesting a wonderfully unpredictable, which is quite refreshing in a shoujo manga. I will say that the plot got a little bit too convoluted at some points and I occasionally thought bits dragged on and I wanted them to hurry up, but for the most part, this was a really wonderful manga.

I thought it would be just a cliche story about a brat girl falls for her bodyguard then engage to another man.
BUT.
It's not just what it is.
The time-travel element gives the plot more interesting.

Becomes more and more addictive

The plot is amazing, once the twists and turns start taking place, you won't be able to stop.
I've read my fair share of manga and I have to say, I did NOT see a couple of these things coming, such as
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Beni's dad being from the past or that he knew Kagetora before chapter 1

The art is wonderful, especially after volume 5.
Embarassed Kagetora makes me want to squee.
I just wish they would have clarified at the end whether
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Beni's dad accepted Kagetora and whatever happened to Enji

Other than that, everything wrapped up nicely. Very interesting read - was not disappointed.

Way better

Than how I initially felt the manga would be. The first few chapters were really nothing more than shoujo dump. But eventually there was an actually story to be told, and the story was honestly not bad. The heroine, wasn't very impressive - she went from a genuine tomboy to a genuine useless, crybaby heroine. All in all, I didn't really hate her, but she wasn't exactly my favorite character either.

For a romantic shoujo, with ninjas and time skips, the story was really quite nice.

It gets better..and better... and even better...

At first (about 10 or 15 chapters) i didn't think much about this story - just a typical shoujo, a lot like Dengeki Daisy, with all the cliche characters and situations you could think of.
But.
After that, about the time when we meet Hitaki it got better. And by the 15 chapter or so i was completely hooked. The story became intriguing and very sad, and a lot of interesting characters were presented (while the main pair is too dull for me all the supporting characters are great). They have different reasons for what they do, most of the story you see through eyes of at least two of them, and i like the way the author portrayed this.
Also - the mangaka did a good job of not getting confused with all the time-skipping, and in the end everything is tied more or less together. Which - judging by how complicated the plot becomes - is something remarkable.

Not a 10, because it's not a masterpiece, but overall it's one of the best.

Very enjoyable short summer read

Though the story is not remarkable and the plot not so original, I really did have a nice time. All characters are good-natured and likable, some have heartwarming and touching sob stories, but unfortunately they do not leave lasting impressions. Plus points for the pace though, a fast pace overall with very nice intervals of backstory and romance and bromance and such. The artwork is clean and very expressive. All in all a light, fun, sweet and short read with a very summer-like vibe. Solid 7 for me.

If You Want a Strong Story Heavy on the Time Skip

Amazing art, intense story, complex characters, but damn it, I hate it when a handful of new or reenvisioned characters are introduced in the middle of the story.

I don't usually like time skip stories either, unless it is a minimal part of the story, so don't let my review set you off--as long as you don't mind extreme time skip plot, I recommend what I did read! I enjoyed the first five volumes immensely!

Kamakiri and Bokutachi Otokonoko by this same author are two of the most memorable, outstandingly well done manga I have ever read.

Beautiful!

It takes a little while for the manga to get really really good and interesting, but it's beautiful and funny from the very beginning and that's why I kept reading at first. It's very much a shoujo romance with a lot of very shoujo sparkle-squeal-fade-into-flower moments (which you may or may not love- I love it but laugh at it too) but there's actually a lot of good action and suspense too to keep the plot moving. Some amazing twists here and there. I love time travel stories! Especially when things get dangerous hehehe. And I love the characters, how they all have multiple sides and reasons for their personality and first impressions could be misleading. Funny enough, the most interesting characters are not the main ones, but we love the main pair anyway. My absolute favorite character is Renkaku, who you don't meet till the middlish of the story. Then Hitaki.

Overall a fun story, perfect for someone who wants a good shoujo that doesn't drag on with cliche ideas and plots. Romance, action, and a good amount of dramatic moments. smile

It was okay.

Not a great manga, but an okay one. Beni is kind of an annoying character - but she IS a shoujo heroine, so you kind of have to accept that going in. The plot also dragged in the middle, and there were several periods where I just couldn't bring myself to read the new releases because previous chapters were so unmemorable that I didn't have any idea of what was going on, and didn't want to re-read to remind myself BECAUSE the chapters were so boring.

But, that said, it WAS a good manga when it wasn't dragging. The time travel was interesting, and there were one or two twists that I didn't see coming, which was fun. Definitely not one my favorite manga list, but a nice enough read that I will probably come back and read it all in one go at some point in the future. Maybe it won't seem so uninteresting in the middle if I can get through all of the "blah" chapters quickly, without having to go back to figure out what was happening.
