Description
This could be any girl. Imagine being a heroine of a love story. Hatori also believed that one day she would get married to her childhood friend, Rita.

But that's not how the world works! This is a hilarious comedy that honestly paints a painful unrequited love story of this young girl!

UGGGGHHHHH.

Hatori is not like your typical shoujo main girl character. She's mean, but that's what makes this story realistic. And I like her personality, she's very honest to her feelings, also I can relate to her as much. When I read this series, I was all like "Oh she's truly like me!" so I sympathize with her, and I understand why she acts that way. Since she's just a teen, it's normal for her to be jealous, get mad when girls near the guy you like and feel anxious when he starts liking someone else.
The art is nice, it comes to my liking, though I don't like all the characters. Well, I like Kousuke, who appears in this story as a third person. He's nice, considerate, and also a hottie.. -laughs- I think he's the right one for her. I support him instead of Rita. Rita is the kind of guy that only feels the importance when someone takes his precious things away. Shoujos are always all like "only first love will bloom". But no, in this series, I'm rooting for the other guy! REALLY. If Koda-sensei chooses Rita instead of Kousuke, I will immediately drop this series right away! -_-
I give this a 8 because I have this bad feeling that the main girl is gonna be hooked up with Rita.. Agh.

---- new updates! -----

JESUS. Well, um it's been a while since I last checked this series.. now it's already finished and..
I just read the raws.

WHAT THE F**K IS WITH THE ENDING?!
I actually had HIGH HOPES for this one! Seriously! In the end, she ended being with Rita, one of the biggest jerks in the shoujo wooorld. Damn. SHE HURTED HIROMITSU-KUN AFTER ALL.
Really, I had been reading the mangaka's blog and it seemed like she was always uploading pictures of Hiromitsu-kun, sometimes together with Hatori. BUT WHAT'S WITH THE ENDING, UGH.

I'm changing my rating from 8 to 4. It's because Hatori dared to hurt Hiromitsu-kun. It's the second time in a day I've come across these kind of shoujo. I was just done with Koi Shitagari no Blue series and now THIS. Ugh,I'm really really disappointed with this series. I honestly thought it would have a MUCH better ending. Because I'm rooting for Hiromitsu-kun. Really cannot believe it. -crying-

Well, I'm done reading this manga. TOTALLY DROPPING IT.
THE WORST.

Special enough to make it interesting

I think this manga is showing us a more in-depth of a side-character in a manga. Hatori's new girlfriend represent the usual main character - shy, not so pretty or special. Hatori is the mean, out-to-get the heroine rival who's also childhood freind with the hero, who is a bad boy. Seems familiar? I think this kind of plot makes it unique and worth reading since it's so different. this is probably what you're either gonna love or hate. The art is okay which is a plot and the scans are well done. Hopefully there will be more.

Seriously engaging and dastardly hilarious art

Hahah this is so entertaining! This girl is equal parts delusional and downright scheming and so so so relatable! She's also very brave... I know I would have loved to be her had I no chance to be the "lead heroine" as she puts it! Her chain of consciousness is always trailing off into fantasies and almost immediately she'll pull herself back to reality too only to start fretting and scheming about another line of attack! I can never get enough of her inner monologue!

And the expressions and loveliness of the art despite some overall immaturity in the handling of faces is so top notch and over the top exaggerated! Sigh... this is why I continue to read shoujo manga! To encounter gems like this every now and then!

Everyone is so devious yet predictable, it's delicious! Characters are fleshed out very well here and lol "secondary characters" or "supporting characters" as our Heroine would call them are also given quite interesting non stereotypical roles. I may not be super happy with some of the more cliche twists the story kept taking after a while, or the ending per se... but it was a very fun ride.

And also... a self aware hottie basketball player who voluntarily attends prep/cram school? And knows when to turn on the jock fan service mode to distract the heroine from her ennui? SERVE ME UP A PIECE OF THAT!

And did I just see the three leads from Strobe Edge in a panel there?! OH MY GOD!!! Shoujo manga going meta! I love IT!!!

Hahah and generally I'm allergic to maudlin outbursts and melodrama but there's so much comedic relief to take the burden off it as well! How was this not made into an anime?!

from the very beginning to the very end of this series, i've loved it all the way through.
i'm glad hatori isn't your typical protagonist and even though she didn't end up with the person the majority of the fandom wanted her to, she was happy and i think as the series progresses, that's what everyone wants for her to be the most (well, for me anyway).
i don't know guys, this manga was just great. i feel so upset that it's over but at the same time i feel so glad because she's finally found her happiness.
it's definitely worth a go! you won't regret it.

