From Viz: Deep in the heart of 19th Century London, a young nobleman named Cain walks the shadowy cobblestone streets of the aristocratic society in which he was born. Forced to become an Earl upon the untimely death of his father, Cain assumes the role of head of the Hargreaves, a noble family with a dark past. With Riff, his faithful manservant, and Mary Weather, his 10-year-old adopted sister, Cain investigates the mysterious crimes that seem to follow him wherever he goes.

I adore this series. Not really shounen-ai IMHO except brief scenes which are more plausible as deep fneed and friendship but that works for me. The characters are really interesting and the plot is great. What starts as simple mysteries becomes very involved and the constant little twists are brilliantly placed. I happen to love the ending as well, it really fits with the mood of the manga and the gothic theme is well preserved throughout without sacrificing emotion or humanity. The art work in Godchild is better than in The Cain Saga but both series have great art anyway. Points lost simple due to a couple of inconsistencies I noted which bugged me. Still a must read and one I'd definitely read again. If you like Angel Sanctuary you'd like this.

He what? Duh. The ending... I HATE IT. I haaate tragedy. omg.
Just so you know... In the end there were nothing. NOTHING. I feel really empty... like... wow I've been reading 13 volumes to find nothing. I always hate bad endings And now I'm deleting the whole manga... what a waste of time and bandwidth
Just my personal opinion... I really hate bad ending...
Spoiler (highlight to view)
In the end, the main characters die.
aww i really loved this series i remember first reading it in shoujo beat when i was a freshman in high school, and now i finished the manga a few months ago when i found all the volumes online. the ending wasn't a surprise for me since some stupid girl wrote a huge spoiler about the ending (without warning) on some forum i read 2 years ago (which totally killed me, if you can imagine once your read the whole series) but yeah the manga was a great read :]
I loved this manga! The art, the story, how everything connects in the end (and such an unexpected one)!
so sad yet so sweet..... great ending... altho it was so sad... T^T
beautiful story... and a great pairing~
I love it. The beginning didn't really appeal to me because it was rather bizarre, actually it was really bizarre for me, but it got less bizarre and confusing as the story came along. The ending was just perfect though it left me sighing. (T__T Riff and Cain...TT__TT)
I absolutley loved this manga! Kaori Yuki's artwork is beatiful and the storyline was so interesting. I have to disagree with Ranmaru, all of the stories went together. Overall, it's one of my favorite mangas ever!
this is good
somehow some of the characters kinda remind me of the characters in Yami no matsuei, cain is similar to tsuzuki and dr. jezebel reminds me of muraki ^^
i loved the ending. it was bittersweet but it was wonderful. the artwork is beautiful as well. i honestly think kaori yuki did a great job. i'd recommend it to anyone.
lol i'm the opposite of wat ranmaru said. i didn't really like the angel sanctuary much but i just love the count cain and godchild series instead b/c i prefer a dark, Gothic, twisted vers. of alice in wonderland type of story with hint of shounen-ai in it ~~
