Slapstick shoujo-ai romantic comedy made special by Hayashiya Shizuru's unique brand of humour; Julia Tachibana, an experienced idol, is infuriated when her boss saddles her with playing 'senpai' to 15-year-old new recruit Ran Asakawa. But the moment she first lays eyes on the tall, cute blonde who is to be her kouhai, all of that changes...

There is a ton of progress in the second volume, with a satisfying conclusion... and to compare Strawberry Shake unfavorably to Maria Holic...?! Maria Holic isn't even a yuri manga; it's like an anti-yuri manga that hates it's yuri. It's awful.

Thought I'd try out GL to see how that is compared to BL and started this one but while reading volume 1 I got bored of it already because nothing happened. There are lots of nice girls present but not even a kiss (let alone yuri [why's that tag applied to this one?], was just light shoujo-ai) or anything close to a romance. After I read half the book I only flipped through the rest of it and won't even bother with vol 2.
Dropped this one.
Had some entertainment but not enough to keep me reading just for the comedy. Maria Holic was better in this case since it doesn't focus on certain "couples". Has very light shoujo-ai too but its wacky comedy always kept me reading on.
Strawberry Shake would be more interesting for me when there'd be some kind of progress in the relationship of any of the "pairs" (they aren't really pairs, they never got to that state but you'll know who likes whom).

This is the first Yuri Manga I've come across that is downright comedy, that has no heavy emotions in it...
And this is what makes it the Ideal "Mood Freshner" that I have ever come across... the two main characters are nothing real and are totally dense. The whole environment in the Manga is just so comically unreal and above all... there is just one normal character... that too in supporting role...
I recommend this to anyone who loves yuri or some light hearted comedy with some cute artwork...

Strawberry Shake is a very solid series. The characters are lovable, particularly Ran and Julia, the two leads. The art is quality. The plot is a lot of fun; the humor is by in large successful, as is the romance.
Overall, it's a stunning example of a romantic comedy manga. And of course it's yuri which makes it awesome.

I reallllllly loveeeeee thisssss mangaaaaaaaaaaaaaa (yell)
the character have unique characteristic that not make it so boring and is good for the plot.
Drawing is pretty cute, simple but complete easy to understand who is this person-not the same face, eye, hair that make me ask who is she.
althought ploting is normal, I love her gag(romance, ecchi) it make me laugh all the time.SLAY is good too.
worth for read
I strongly recommand !!!

A Solid Romantic Comedy

SSS is a solid shojo-ai romantic comedy; main characters Julia and Ran struggle with cute romantic feelings for each other while bolder supporting characters urge them on while participating in their own and definitely more outspoken yuri romps. Admittingly, SSS stays strictly in the romantic comedy genre; its plot and character interactions are almost entirely limited to love, romantic gags between characters, a rising idol subplot, and two main characters who're always tripping over their attempts to confess to each other when they're not being confused by their own feelings. It's not entirely original, but SSS plays these conventions so well that they seem fresh, and the overt shojo-ai romance will attract yuri fans everywhere. So, if you love romantic comedies and love yuri, SSS will easily become one of your favorite mangas. And if pure romantic comedies aren't in your tastes, allow me to direct you to Hayate X Blade, Hayashiya's other serial yuri manga which contains action, more character development, and a larger focus on solid plot while still keeping the humor and cute shojo-ai romance that we love her for.

I love this manga! Julia's efforts at being cool in front of Ran are the funniest thing ever, and I think that although this is shoujo-ai, it's very relatable to people of all sexualities and ages.
