unforgetable shounen manga

Since i first finished reading ichigo 100% i began to read a lot more shonen romance manga. However among them only a few that can bring me such a warm and connected feeling with the charracter inside the manga. I am very love the way that every charracter has a dream which drive them to reach their future. Nevertheless the ending was perfect, if you can think clearly its absolutely logical why the ending is like that.

This is without a doubt one of the best manga's I've read.
Yes some will complain the main character is weak and can't make up his mind but I found that truthful. I myself "though NOT in any sort of harem setting" always found myself out of touch with what I should do as far as girls whom I like and who liked me while I was a teenager. There were many times where the timing was just simply not there. And that's what this story is. It's a story as much about timing as about finding your own path in life and following it.
Was this perfect, no. If it was i would have given it a 10 There were a couple characters that in my opinion Manaka would have been happy with. But the choice he made was without a doubt the correct one. That is always the truest test of a harem style manga. Do you feel there is a right answer even when you have your own personal favorites, and in reality any choice made would be a good choice.

Strawberries, ponnies and chasing dreams

I can't say I read much shounen romance up to this point but starting this series I kinda knew what to expect. Cliched plot, lots of ecchi scenes, somewhat annoying main character. So from the very beginning I would not be disappointed by that stuff. General things out of the way first: art was ok nothing else, cliched plot, comedy wasn't there for me, found only a couple of scenes to make me laugh, drama moments are rare and quickly resolved and make little impact to the story.

Now, the main premise of any harem manga is, of course, having bunch of people falling in love with one person who then gets to decide his/her preference. All this is set up so the reader would usually take a pick of the favorite character and rooting for him/her throughout the series. Simplistic and repetitive concept but strangely efficient when coupled with decent writing. I finished this series in 4 days and still felt it outdrawn at the times when plot made no progress. Some chapters had no purpose there then being a filler. With all these flaws I could still not help it but attach myself to this manga till it's very end.

The main character, as I said before, proved to be mildly annoying. Many readers were irked by his indecisiveness. Stupid indecisive prick, is what I fell he is at times but still has some good sides to him and I could not make myself to actually hate him. Now on to the female characters, the harem part. I will put this in a spoiler.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Let's start with Aya. I don't like her, plain and simply. She falls for the mc from the very beginning but never acts upon it until the very end. Yes, Manaka helped her out of her shell, made her fell more confidence about her writing and shared his dream that she accepted as her own. And that's it. Their exchange is limited to that. All this receives no further development other than Aya finally realizing she has her own path in life to follow. She felt kinda pathetic.

I have few things to say about Satsuki. When she appeared at first I liked her character. She was very outgoing, aggressive even and her relationship with Manaka builds over time with them having similar tastes. But then, a disaster. She uses only her body to seduce him. Her aggression spills over and she strips naked in front of him, forces herself on to him, even tries to rape him couple of times. So Satsuki surfaces as a one trick pony she is and builds my dislike towards her. Mangaka even tried to drop her from the race two time always bringing her back like she couldn't figure out what else to do with her afterwards.

Now the main course, Tsukasa. For me the most enjoyable character of the entire series. She's not too passive and not too aggressive and falls down the middle of the previous two. She is nice but not lenient like Aya, has backbone and tends to speak her mind but is not overly obtrusive like Satsuki. With Manaka Tsukasa is both kind and harsh at times but always showing her love and loyalty. At one point she dumps him but soon comes back and is ready to wait for him to make up his mind. Not that Manaka did anything to deserve this but whatever.

All this being said, the ending didn't came as much of a shock really. I read other people comment's and was quite surprised to see many readers not expecting it. I pretty much dropped Aya as a likely candidate to end up with mc early in the series. Doubt about this prediction did surface in the last couple of volumes but throughout the series I gave more chances to Yui than Aya. As I mentioned before, her and Manaka's relationship receives no development. They like each other from the start but neither does anything about it. You need more than initial liking for relationship to works. Many people think that they were fated to be together but that is stupid. I am honestly glad that fated couple/number thing at the festival didn't get further advancement. That would be moronic. Opposite to this you have Tsukasa who took more active role. She didn't seek to get close to Manaka by following him to the same school. She took her time with him, going slowly and building up and coming out on top by showing great character development. Even her ecchi scenes served to a purpose of advancing their relationship, unlike the others'. Had Manaka ended up with some other girl all that build up would be in vain. The ending itself was classical "x years later" type. It has a small degree of openness to it. Manaka is still on his way of becoming a successful movie director and his relationship whit Tsukasa starts over with their future relying solely upon them. I tend to like it.

So overall, it was an enjoyable read. The series got me going but it was in no way that good for me wanting to read it again sometimes.

OVERRATED!

