Description
From VIZ:
In 2015, the "Angels" have returned, and Shinji Ikari, a fourteen year-old child of the new Earth, is forced by his father -- Gendo, commander of the secret organization NERV -- to pilot the monstrous biomechanical weapon called "Evangelion" to match the Angels' fearsome power...
The NGE anime is an amazing series. This manga seems to be on the path to assuming the alternative ending provided by EoE, which I do not mind at all.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
I do not think that any manga artist/writers would be able to depict in art the depth the instrumentality project concluded the original NGE series. This is the reason I believe that for an ending to the manga, that the EoE ending would be best suited.
I believe the manga is better than the anime. I like the characters better, I think they are more believable and I like the relationship with Rei MUCH better ( Come one why would anyone like Asuka? @_@)
oh yea>>>WHY IS ASUKA NOT THAT IMPORTANT!!!! nooooooooo..... she is just like someone else said >> support>> *crying with tears!!!* why, why, WHY!!!!! >>my mental problem
Spoiler (highlight to view)
i love the part when she tried to strangle shinji-kun cuz for some reason i felt that it was better than the one in the movie>>shinji-kun sounded too desperate in the movie>>like asuka-chan's true self which i liked but it kicked off shinji-kuns character>>i wish they showed more emotions toward shinjixasuka instead of rei tho. Like most of you know, asuka-chan and shinji-kun share the hedgehog syndrome and like most shounen, opposites attract. The hedgehog syndrome ppl are total opposites and if they overcome their barriers, then they would be in true love.
For the rei fans, i think that either you are the type of person who loves good endings or you are a big shoujo fan. why? because this story isnt meant to have a good ending>ex>>the EoE movie. SHinji-kun is a person w/ a mental problem xD and asuka has one too. Now the Shinjixrei fans, want shiniji-kun to recover by seeing the light that rei shows him and vice versa. However, first there is no way for them to get together and second, Kaji-san said that shinji isnt able to be loved anymore cuz he killed Toji and that means rei cant be with him. but why can asuka-chan? b/c she went through the same pain or worse than shinji-kun had gone through>>half dead stare... in hospital>>famous hospital scene>>that way it equals out a bit
Finally, b/c asuka-chan is just plain AWESOME
For the shinjixrei fans, i want to tell you that shinji doesnt love rei cuz when he saw her true form, he didnt come back to her... if rei wasnt that thingy, then he would have chosen her. unlike the movie/anime, shinji-kun doesnt show a crush on asuka-chan, but either its that he is desperate or he really does love her in the end when he puts a spotlight on her.
rei i seriously hate and the guy who loves shinji-kun
dont think Anno too godly he didnt write the story anime based on manga yea anime better and this isnt a good signal usually manga better than anime if anno thinks he can make better story he should write a new story. your whole point wrong
Truthfully I can't choose whether if the anime is better or if the manga is better. I like the focus on Rei and Shinji's relationship...but I also dislike the lack of Asuka. Bleh, for me, choosing anime or manga is like choosing a favorite child, I love them both
agreed with anonymous, it has an "extreme" chance to become better than the anime and movie,
i'm glad that shinji emotional state is reduced, in the anime that was the only thing they mainly showed, a broken down shinji, this one has guts at least to almost hit his father (fanservice? i wish he connected).
if they showed him always depressed there wouldn't be even a point to read this manga, and kaworu is more of a badass than in the anime.
As I am the person that enjoys philosophical and psychological stuff more than a plain rather simple-minded plot, I enjoyed anime by far better... <--- kekekeke another way of saying I've no life and a real otaku. Pathetic.
I compared the manga with anime..And manga looses by far..Ofcourse the normal teenager that like more simpleminded plot than the symbols would enjoy this one...
Sadamoto has no talent at creatin g symbols that Anno had...Plainly - hes pathetic at creating angst and some philosophical stuff... But he can make characters more down to earth like (though their philsophical depth is reduced)...
As I am the person that enjoys philosophical and psychological stuff more than a plain rather simple-minded plot, I enjoyed anime by far better... Besides if yoiu are an Asuka fan you will get dissapointed as she turned into some additional charcter rather than being main one together with Rei adn Shinji....
Rei howver gets more time to develop so Rei fans will enjoy...Shinji is more like normal teenager thast why looks pretty plain here....
Overall...Compared with other mangas its still great (its NGE after all) but compared with anime it looses greatly... Even doujinshi RE-TAKE is far better here...
Less Shinji self-hate. It might as well be "nuff said" right there, but I may as well elaborate. I personally have grown to like the manga better over the anime. One of the reasons is the aforementioned. Some others are: Rei's emotional development, uniform art style, alternation from the anime storyline (like Asuka's introduction)...
Only one disappointment: I do wish that Sadamoto would get on and complete the darn manga series... and give it a nice, cohesive ending.
has chance to make a better ending than the anime/movie

its not as detailed or confrontaltional as the anime, but people have more humanoid emotions and shinjis on a weakling, not a complete wimpo retarded weakling like he is in the anime. this re-interpretation is hope to fans who didnt like the wierd anime ending or the shockingly brutal movie ending. pick it up!
