From Viz: Kaya Satozuka is a brilliant secretary who excels at her job, which is why she doesn't bat an eye when she's assigned to be personal secretary to Kyohei Touma, the very difficult managing director of Touma Foods. It doesn't faze her when her new boss seems determined to make her fail, and she even manages to take it in stride when she discovers the secret behind his prickly behavior…he's a vampire! But while Kaya easily adapts to late nights and keeping a schedule of his "dinner dates", will her ultra-competence help when Kyohei's smoldering gaze starts turning her way?!

Liked the beginning...
... till it moved to selfish jerk/pathetic woman in love territory.
Having said that, I stuck around mainly cuz the heroine was so awesome. Loved her spunk in the beginning chapters, and that kept resurfacing throughout at odd points (like how refreshingly self-aware and perceptive she was about people and her situation) in the manga which made me sympathize with her sometimes. Although it's also a pathetic lack of self-respect if you're enduring that kind of situation.. "It's all part of my duty as a secretary" *rolls eyes*
At least they improved it towards the end, but some parts in the middle (considering I liked the heroine very much) just made me sad.

I used to have doubts about smutty mangas. I thought it would be sappy love and lots of sex, but I've been constantly surprised by mangas like Hapi Mari, Emma, Kimi wa Pet, Mars and now Midnight Secretary. Yes, there's sex, but it's not the focus and it's actually very beautiful or very sad depending on the situation.
These stories are captivating, realistic (to a certain degree), and downright amazing. I really enjoy them. This one in particular was fun because it was "supernatural," but perhaps that made it a bit more sad. The fact that they're so different, that they come from different worlds and there's a certain amount of effort to keep a distance is very disheartening. Even after they realize they're love there are still walls up.
But the heroine is amazing. A constant annoyance in manga is a weak character. Yes, women are sensitive, yes, we tend to cry about stupid things, but crying all the freaking time is unacceptable. I think Kaya was beautiful, strong-willed, professional, but still just a soft-hearted woman. Yes, she had her moments, but it's okay every once in a while. That's normal.
I also really liked Kyouhei. I'm really into successful businessmen in mangas, not really because I like their condescending attitude, but because when a guy puts you before his business, that's some sweet love. I also like how they could have anyone, but they chose someone average and not glamorous.
I also like family background in mangas and many mangas lack that. Family and friends, that's what makes you into the type of person you are so you can't just cut that out and focus just on a relationship. Whether it's trying to escape a family, look for your family, fit into your family, I love when it includes that. There's more to life than sex and your lover.
Love, Passion, Family, Business, Drama, that's life and when you have all those balanced in a manga, that's a good fucking story.
One of the best mature supernatural romance manga i've read to date and certainly one of my favorites. The characters are strong, the plot line is interesting and keeps a good pace, theres humor scattered throughout but of a more toned down theme (not much in the way of slapstick). Interesting take on vampires included in the story too. Sadly there are not a lot of manga around that are similar to this and those that are are not even half as strong. Well worth a read if you like supernatural romance.
One of my absolute FAVES
I can read this over and over again without ever getting tired of it. I love everything about this. The art is absolutely amazing and so are the characters. I don't think anything has compared to this (in regards to smut) and i find myself comparing other to this. I swear this has completely ruined me for other manga's haha. My absolute fave <3
Totally Captivated XD
Each chapter got my expectations higher and higher, the way she was ONLY focused on her job, and the way he treated women, and yet how each other became attracted to each other. The most interesting part, was how he (who just treat women as food) got so captivated by her, and how he came to treasure her and his baby. That kind of plot and that kind of character growth is the key for a great manga, with great art and an interesting plot.

I can't believe I ever overlooked this...
This was one of the first mangas I came across, so I had a lot of choice when I decided to read this. After looking at the art and reading the first two chapters I quit...OH HOW I WAS SUCH A FOOL...I've come back to this about a year later and , wow it is really good, I can't find fault in anything. The fact that the manga only has 35 chapters is amazing, because each chapter was used to the fullest it really felt like it was an appropriate amount..The mangaka was amazing, because she choose story over money, and didn't let the story drag on for the sake of money.I'm actually happy I didn't read this back then because its really feels like the best manga I've read in ages...Seriously read it ! Properly ! Don't do what I did
This was unexpectedly good office romance manga... I have read it because I wanted to read some manga about vampire, but this was way better than I expected. I really recommend this one as one of the best romantic mangas...

Can't believe it's not licensed!
This was a surprisingly good story. I was not expecting much when i started reading it, but i liked the blurb. Turns out it's not just hot, but unlike many of the shoujo heroines, this one has a backbone!
This was so cute! I absolutely loved it! I wasn't sure that I would like it as I started to read it, but by the first couple of pages I couldn't put it down. It is the only manga that I can read over and over and over again.
It quickly took the place of my favorite manga, and I seriously don't think it's going to change.
Although some consider this to be misogynistic manga, I've found only few "traces" o that, and they are actually interestingly used version of Cinderella syndrome (Google it -_-). Main male character is a person with many complexes (not that it actually "redeems" his behavior, but who has ever see a "bishie" without some interesting "fault" ;-D ), and he hides them behind his "evil" ( ;-D) behavior (well, if I had to seduce multiple women just to feed, I'd probably be even worse than him >_<), and as it is shown later in this manga, feeding from only one woman is quite troublesome (in more than one way). On the other side, main female character is seemingly timid girl, which looks as if she is easily pushed around (Oh boy! those who think that are SO wrong!), while actually she is just someone who is not obsessed with being "on top" or being "the boss", and when she needs to, she can be quite stubborn and strong-willed, and besides, she is NOT STUPID (why does everyone think, that if someone is not aggressive, it means that he/she is stupid?), but actually quite intelligent (she shows it on many occasions). Besides, she is CUUUUTE!!! All in all, this manga has some interesting character profiles (although a bit standard type), without that annoying "what will happen next" angst. (bit of that is OK, but most authors go WAY overboard with it) I have to say I liked it, chuckled at some parts, was all "aw cute" at others, and had to bite my tongue to stop myself from going all "MOE" at some.
