Description
From Izumo no Ryuu: A tale of obsessive love and constant pursuit, told over a 1000 years.
Escaping from a brother who had just ascended the throne, Yoshitsune, along with his servant, comes across a house in the middle of a desolate mountain. Oddly enough, only a young woman lives there, who seems to possess a very dark and ominous past.
This long journey of more than a thousand years focuses on our main protagonist Kurou. It can be somewhat confusing at the beginning, but once you understand the plot this story can be quite entertaining.
The main thrust of the story goes like this: Kurou meets a beautiful woman by the name of Kuromitsu, and begins a relationship which transcends life and memory. Kurozuka tells the tale of a journey undertaken by immortals, and those who chase after immortality.
The majority of this story takes place many centuries in the future, after Kurou has been separated from Kuromitsu. Having lost almost all of his memories, Kurou seeks to understand why he cannot die, to rediscover his identity, and to find the woman that haunts his dreams.
I really like Seinen manga with love involved in the plot. The manga fortunately it's not too long, because it's so addictive that I’ve finished this up with one day (around 7h in total) - and it wasn't a waste of time. The only thing that pissed me a little were the sex scenes. Not the fact that there were in the manga I just missed men nudity – I loved the way artist were drawing men bodies (muscles) so I wanted to see sex between two people, not the different positions of women in ecstasy ! But never mind, I was great even so!
I pretty muched enjoyed this with its unquie story line, intruging yet blood thirsty charaters and pretty good art. But, there was some things that annoyed me as well, like the jumping back in and out though time without a full explanation of how they would deal with that timeline.
The ending was decent (loved the twist in the end), considering the fact that the story it actually really complete. If you like lots of blood, gore, nudity and awesome charaters that draw you in, you can't afford to not read.
The premise of the story is both interesting and promising, but the method in which the author went about in telling the story made the manga a big let down. While there is a lot of action, nudity and sex sex SEX, I found the timeline of events confusing - maybe that happens when you have a story that spans 1000 years. I also didn't like the art - it felt gravely and made many of the action scenes indiscernible. In addition, while the manga claims that this is also a love story, I never quite felt the said love between Kurou and Kuromitsu - I think the mangaka should have fleshed out more how their feelings for one another developed at the start. I give this manga a 5 for the interesting premise.
Most likely because the nudity/violence meter goes above even Gantz now and then, but still, sad to see that a manga as amazing as this isn't that widely known.
Ending was amazing, it made you happy...in a sublime and non-direct sense.
If you don't pay attention to the story, the dialog, the art.. you can get lost very quickly and find yourself confused, especially since (if memory serves me right) it *jumps* a lot through time and pulls a lot of that "it was all a dream" thing. But that's what makes this series so hard to follow: half of the time, you don't know what you're reading. Well, that doesn't take away anything.
Izumo no Ryuu describe the manga so well in one short sentence: the basic, the essence and the beauty.
Both the art and the story-telling are top class. You will read and reread all over again to capture the feelings, emotions. Story is twisted all over the place.
Well, words cant describe this enough. Read it! You wont regret it.
Well what can I say.Its not everyday that I can read something this good and addictive. The story is great, well it gets somewhat confusing here and there but in the end it is all cleard up nicely. Its not a light read .I had to read carefully to understand which made it the more worthwhile.I like the transcending time and apocalypse motives. It really adds to the story. Overall a must read!
It's good, really... very interesting concept and story. Although very very confusing at times (makes it lose some points for me), and the fact that I don't usually like post-apocalyptic stuff doesn't help. But if you like this kind of stuff, you're probably really going to enjoy this manga. So I'd recommend it to you. As for me, I would have loved to read more about their pre-disaster lives. If they ever make a prequel to this, it would be totally awesome.
action, adventure, betrayal, and a love that crosses centuries........ my kind of story. the art is amazing, storyline never lacking, and action stimulating. i agree that it gets confusing here and there. but it straightens out in the end. I hope there's a sequel!!!