Total train wreak

As much as I like Hatori, she's a total train wreak. To say that Hatori is a bully, stuck up or a villian would be overdoing it. She's not confident, prideful or mean but rather delusional, insecure and naive. Loving Rita who has a girlfriend (Adachi) just makes this one really bad mess because you feel her pain and hopelessness throughout the story. Rita is totally unreceptive of her love and his girlfriend is such a goody-two-shoes to the point of nausea. While Hatori's behavior towards her is more realistic than friction. As for Rita, you'll probably end up despising him.The only spark of hope in this story might be that Hatori may wake up and smell the coffee. On the other hand, for those who absolutely love stories where the protagonist is redundantly kicked in the teeth ( i.e unrequite love, played with and two-timed) this would be an olympian contender, so eat your heart out.

The first thing that really made me start loving this manga was the fact that Hatori is not your average shoujo heroine. She's "the other woman," basically. But instead of a Strobe-Edge-other-woman premise, where the heroine's still a sweetheart... Hatori is the mean, snooty, stuck up girl that always picks on the main character. Except it's HER story.

And, because it humanizes that stereotype of the mean girl bully, this manga is already awesome. But everything else about it is good, too; the art, the realism (Hatori looks like a wreck when she cries, for instance, as opposed to having big bubbly tears streaming down her face prettily), the other characters (Nakajima my queen!!!), the philosophical statements... it's a good one.

Update: so I think this manga got dragged out for a little longer than necessary; and Hatori kind of flip flopped back and forth and back and forth with her feelings in a way that got progressively irritating, but... still, I don't know. I really like the whole idea of "everyone's the heroine of their own story." And taking a character that's almost universally unlikable and making us root for them. But I did kind of... get really frustrated with the lack of consistent emotional growth. It was like one step forward, eighty steps backwards. And I do wish Hatori was able to develop some more positive aspects to balance out her negativity, but... but still. I think this manga had so much potential and it was still a nice read for a while.

I think it would have been better if it were to be shorter, the last half of the manga was quite tiring seeing Hatori and Hiromitsu, though I really hoped they get together.
And it would be so nice if Rita and that supporting character (forgot her name OTL) got together, cause after all seeing them went through such a journey, they really did have some kind of chemistry

HEAR ME OUT
Rating: 8.0 / 10.0

Okay, for all of you out there who has already read this manga, you might be thinking WHAT IN THE F*CK'S TARNATION IS GOING ON HERE. For everyone who hasn't read it yet, give it a try before you let other people's review convince you it isn't good. Yea, I was cursing at this manga when I was reading it but I thought it was kind of special. Not your everyday cliche.. At first I was like what the hell is the mangaka doing.. but I started to notice the meaning was deeper. Maybe she was trying to show us that when we're at that age, we were reckless and confused. Rita was confused. Hatori was confused. And that's why they two timed. They didn't understand what their really meant. HEAR ME OUT.

What caught me first about this manga was the drawing. The heroine isn't always pretty. She can look so ridiculous but it's still so funny. It gets me cracking every time. But as time went on, I REALLY WANTED TO FCKING SHAKE HER. The number 1 character that I like the most is the supporting best friend "Nakajima". She's the smartest one out of the bunch but no one ever takes her advice..it's maddening

Hatori: This crazy woman! WTH IS WRONG WITH HER. WHY CAN'T SHE GIVE UP. I mean I thought she was so strong for not giving up at first but he is a TOTAL jerk..He doesn't even LOVE her as a woman. More like a sister. They both don't understand that. When she finally..FINALLY starts falling in love with Hiromitsu..Rita was like..I love you..REALLY? FCKING REALLY NOW?
Rita: HE IS SO SELFISH. HE CAN'T MAKE UP MIND. He doesn't care about anyone else's happiness but his own...knowing Hatori will ALWAYS be there for him no matter what and at his beck and call..-_- He's just a lonely, cruel boy
Hiromitsu: My only one complaint is that he was messing around at first..but he fell so in love with her in the end (so far)...ugh I hope Hatori ends up with him or I'll punch a b*tch. She's really stupid with her feelings -_-

I unexpectedly like this a lot. It's hilarious and really unlike most shoujos that I read. I really did not expect to like this. It's refreshing and smart. I agree with Criminal Intent on all points. Anyway, I'm really enjoying this right now and hopefully it will develop into a really good series. I have high hopes for this one. biggrin
