from being decent to dreadful

God of high School had some fight scenes that were fun to watch and see like dragon ball. But now it gets way too dragged out for its own good and it focus on fight scenes and even then the fights aren't as good as before.
The main characters gets some development but not much, while the supporting characters don't get any development they are as generic as npcs. Just another series that's getting prolonged for cash

It's like a Korean version of Naruto. The longer it goes, the worse it gets. It started as a good, interesting read, but then all plot went to hell, characters got beyond boring and the only thing left is boring-ass completely overdone fight scenes. Also, the main character hasn't been present since like dark ages, so yeah. If you like senseless, plot-less, Naruto-esque bullsh*t, keep reading this after like chapter 150 or sth.

Giant Train Wreck Of Sh*t
by Forgotten10
September 17th, 2015, 8:25pm
Rating: 5.0  / 10.0
I'll keep this short, so anyone who is about to start this can get my two cents.

This manhwa starts off good, and entertaining. A concept of a bunch of people having a martial arts competition with unique skills. If the author kept the main focus on the tournament throughout the series, it would have been average. Although somewhere along the way, the author decided to take a sh*t and start bringing it to life. Just because the sh*t becomes alive, doesn't mean it still isn't sh*t. It is just living sh*t.

There is no real growth in how the characters get stronger. They just get stronger... or something...? If you hate power curve inconsistencies then this series is not compatible with you at all. Even if you can forgive power curves and plot holes, and a giant train wreck series... Still don't read this.

tl;dr - Fairly interesting at the beginning, then it just falls in to the pits of despair.

What happened?

In the beginning this manhwa was great. One of the funniest and most unique stories I've read. Loved the crazy hijinks they got into, loved the totally random art changes, loved the absurd 4th wall breaking moments, loved the hilarious spoofs that poked fun at other popular manga and itself. Couldn't get enough. I was laughing myself silly.

But then for some reason it just stops. That's right it just stops. All the humour from before totally vanishes. Character development becomes non existent. It was as if the author sudden had a stroke and developed a totally different personality. From then on the series was just fight after fight after fight. New characters come in and just start fighting. Some die, some don't. But noone cares. There's zero explanation, no build up, I'm not even sure what the plot was anymore. All 'pizzazz' from before goes down the drain and the series turns from a great comedy to one of the most boring and generic shonein series you've ever read. I was so disappointed in this series.

For readers who want to try a comedy that keeps been funny throughout and doesn't let them down, try reading Prison school. Now that's what this series should of been like if the author didn't get dropped on his head.

Very good

Unpredictable, this manhwa is very good. To all the people saying it fails plotwise and the characters are bland i just say two words: Dragon Ball. And it still rocks this day and age. Start appreciating the things you have in front, not badmouthing its weaker aspects.

I still like it

I like this manga. It isn't something I would usually read and have tried to begin countless times but was hooked and now I love it. I think it has a plot, though confusing as all hell sometimes, but lets face it, I think the fighting and how they portray it is new (to me at least) and for that I still enjoy it. I love the art and the characters. What else is there to love about a manga?

Chinese Wuxia & Journey to the West in Modern Seoul
by Pacific.Mint

If you have ever watched Chinese martial arts or wuxia dramas, you'll understand where the fighting styles and the special abilities are coming from. Fighting with cards? No problem. God power coming out of no where? It's daily life for youxia. Mysterious sects in head shroud? It's everywhere in Jianghu.

In the beginning, even with the wuxia influence, the webcomic still makes sense. But as more chapter comes out, things just pop out of no where so randomly. I totally LOLed when the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, from Journey to the West, complete with his headpiece and pole, which btw came out from the moon, showed up. It's not that having those elements are bad, it's having them with all the other things from different worlds. Now we have wuxia x journey to the west worlds fused into one.

This webcomic has progressed to a stage where it's so ridiculous it's hilarious. Oh well, at least you'll laugh. But I wouldn't say Season 3 is as bad as some other reviewers say. I'll say it still has a plot, even though elusive. If you're not familiar with Journey to the West, you'll be confused with all the monkeys, gourd, and cow king stuff. Since I'm very familiar with it and wuxia, so it's just fun for me. Watch Journey to the West if you want to understand season 3 better. If you like GOH with all of its eclectic glories, check out some Chinese wuxia dramas. Start with Jin Yong's, and definitely Journey to the West.

Going downhill

The only thing that's gets better over time, is the artwork (In the beginning it was really bad). Outside of it, everything, i mean, everything gets way worse.

The story (if it had one), loses purpose after the High school Tournament. The author tries to keeps things fresh, throwing many new info and story elements at the reader, but the reader is overwhelmed with the amount of bloat this Manhwa becomes.

The characters are just as bad, they have no ambition, no goal, they just keeping getting stronger just for the sake of the (poor) story.

My enjoyment of the series was directly proportional to the number chapters this series had. The more it had, the less i enjoyed.

Overall i give this Manhwa a 4. Below Average. The author does indeed develop himself over the years, but unfortunately, it was just his artwork. Outside of it, you have a really bland battle Manhwa that doesn't try to differentiate itself from the many others out there, it just follows the recipe and hopes for the best.

If this wasn't a webcomic, and was serialized in a Japanese Magazine (Like Shounen Jump, Shuukan Shounen or Shounen Sunday). It would be cancelled ages ago.

goes downhill

I started by giving this manhwa an 8 considering the shounen genre and great art. Unfortunately, as the manhwa continues the story deteriorates. The plot jumps all over the place and it's disorientating to readers who have to wait for it to update from week to week. The characters are likable, but rather bland and generic. Although they have back stories, it feels rather cliche. A fault I find within the manhwa is that the reasons for some of the fights are incoherent and questionable at times...It draws away from the immersion of the story. The art is pretty great though. It is consistently good-looking with great character designs.
As I grew up with Journey to the West and Chinese culture I feel I am a bit biased towards liking it.

Wasted Potential

The concept behind the series in interesting and the art is good but there are a lot of pitfalls with the series. The main character is strong and all, but seems to have an IQ of about 10 which I find irritating. Also, the skills of the characters have just become so ridiculous and outlandish. The author is obviously pulling this stuff out of their *** in an attempt to escalate the plot. And has just become so random. After the high school fight the story sort of lost all purpose.

Another slight peeve of mine, is the anti- US sentiment. Which I wouldn't really mind if it weren't so ridiculous.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The US helping North Korea?! That plot line is just too dumb.