When i read this for the first time 4 years back i really enjoyed it and thought it was Decent

but after having to re-read it for the past couple of months i had to say i stopped it half way through...ughh it was so annoying...Manaka would always get into these position where he land on someone's boobs or touches ass and all that annoying Ecchi stuff every 4-5 pages got annoying really fast

Toujou Aya is frustrating, she is there just for the sake of being there....always getting interrupted, never making a move and waiting for that indecisive TWAT manaka to do something lol right....actually if you noticed throughout the manga NISHINO was far and ahead of every girl...there was NO competition or equal preference as Fans make out to be

lets see

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
First and ONLY Person Manaka ever Dated - NISHINO
First and ONLY Person Manaka ever Kissed - NISHINO
First and ONLY Person he made a congressial Date with - Guess who?

sorry to say after having to read it for the 2nd time i noticed alot of glares and Tropes that annoyed me even to the extent of bringing the score down from 7.5 to an ABYSMAL 1

Didn't really expect the ending

I have to admit, that i didn't see the ending will be like that
but this manga give me a thing that i shouldn't decide things only from the beginning

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
i personally like Aya with Manaka, since i think they have the same "aura"
and i really like the way they "wishy washy thing", their undecided habit, and a lot of thing about Aya and Manaka

because i've read some spoiler, i can't really bring myself to read this manga from vol1 to 19, but i skip trough the end, just because my curiosity, and i don't think i'm gonna finish this manga.
it really hard you know, when you wish about something, but it didn't happen (well, the world just happen to be like that)

but for those who want to read a good comedy/romance manga, i guarantee that you will be satisfied with this manga, JUST DON'T READ THE SPOILER YET, UNLESS YOU WANT BECOME LIKE ME, Unsatisfied, Uncomplete Read

Toujou Aya is the best ichigo%

With All due respect to my me down much the author .
anyway I liked the manga, and I hope more of Aya Toujou , more participation of the character , que as I said , she let her into oblivion .
Therefore I think That the first part of the manga is better Because the two characters , and nishino toujou Participate Equally in the manga.
This fashion manga end badly .
With respect to ichigo 100 % : Nishino do not like the character. first is unfriendly, second only thinks of himself . third: see calculator, not spontaneous , I do not like . I think if you like it so much , is because it's cute , but his personality does not buy at all.
Kitaoji : the created to make life miserable for Toujou totally gifted to Manaka , for me is the bad the manga , in company with Amachi . That's why I do not like Nishino , did not have to suffer to Amachi and Kitaoji .
A Toujou will play the worst, Nishino had a clear path all the time. Get away from Manaka obviously does not cost anything, it was four years in France .
Toujou for me was the best character , spontaneous, sweet, loving , good person , intelligent, the only thing wrong is your timides , and being so innocent that 's passed over , is very confident, and trust in the wrong people.

Oh boy... one of those who leaves you with a big hole in your heart after finishing it...

The bad:
Sometimes it's gets hard to believe, because of the excessive use of coincidences and cliches, It seems like the author is trying to drag the story a little longer while not letting it evolve. For instance:
I wouldn't Manaka ever act on instinct when he had the chance? It would be more believable if he did stuff and then suffered the consequences, even regretting later. The story would then be more believable and it would have more material to develop upon. There were these points where, instead of a natural flow, it was more like the author was pushing it in a certain direction, and that kept the manga from being richer. I also hated that...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the author just abandoned Satsuki at a certain point. In the last chapter she actually says that she likes Toujo and Nishino ¬¬

The good:
One of the things that makes this manga exciting is that, the partner for the main character is never obvious throughout the reading.
It went on for years, and because of that, even with it's flaws, the story had the opportunity continually develop in unexpected ways. New and valuable new characters kept being introduced, while the old ones become ever more interesting and lovable. It does a good job at involving the reader at an emotional level where you can passionatly cheer for, against, and worry about whats gonna happen.

In the end.. I think.. The flaws here, I mean, the usage of cliches and such, are mostly at a superficial level. When it comes to what really matters, this is NOT cliche-like AT ALL. Yes.. you could forsee stuff like panty shots coming and accidental falls, but thats it! And the amazing ending this manga had is proof of that.
Now.. wow, what an ending.. It's really great when you spend this much time reading and the author doesn't let you down on the most important part. Probably the best ending I have read so far, I can name just a few that would be equally good.

So, even with its flaws, I give this manga a 10.

Specially because, this is one of those that you'll never forget, and might comeback once in a while to read again, and are probably going to look for other mangas with the same quality and theme.

this is the manga where i was most satisfied with.

i love how the plot developed the relationships, and how the development for each girl was the deciding factor on which one the main character ended up with.

i have already forgotten the story, but one thing sticks to my mind

it was perferctly developed for a Nishino Tsukasa ending

Still My Favorite

i've read a lot of mangas over the years and yet this one still manages to remain as my most favorite one. The characters of this story really just makes you feel connected to them. And i agree with dannyboy95 when he mentioned how we actually understand why each of the girls fall in love with the main character. Though i may be biased because this manga was among the first ive ever read.

In my opinion though the anime is better than the manga but they're both defiantly a 10. also because of this manga, i havent been able to read love hina which i feel (after reading a couple chapters of it) is not as good as this manga.

I didn't like the ending of this manga. It leaves you with a very great feeling of sadness.
Ichigo east side story was worse than I thought.
Kawashita became a fan of Nishino Tsukasa and forgot about the rest of the characters.
